Wiki Definitive List of Tesla Friendly Browser Apps/Pages

I just saw this thread linked in /r/teslamotors. Could you add Radar Alerts to the list?

0-60 Test App for the Tesla Web Browser

I've been tinkering with a little experiment to calculate stats for 0-60, quarter mile time, and other stats via a web app used with the Tesla web browser. Because the browser API for the GPS only updates at 1Hz, the actual values need to be interpolated. I need the help of anyone and everyone...

    Radar Alerts

Ahh... Sorry for the confusion. No, I was referring to the "radar cone" display within the app. It's the aqua blue/green shaded area on the radar and map. In the screenshot below, you can see one alert that's within the radar cone and appears as a red warning. The others that are to the...

    Radar Alerts

No, the web browser has no API to access CAN data. The Tesla browser uses the standard W3C geolocation API that most other browsers also implement.

    Radar Alerts

@AMPUP I pushed an update to Radar Alerts this morning that adds in other incident types to the map. There are buttons on the left side of the map that allow you to toggle the different types of incidents. Blue indicates they are enabled, and if you tap them, they will go gray and disable...

    WAZE on Model S?

You can try out Radar Alerts for free for 15 days, and see how you like it. The monthly subscription fee is $4.99 after the trial expires. If it's not for you, you can cancel right from the app. Right now it only shows police reports, but I'll be adding other incident types soon (accidents...

    Radar Alerts

No, I haven't "enabled" it to work in mobile browsers, since most users with mobile devices would just opt to use Waze instead. I wish Model 3 had a browser, it would have opened up a whole new market for Radar Alerts.

    Radar Alerts

Hmm, that sounds like it may be a bug. You should only get the red/blue flash when alerts are within a mile or less than 60 seconds away. If you see that again, see if you can safely snap a pic, and email it to info at ev-radar dot com. I'm working on adding other alerts. What I'm planning...

    Radar Alerts

I'm here! :) The alert pop ups will appear when an alert is within the radar cone, and is less than 1 mile away or has an ETA of less than a minute. In order to try to reduce the number of false positives when travelling on highways, when the vehicle speed exceeds 55 mph (88 km/h), the radar...

    Radar alerts

It is only provides police reports. The Tesla nav does a good job of providing traffic data. Go Gators! :) Unfortunately, after processing fees, commissions, hosting fees, etc., I don't have a whole lot of room to drop the price much more and make some profit. Perhaps at some point I may...

    Radar alerts

In the past few months, the app did indeed have some issues. First, Google changed their map API and it broke the display of the markers on the map. I replaced Google Maps with Mapbox, and that resolved the map marker issue. Soon after fixing the map marker issues, I started receiving reports...

At the Model 3 event on Friday at Aventura, they announced the Brickell City Centre urban supercharger was going online "this week". She said that on Friday, so I'm not exactly sure what she meant by it. Did anyone check it out this weekend by chance?

Florida Sales Tax on Post-delivery Software Upgrades (battery capacity unlock, AP, FSD, etc.)

Yeah, I would think the LTE upgrade should have included sales tax for the hardware at least. There probably was an unintentional omission. They're referring to things like SaaS, PaaS, IaaS (Software, Platform, Infrastructure as a Service), which are typically charged as regular subscription...

Florida Sales Tax on Post-delivery Software Upgrades (battery capacity unlock, AP, FSD, etc.)

Does anyone know if sales tax is applied to software upgrades purchased after taking delivery? If sales tax isn't applied, that helps to absorb a bit of the post-delivery upcharge on software upgrades.

Anyone wondering about the "Coming Soon" Supercharger Stations in Florida?

Agreed, that I-75/Turnpike junction (as it is currently constructed) is not a good location for a Supercharger. Northbound turnpike (which is really northeast-bound and eventually eastbound) does not connect to southbound I-75, and southbound I-75 does not connect to northbound turnpike...

Radar Detectors: Your Experience (Simple Implementation)

It's not a radar detector, but it may be worth checking out Radar Alerts. It's a web app that runs in the Tesla web browser that keeps the driver informed of speed traps reported via smartphone apps. No hardware installation necessary, just signup for the free trial and then it's $4.99/mo...

Has anyone traveled Homestead/Miami to Orlando or vice-versa?

You should be able to make it to Ft. Drum without a problem, which is a great Supercharger. It has easy access from both northbound and southbound. If you don't have a destination charger, you may need to backtrack up to Turkey Lake, which isn't as convenient as Ft. Drum. At Turkey Lake, if...

Jacksonville FL Store at St. Johns Town Center?

Excellent! It's too bad they didn't put Superchargers instead, but at least the St. Augustine - Savannah gap has been eliminated by the Kingsland charger.

The "Jacksonville Supercharger" is likely going to be in Kingsland, Georgia.

The news article mentioned parking spaces and charging stations, which is what led me to believe it was a Supercharger and not L2 HPWC. However, I know that sometimes news articles like these do sometimes publish misinformation. I think one article said the new Orlando store was getting...

Who can tell whether there is not an official service center in Miami?

No, only Dania Beach. That service center currently has a very large coverage area, including Miami and all the way down to the keys. I've heard that Tesla does have plans to eventually also open one in the Miami area, but I do not believe any official plans have been yet announced.

Jacksonville FL Store at St. Johns Town Center?

This makes sense, as I don't think the Town Center would be a great location for a full-fledged service station since it's not a warehouse space with bays and such. I read an article this morning that has some details about the location, and I was even able to find the permits. Article is...

Advice on charging options from Naples to Key West

Ben, assuming you you can trickle charge to 100% while you're in Naples, there's no reason to go north to Fort Myers and backtrack back towards Naples again. There's a Whole Foods right off of I-75 in Pembroke Pines that has an L2 J1772 charger, which is right along the way. The address is...

    Supercharger - Plantation, FL

All of the stalls are paired, so there's no guarantee you'd never be sharing chargers. Each pair is marked #A/#B. Some Superchargers have them paired side by side (1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B), and some have them split (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 1B, 2B, 3B, 4B). I believe that most if not all new...

Because Tesla stated in the Q2 shareholder letter that they are going to be retrofitting existing Supercharger sites with the liquid cooled cables: I (incorrectly) assumed that meant they'd also be building new ones with it, since that would be easier and cheaper than retrofitting them.

    Supercharger - Plantation, FL

That's unfortunate, I would have thought all new Superchargers would come with the new design. Maybe they had the equipment sitting in a warehouse since late last year, waiting for the city of Plantation to get it together. It looks like Tallahassee got the older cables as well, from what I...

Let's hope they allow them to stay as-is. For those that have been on-site, have you noticed if the cables are the new, thinner, liquid-cooled variety, or are they the regular big fat ones? It's a bit difficult to tell from the photos, but it looks as though they may be the regular cables.

I didn't realize it was as simple as that. I guess even if the target is SSL and my server/path is regular HTTP, it still shouldn't be a problem. However, I think keeping the connection open for any significant amount of time may be an issue, because a lot of hosts will terminate any...
