Advice for 2013 base Model S loudspeaker improvements

My 2013 P85 is running well after nearly 10yrs and 275,000 miles, but I realised the "base sound system" speakers were blown and I bought a couple of Light Harmonic 3rd-Generation speakers to replace. You can see the difference in the pics and I expected a leap in sound quality. Installation...

Retractable tonneau cover... still going to have solar panels?

I can't help but think they've abandoned the solar power generating aspect of the retractable tonneau cover. Does anyone else agree? Haven't heard anything about it since Elon stood on it during the "Jay Leno's Garage" episode. All we've seen are open beds and solid black covers since then -...

    Plaid wheel+tire package for 200mph

Since the debut of the Plaid S, the website has said "the indicated Plaid top speed requires proper wheels and tires which will be available in Fall 2021." Winter starts December 21st, which is 29 days away. Have to assume there will be a software update that will unlock the extra speed, once...

    Where/how to repair armrest?

I've got a 2013 Model S with a lot of miles on it and the driver's side armrest has worn a patch where my elbow/forearm sits. As you can see from the pic it's the discontinued grey interior, and it's *not* the Premium interior option (though the seats are leather). What are my options to fix...

    Acceleration/Rollout measurement

It also looks like a couple of acceleration figures got beefed up. Model 3 LR AWD is now just as fast as my 2013 Model S P85! (and has a higher top speed!) I wonder if there has been a range bump for the $35,000 Standard Range Model 3 that you can supposedly still order.

Interior camera in 3+Y. What about S+X?

I notice that the Model Y has the "interior camera" near the rear-view mirror. Just like the Model 3. This could be simply a corollary of using 75% of the same parts as the Model 3. But it is a weird deviation from Model S+X. It was my assumption that the interior camera has some role to...

Reduced ordering options for Model S/X

Remember Elon put out a tweet about ordering prior to November 1st? Looks like those changes are now in place. From what I can discern...: * no more sunroof option whatsoever on the S. Only the glass roof is available. * no more cloth/textile whatever seats. Only black, white and cream for...

Price Increase... Model S/X now includes Premium Package AS STANDARD

Hi all - if I am understanding the website correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong), it looks like the base Model S 75D is now $77,000 in black without any options. Except, the Premium Package is now included. The car used to be $74,500, so the Premium Package is now included at a price...

Do the Performance brakes look any different?

I'm sure you've all seen the pic of the "AWD Performance" Model 3 coming off the new line. Elon Musk on Twitter Has anyone taken a detailed look at the brakes on that car? Wondering if they look any different from the LR RWD brakes that have been shipping so far. Apart from the red brake...

"Hi Speed Charging" a.k.a. 72A option disappeared?

I can't see any reference to the high speed charging option any more - on Model X or Model S. It used to be standard on the 100kWh cars and not available at all on the 75kWh cars. (which was dumb) I looked at the "Standard Equipment" and other specs text, and my hunch is that in keeping with...

deleting recent addresses from the nav system?

I think my computer system is getting clogged up by excess numbers of addresses in the nav system. Pre-8.0 it was fairly quick to delete them... it was one at a time, but it was fast. On 8.0 and onwards I can only see a way to do it one at a time, and it's slow. Is there one step to get rid...

help needed - car can't see USB memory stick

Hi folks - I have a PNY 256GB USB memory stick containing about 300 tracks of music in a folder tree. My laptop can see the USB drive just fine and play the files. When I put the stick into my car, the "USB" tab never shows up on the display, so it can never play any of the music. I have...

    Guessing the reveal event date

I think I heard Elon say his plans to begin shipping the Model 3 were for July 1st 2017, during an earnings conference call last year. That was the date he was asking all suppliers to use in their scheduling plans. It has sounded like nothing has gone wrong with this plan and Tesla can...

    Grey Leather going away?

I've always noticed that Grey leather isn't available on the Model X. It's still my preferred colour for Model S seats. I noticed today that if you select Grey Next Generation leather seats on Model S, it quotes a USA delivery date of Mid 2017. Only with Grey Next-Gen seats. The other seat...

Reactions to Model X reveal event

Comparing Model X performance with other SUVs

I saw an article entitled "the ten fastest SUVs"; so I thought it would be fun to compare them against Model X. The 4,900lb Model S P85D is a precursor car to the Model X of the same caliber - i.e., high power invertor and so on. The S P85D does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, so I was wondering how fast...
