If the car buyer doesn't want it, then yes. Back with more info when I have it.

Damaged 2008 1.5 for quick sale, runs and drives fine.

Is it better to use my own code (in which case I'll need to get one) or my friend's code?

Damaged 2008 1.5 for quick sale, runs and drives fine.

Thinking of going with a model 3 because it will fit our family better for next little while. My 16 year old daughter is still learning to drive and our Toyota Sienna is kind of big and she's not allowed to drive the roadster. Then, after a couple of years, I'm going to want to add back a...

Damaged 2008 1.5 for quick sale, runs and drives fine.

I'm putting up my 2008 1.5 (#311) for sale as is. If it sells within the next week, then great. If not, then I'll go ahead and get it fixed. I just don't want to wait for the repair to get done as this is my daily driver. The car still runs and drives fine. There are no error messages...

    ouch, roadster accident, video evidence

I took my car into the body shop yesterday to get an estimate. Had to strap down my hood because both my hood hinges are severed, but the car drove reasonably well and stayed cool. They are compiling the estimate, so I don't have it yet. Anyway, they told me a roadster came into their shop in...

    ouch, roadster accident, video evidence

Aww, that's a shame you got hit that way. Noted about the unavailable parts and you're right that we'll need many of the same parts. Questions, if you don't mind: were they able to quote the repair even if they couldn't do it? If so, roughly how expensive? Is the other insurance company...

    ouch, roadster accident, video evidence

Thanks to all for your concern and suggestions. Will start by seeing what our insurance company wants to do and go from there. Thanks and noted Javier. Glad also to have the extra analysis of the accident. For example, we hadn't noticed the pedestrians that the SUV should have stopped for...

    ouch, roadster accident, video evidence

Forgot to say my wife is fine. It was the first thing I asked when she called after the accident. After finding out she was fine, I headed to the accident site but I still didn't know if it was in the Roadster or our minivan. Admittedly, on the way, I was saying to myself "be the van, be the...

    ouch, roadster accident, video evidence

My wife was driving our 2008 1.5 today in Laguna Beach when an SUV pulled out in front of her. She hit the brakes, but you'll see the impact. An office across the street got it on their security video and attached here are pictures from that video. Hoping this is enough that our insurance...

    Roadster Service E-Mail

Important info, especially Southern California. It appears to be real that Tesla is stepping up service for Roadster owners. After first sending an email 3 hours ago to: [email protected], I got an amazing call from the Tesla service center regarding service on roadsters. My...

Need feedback on Roadster for daily driver

I bought my 2008 roadster 3.5 years ago and it's my daily driver. I've put 18,000 miles on it and I'm very pleased with the reliability so far. A roadster is going to be way more fun, and you'll look forward to every drive. You'll also have many people ask you about your car. However, it is...

    coolant leak, need advice

Here's the final MacGyver fix where I drilled a hole in the cap to prevent coolant splashing out. I've driven at least 100 miles since doing this and haven't lost any coolant. Trying to get a replacement reservoir. Is our reservoir also used on some other car? In other words, can I get the...

    coolant leak, need advice

PROBLEM FOUND! The advice from all of you has been very helpful. As is usually the case, I'm not the first to have this problem. Upon closer inspection of my coolant tank, I found that there was a drip flow down the main hose from the bottom of the coolant tank. See attached picture...

    coolant leak, need advice

Went out to my 2008 roadster this morning and there was a puddle of coolant as shown in the attached picture. I charged last night, FYI. I refilled the reservoir with coolant and found that it only drips when the pump is running. See other attached pictures. I can't tell if the leak is at...

    Roadster 3.0

Yes, I sold my 914 EV 2 summers ago to a Frenchman looking to start an EV conversion company, a couple of years after getting my Roadster. I sort of sold it sooner than that (and for $7k more), but the guy backed out when I was unable to get a trucking company to take the car during the exact...

    Roadster 3.0

You guys are missing out on a lot of fun. Is there some risk and occasional hassle? Absolutely. But is it worth it? To me, it is. Big fun every time I drive and I'm putting on about 5,000 miles per year.

    need wiper blade recommendation

Hey Nak. Do you happen to know what is the brand of the ones they sell at the service center? For now, I've ordered the Bosch Icon's and will give them a try. Just curious what OEM is. Sometimes Harbor Freight has good stuff and sometimes junk. Good to know from Xlr8 that their wipers are...

    need wiper blade recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for the best wiper blades for our roadsters? With the curve of the windshield, I find that my blade doesn't contact my windshield near the blade tip until the wiper has moved some. Replacement blades I've bought can't follow the contour as well as I'd like.

    Roadster Cell Phone mounting solutions?

What roadster type do you have or what's your vin #? If a 1.5, check my recent post on same subject of phone mounting solution.
  31. Carl W

    better roadster phone mount

I should have put "1.5" in the title. I couldn't remember if 2.x roadsters have a bit of the aluminum tray exposed, but I now think the answer is no. So you're right that this solution is only for 1.5 owners.

    better roadster phone mount

At the recent 10th annual roadster gathering, someone gave me a plastic partition for my dash tray which was 3D printed and apparently modeled after a Lotus part. Thanks to that person (sorry, didn't catch your name). I ended up re-designing it a bit so that it fit tighter and also made a...

    Could this be a Scam?

You are right to be suspicious, but it might be okay. Let us know how it works out. As long as the deposit clears, should be okay. But if they ask you to spend any money beforehand, I think it's a big warning.

    parking light issue, need advice

Thanks! Based on where the rubber covers were compared to where the parking light is, I didn't think it was accessible that way. Good to know that's how it works.

    parking light issue, need advice

My 2008 roadster passenger side parking light that is within the headlight assembly is out and I don't know how to access the bulb. As you'll see in the pictures, I'm talking about the tiny light that is just above the high beam light. I wouldn't really care that it's out except I keep getting...

    roadster key fob reinforcement

The key fob body for my 2008 1.5 cracked and gluing it back together didn't work. My ignition takes a bit more torque to twist than usual, and so I needed to either replace my key or to reinforce it. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem or not, but just in case, here's what I did...

    Newest roadster owner!

Count me in on that gathering, too. I'm in Laguna Beach. Let me know when and where! Regarding parking and worrying about scratches, I park everywhere and just take chances because I want to drive daily and I don't want to stress. I think getting scratches in 48 hours of getting the car is...

    dashboard askew

That's a great offer. Thanks. You're only 47 miles drive each way, so range won't be a problem. I'm pretty sure I can make it on Saturday morning, though I need to confirm. Any particular time work best for you?
  46. Carl W

    dashboard askew

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try. The instructions seem to be for a 2.0 or later car, so I'm not sure if it's different for mine being that it has my main display in it. Anyway, appreciate the help.

    dashboard askew

I just noticed that the driver's side dash panel in my 1.5 roadster is out of position (the lip is completely exposed). I have no idea how long it has been like this or how it could have happened. Possibly it was this way when I bought the car almost 3 years ago, or maybe Gremlins pulled it...

    Super horn

Maybe I should go with La Cucuracha? That way when I honk, people will think I'm a food truck.
  49. Carl W

    Super horn

The horn on my 1.5 doesn't seem unusually quiet (even if it is quieter than 2.0 and above roadsters), but I recently had an SUV in front of me, and while we were both stopped, he suddenly went into reverse (I saw his reverse lights go on) and I immediately started honking my horn, but he just...

    Super horn

I've had 2 different people in big SUV's try to back into my car in the past several weeks and I wish for a super loud horn in order to warn them to stop. Clearly, they simply can't see me being that the Roadster is so low to the ground. After a quick look under the hood, I don't see my horn...
