There’s every chance ..... Be sure to check your contact details are correct in your Tesla account, speak to Tesla and make sure they are not seeming anything on their system that would prevent a match happening and then just keep watching the ship on here / via one of the tracking sites like your life depends on it ! Good luck

I never thought I’d be so interested in tracking ships! Good point about calling Tesla. Will look to call this week :)

GLOVIS SUN is just entering the Windward Passage. She is making 17.9 kts at the moment and has averaged 18.1 kts over the last 24 hours which is impressive. Later today she will enter the Atlantic. The weather looks good for her Atlantic passage. No change to my estimate of Zeebrugge on 5 Aug and Southampton possibly on 8 Aug.

Meanwhile GRAND DAHLIA is making excellent progress too. She has sailed 400nm since leaving Pier 80 yesterday and is maintaining 18.1kts with 2914nm to go to Balboa.
I estimate she will arrive there in the early hours of 2 Aug at her current rate.
Her AIS ETA is the morning of 1 Aug, and so a bit more speed is required.
The weather looks fair for the next couple of days at least. She will want to keep her speed up to ensure she gets ahead of the remnants of Hurricane Hanna when it arrives into the Pacific late Tue/Wed.

GLOVIS CAPTAIN will arrive alongside Pier 80 in the small hours of tomorrow morning.
I don't have her departure details yet but I'm not expecting her to depart before Thursday 30th.

Rather sadly I am keeping an eye on a ship that is 3 weeks away from Zeebrugge when I don’t even know if my car is on it.

However there are upsides. Spotted a smaller ship near to current location for the DAHLIA. It’s a tug.

One of the photos on Marine Traffic for that tug wins the shipping internet today. I feel like I’m saving the whale, umm by shipping a car (maybe) half way round the world to run at zero emissions. Yay.

The GLOVIS SUN has left now the Caribbean Sea and is now entering the Atlantic Ocean via the Caicos Passage. She is making 18.4 kts and has 3909 nm to go to Zeebrugge. Her ETA Zeebrugge is 5 Aug.
I will hopefully regularly update the chart below with her position as she crosses the Atlantic but I will ensure I get her position at midday UTC 31 July so I can declare the winner of the Glovis Sun competition. That competition is closed now but you can still enter the GRAND DAHLIA competition - See post #4506 to enter.

I just had confirmation I now have a VIN. It's not on the Glovis, so my guess it's on DAHLIA if heads to Southampton.

I'll be tracking it with a very keen eye

are there any model x's on these ships?

NO

No matter how many times you ask the answer is still no

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland). They are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam. There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

My current car took this very route, and back in the day we'd get an update from Tesla when it had left the factory and could work out which Maersk ship it was on. Without any hitches the process detailed above takes 8 weeks.

As Tesla don't update anymore I'm going to wait until the hidden VIN appears and then subscribe to @Vedaprime tracking service. At that point I'll at least know the cars on a boat.

The GLOVIS SUN's position at midday Z is marked on the chart below. It is still on track to arrive in Zeebrugge of 5 Aug with Model 3s (no Model S or X are onboard). The next stop will hopefully then be Southampton around 8 Aug.

The GRAND DAHLIA continues to make excellent progress towards Balboa. It also has no Model S or Model Xs onboard. She is averaging about 428nm a day and has 2414nm to go to the canal entrance. We will lose land based AIS coverage of her in about 14 hours. There is still time to enter the GRAND DAHLIA competition.

The GLOVIS CAPTAIN is arriving at Pier 80 to load more Model 3s for Europe. (No Model S or Xs) I don't have her departure details yet but I'm not expecting her to depart before Thursday 30th. She should arrive in Zeebrugge around 21 Aug.
