Just a copy paste from the other parts of the forums on 7.1:
"We recently reported on Tesla starting to push new Autopilot restrictions to some Model S owners last Sunday – about a month after Tesla CEO Elon Musk warned of upcoming constraints to limit some potentially dangerous use of the Autopilot as seen in videos posted online. The Model S owners reporting on forums having received the update with new Autopilot restrictions have quickly removed their posts. We now learn through sources with knowledge of matter that Tesla started testing the new version 7.1 of its software with a select group of Model S owners this week.
The new update includes UI improvements, a new self-parking feature, ‘Driver Mode’ and Autopilot restrictions. The v7.1 user interface allows the driver to visualize on the dashboard the vehicles detected by the Autopilot on each lane and not only on the one the Model S is driving. The vehicle animations now include trucks and motorcycles instead of just cars. Tesla introduced ‘Autopark’ in its v7.0 update in October, but the wide release of the feature currently requires the driver to be in the car and only works for parallel parking. In the beta v7.1, the company added the ability to use Autopark in parking spaces perpendicular to the curb, but under the current version being tested, the driver still need to be in the front seat.
No Model S driving itself in the garage … yet.
Update: v7.1 beta also includes a new feature to open your garage door automatically via HomeLink, which could be a precursor to summoning the car/Autopark from outside the vehicle feature.
In beta v7.1, Tesla is also introducing a new ‘Driver Mode’ to be activated when only a driver is using the vehicle, which lets only the driver side door handle to automatically extend when approaching the vehicle.
We don’t know when Tesla plans to release v7.1, but the previous beta update was first released to early testers in mid-August and the wide release happened in mid-October. The wait should presumably be shorter for v7.1 since the new update features significantly fewer changes than v7.0."
I am also interested in the AP restrictions but I personally don't think it will be anything that will subtract too much from our current experience. Also hope they bring in the web browser for Australia. Like really just give us a web browser even in park.

in very truth, those few upgrades are enough for me to want it regardless of the restrictions on ap stupidity

From the new firmware release notes (not a forced Hong Kong style update but a standard update):
"Autosteer cannot be activated above 45mph on roads without a center divider or residential roads."
There is no information about exactly what the definition of a center divider is nor how a residential road is defined/detected.
Lots of speculation, though.
Quite happy to wait and see what evolves as there seems to be one other feature in the new firmware as well which sounds quite attractive - perpendicular parking (eg back into supercharger spot) and one gimmick for P vehicles - launch mode.

Thanks, MrAustraliaTax. Amazing, almost funny, to see the hysteria created over this in the Model S forum- will be interesting to see what it means in practice.

Not me. Both model s's are without download, although noting LGGD recieved 7.0 about 2 weeks before everyone else......so we are getting closer.

No 7.1 for me either. How would LGGD get an earlier update? surely these are sent out across Australia by the 3G to everyone at the same time.
Actually it requires your car be connected to wifi (obviously Tesla draws a line somewhere when it comes to 3G data...can you blame them)
I also reckon they roll out the update so as to relieve stress on their own servers... I mean could be a few gigs of data per car... So SLOWLY is the key

Maybe it's a safety feature... One can rely on US parents to hit the key fob to stop the car in case a baby goes crawling behind the wheels... but in Australia there are too many jumping 'roos...

Ahh right... I didn't know that. That actually makes me feel a little better somewhat.

Lucky I printed the web page promising this feature to Aussie owners BEFORE Kasey Krape had it removed.
Now the fun discussions can start, as tesla australia are conducting false and misleading conduct to make sales.
Of course if they want to give a proper timeline on when we will have door opening and summon, instead of "the engineers are treating it seriously" than waiting is no problem.
