Hi, i've just finished a 24 hours test drive on a S75D. And discovered that despite his relatively low Vin number it has a 85kwh battery and new drive unit ( same feeling lime deiving a 90D). This is the first 75D with 85kwh battery in Italy as far as i know.
I've ordered my S75D on the 29 of July, it entered production one the 23 of august and left the freemont factory on 28 of august my vin is 5YJSA7E28HF2136xx.
My option link is:https://www.tesla.com/it_IT/mytesla...037,X039,X043,YFCC&rn=RN4110xxx&src=dashboard

I am really disappointed about not having a BTX8 option... that is unfair!!!!

What do you think?
Asked elon for sub 5 second software update via twitter (taking into account 'New hardware needed for 4.2'). Others should too! Sometimes he listens lol

The fact that Tesla is all cloak and dagger about this doesn't bode well either. Tweetboy would've taken to his account and touted the uncorking surprise regarding older 75 cars awhile ago. Unless they're still trying to figure out a way to do it with the least harm. Maybe they're thinking of offering a path similar to the P85D Ludicrous option so people aren't left in the cold, so to speak.

I don't know.. I get the feeling nothing will be done unless owners gather their torches and pitchforks and head, figuratively, to Palo Alto. Prove me wrong, Musk.

It would be reasonable for Tesla to offer a paid upgrade option to get this performance on cars built before June. Of course I'd like it for free but I'd imagine there's some cost to tesla in terms of increased powertrain wear driving more warranty claims. I just don't know how much that increase is and maybe that's why tesla is being some guarded about this as they gather data.

I would think that the performance difference is an important component of the downsell of the model 3 and push for model s. Maybe once there are more deliveries of the model 3 the pressure to provide a path to upgraded performance will be provided whether free or not.

For what it's worth, I escalated a question regarding the over the air update to the executive team on mytesla. Below is the reply I just received.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

The update you are referring to applies to vehicles that were produced in July of this year or later. It appears as though your vehicle was produced in February of this year and therefore does not contain the hardware capable of receiving this update.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know!

here is my response from Tesla concerning uncorking i asked for a specific cutoff date response below

Thank you for contacting Tesla Technical Support. We really appreciate you taking the time to document your feedback/concern in regards to the recent performance update available on the Model S and Model X.

Vehicles that were built before 06/19/17
were not included in the performance update but still has the same amazing core features that they did before and will continue to be improved over time, like only a Tesla can be.

These updates are not available to be retrofitted. Should you have any further questions or concern, please don’t hesitate to email or call us directly at 1877-798-3752.

Tiki torches?

Back on topic ... we really need to find out what the story is with the CPO cars.
If they really aren't 4.2s then Tesla will be legally exposed for describing as such in the ads.
If they are 4.2s then obviously a software upgrade is all that's required.

Also, show some respect to Elon.

It's entirely possible that since inventory cars are still in Teslas possession, they can do the requisite HW upgrade as well before delivery.

I think it is important to also ask and be specific with owner vehicles and Tesla inventory vehicles. I've been told the inventory vehicles, regardless of production will have the performance upgrade when sold and delivered to new owners. At least this is what I have been told regarding the unit I'm in the process of purchasing. I think that could be a factor.

I picked up the car on Saturday. Yay! Though Saturday night as I was polishing the car, like we all do on day 1, I noticed a chip on the windshield at the very bottom. You can't see it if you don't look at the black area of the windshield. Waiting to hear back from SC.

In any case, to stay on topic, when my DS emailed me about the date and that the SC dept will check on the car. I replied back saying while they are at it, can you make sure it has the latest performance. I forgot to type update...he wrote back and said it has the latest. I haven't had a chance to run tests as I've been busy trying to coat protection before PPF is installed in 2 weeks. I can tell it is really fast. As fast as the demo car with the new drive unit. I know mine is still rocking the old one as it was produced back in April. What's interesting was the car was reset by SC prior to my appointment and during my walk through, I saw the avg kWh was 768! I then asked the guy helping me with orientation. He said yeah when we reset the car it's like that...and for a 90% charge it shows it could go 84 miles at that rate.

I honestly am scared to find out the truth as it might make me not like the car if I find out it's still a 5.2 vs 4.2...being really honest here.

....so i would need an owner who actually has a pre 6/19 build with proof of performance ....
If you would take a non US car look @rsan runlogs in the Upgraded Performance Metrics page. Living in Australia, rsan's car, VIN199xxx, had a production date of 22 May and was delivered the week of 17 July. rsan confirmed the performance upgrade before taking delivery. And rsan timed the car's 0-60\0-100 times at 4.25 and 4.4 seconds respectively. If you need a US inventory or CPO car we are still waiting for one to be documented. But Tesla can still say that it required new hardware, even if it just requires fuses or new inverter firmware.

...I saw the avg kWh was 768...
So I am a little embarrassed to have been quoting that we have 800hp motors .

Also where do people do tests? It's not like I can do a full stop in the middle of a highway and then hit it. The local roads have 45mph limit and they aren't all flat...
The best legal way to run these tests is to find a flat, straight highway onramp. If you don't have any 60mph roads find a local airstrip.

Guys, I have now in my possession a loaner S75 6/17 build date with old SW (I assume--since it's scheduled to have new SW installed tonight)

I can tell right off the bat, this car doesn't have the 'perf' update mine has.

I can try to run some tests before/after the SW update to see if it makes any difference. I know a lot of you are on iOS using Power Tools, but I don't have an iPhone.

Is there any app you want me to use in Android to do the measurements?
