Supercharger - Pacific Grove, CA (under construction August 2023, 12 stalls)

Lots of activity. Looks like they are preparing to do some trenching and hopefully progress soon.

I have a roof leak, Tesla says rotten wood

Seems like drilling lots of extra holes would cause leaks in new shingles too. ;)

It's too late, my MCU1 Died....

Can someone explain in layman terms why the read/write behavior that causes the memory failure hasn’t been stopped or reduced to a sustainable amount by a software update? It seems like this problem has been understood by Tesla almost as long as it has been understood by the forum...so why does...

MASTER THREAD: all Smart Summon-related posts go here

yes, this is what I can’t understand. It’s not like Tesla couldn’t find an edge case that presented a dangerous situation. They must have had only a very limited number of successful runs...and still decided (or were forced under threat of termination if history is our guide) to make this...

MASTER THREAD: all Smart Summon-related posts go here

Based on the time waste created by this nonsense, I fully expect FSD (when finally released) to camp out in the left lane of the freeway at the speed limit with 20+ cars behind. Just what we needed...autonomous versions of Honda CRV drivers

Enhanced Summon makes FSD seem light years away

that lady is an innocent bystander, and certainly not a willing participant in this experiment. Maybe if we explain how crucial the share price is to Tesla’s long term viability, she’ll understand... but I don’t think it’s acceptable to test the system when others are around. Easy to imagine...

Model S range and interior update imminent?

Tesla is contractually obligated to buy Panasonic 18650 cells...remember how making there own cells at the gigafactory was aborted, and to get Panasonic to pay for the capital investment needed to produce cells they had to sign a long term purchase agreement?! Powerwalls aren’t going to need to...

    High-usage supercharger station

I think if they had actually sold a few cars to buyers without free supercharging incentives, they would be building MORE Superchargers to serve paying customers, instead of this rather weak effort to trick people into using them less.

    High-usage supercharger station

Tesla doesn't get to complain about early adopters using the SC network for normal use just because they lacked the foresight to establish a policy prior to selling the product. For these specific policy change, I don't understand how they expect to enforce the 80% limit? If you need 95% to...

Why there is so much consternation about Tesla rapid pricing changes

I invite you to read a few threads in the Model 3 forum for clarity. Model 3: Ordering, Production, Delivery You can witness first hand how ‘genius’ it is to have a guy picking up his pride and joy, while the same car has already been reduced several thousand dollars. While you’re marveling at...

Why there is so much consternation about Tesla rapid pricing changes

I didn’t mean to offend your profession. Your original statement was so absolute it actually included the word. The system continues because some buyers meet your description and the reward is more revenue. I agree it’s a wasteful use of resources to have a bunch of amateur psychologists...

Why there is so much consternation about Tesla rapid pricing changes

I’m going to assume you’re being honest and unaware that this statement is patently false. In the US, it’s a rather simple process to understand how a given vehicle is selling, and what level of discount can be negotiated. Many people hate the negotiation process, but it comes at the END of...

Why there is so much consternation about Tesla rapid pricing changes

Sorry guys, reconsidering strategy is great. Flip flopping MAJOR decisions every 3 days isn’t demonstrating high IQ, it’s demonstrating zero planning. They literally reversed store closure decisions when it was pointed out to them that the lease contracts were going to prevent the expected...

Why there is so much consternation about Tesla rapid pricing changes

As a buyer, you can be accommodating or you can be pissed at the bipolar pricing decisions. But unfortunately, the few companies that dictate leasing residuals are going to punish Tesla for these moves. Residuals will probably reflect the lower (end of quarter) transaction prices and that will...

P100D Model S purchase - need to make a quick decision!

These claims of discounted cars are obvious lies! Elon told me so. Oh how I miss the days when 30 fanbois would rush into a thread like this and explain these cars are fixed price during each quarterly firesale.

Elon Musk says Tesla will raise prices and slow down store closures

Elon and Co just learned via the interweb that they are still on the hook for the long-term leases. Dumb. This is late-stage sycophant infestation...no one left to manage the stable genius. The expose books written when this ends are going to be quite the read.

Looks like AP2.0 from the erratic course corrections :)

FUD!!! You guys must be short Tesla. Elon is just building a company that is Hyper-nimble!

    FUD threads in TMC?

I hear that, but I don’t think anyone here is questioning the product. You don’t get to spend OPM forever...at some point, you either sustain yourself, or you are politely asked to stop. Elon talked a lot of smack when Model 3 production was being planned. Everyone in the automotive world...

    FUD threads in TMC?

It’s a natural result from an outlook that has suddenly become very cloudy. Most of the current turmoil was created directly by Tesla’s actions which seem increasingly desperate. Even the biggest fans are starting to get a little nervous. Personally, I have years of warranty coverage left...

    Is this the end?

I agree that it’s unique and a steal for 35k. I didn’t state it clearly, but my point was that to someone that isn’t aware of EV life and all the unique things Tesla has is left looking at a vehicle with roughly the size and build quality of a Honda Civic, and at 35k...it hasn’t compelled them...
  28. U

    Is this the end?

