The Gizmo comes with many additional features and it's easy to just remove the module and be right back at stock. Installed the ghost modules on 2020 MY since it had the 980 motor. Never in close to 3 years of driving was there an issues.
What metric are you using noting Tesla can't reliably perform upgrades? The way I look at it, apps on a phone are never reliably upgrade for they keep upgrading to newer version.