I think it might be (the end). Tesla is making radical changes because they see something on the demand side that we won’t see for a few months in disclosures. I think the 300,000+ people on the waiting list evaporated...and now it’s a $35k ‘Honda Civic’ that just isn’t that compelling. I’m...

    New FSD details

If the definition of FSD isn’t being changed to justify banking the revenue, then there isn’t a reason to reduce the price. Furthermore, if FSD were really about to be released and would stun the public with its functionality...you wouldn’t cut the price just before that moment, especially if...

    New FSD details

Don't forget, this BS allows them to declare previous FSD monies collected as revenue from sales for this quarter...Which I think hasn't been done for any FSD funds since launch in late 2016. More window dressing for the financials to obscure the collapse of the growth narrative.

How many went upside-down on a M3 loan overnight?

I guess it’s good they weren’t leasing yet...Elon should add “residual hell” to his unique lexicon.

    Sudden Unexpected Acceleration today

It’s sometimes hard to be sure an incident is misapplication of the throttle pedal. Thankfully here we have a confirmed attempt to apply the brakes which were “inoperable”...simultaneously with an unintended acceleration. Driver error. If you weren’t able to reason that out on your own, fair...

Reduced price Autopilot & FSD for existing owners announced March 1st

Fair warning, I plan to laugh even harder at anyone buying FSD for a “bargain” now than I do at someone paying $5k for it in late 2016. The difference is in 2016 there was a chance they would actually succeed...if you don’t know better now...3 years later(!), then I’ve got an FSD upgrade to...

    Apple Car Play?

Yes, I’m in the same boat but I’ve been there since 2015. You only need to use the software once to realize it will be the standard and it’s stupid for tesla to still have nothing. No CarPlay, no mirroring, no messages...why fight it. Ironically the situation is very similar to the attitude...

Frame Failure called "Normal Wear and Tear" by Tesla Service

It’s a 2012...everything on the car is prototype. It’s like having a model 3 built in 2017. You are basically driving a development mule. That said, if the design hasn’t changed and every rear subframe fails those bushing ears at 170k, it won’t be very good PR for Tesla. Unlimited mile...

Elon Musk: EAP solved, on track for FSD completion in 2019 (No one else is close!)

Lots of interesting stuff being discussed here. When do the optimistic minded of you suggest we start selling the system? Also, could you be more specific about the hardware needed? I have to start building the boards for this FSD system.

Navigate on Autopilot is Going to Cause Accidents

Now we can see why they added the step to have the driver confirm the lane change. Without that step, the car would cause numerous accidents. Gut punch to the hope that the advertised EAP functionality was close to completion.

    Washer Fluid Warning

I had that warning in the past but now it’s gone. I just ran out. Probably another ‘improvement “ from cost reduction on newer cars or model 3

Elon Musk: EAP solved, on track for FSD completion in 2019 (No one else is close!)

Exactly. This is the part I can never understand. This is the proof of concept that would surely be complete before a company would 1) spec the hardware, 2) launch production, and 3) start selling. Like some here, I applaud Tesla’s willingness to let us drive quasi test cars, and I think...

    EAP Maxed Out?

I'm sorry, but EAP that requires the driver to confirm a lane change does NOT deliver on the promised feature. Tesla has already explained that the intent was that it would happen automatically (as described at the time, and within the last 2 months)...it just didn't work. They had to...
  44. U

    EAP Maxed Out?

I guess some here are unaware that AP1 Summons used to attempt more elaborate maneuvers than the current capability of ‘straight while someone holds a dead-man switch’. Tesla confidence means nothing...they were confident AP1 could do a 3 point turn out of a parking garage, until YouTube...
  45. U

    EAP Maxed Out?

Wow. Try reading my statement again. MB doesn’t claim that your car will come pick you without backing over babies...that would be reckless. There is a logical ‘duke boys pond jump’ apparent in your summary question. Smh.
  46. U

    EAP Maxed Out?

Try reflection. When AP7 is released, you will have a better understanding of why a couple rear facing cameras and short range ultrasonics were never enough to prevent backing over babies and running into things. They are already discussing AP3. Does Tesla need to make a press release...
  47. U

    EAP Maxed Out?

We don’t need rear facing radar! Just have the driver assume liability and confirm each lane change. How on earth could you consider this “delivery” of the sold EAP capability?!

    Software Update 2018.42.x

This seems absurd. These are very common freeway interchange layouts. Someone needs to make a YouTube video of a ‘drive on nav’ Tesla endlessly circulating around a cloverleaf... Discouraging. This release seems confirm just how far Tesla is from actual FSD.
  49. U

Will post-delivery FSD option go away?

Exactly. This is actually why I never thought they had a chance. Proof of concept stage involves more computational power than needed, and then you start deciding what you need and what you can do without for cost, speed, etc. They NEVER completed proof of concept...just straight to specing...
