Have heard the radio ads. That seems to be the vibe, electricity as just another fuel source in the mix
Also a TV ad that I saw tonight.
Tag line "With Amplify Premium fuels and AmpCharge rolling out across Australia,Ampol powers our way of life"

Anyhow had managed to record a program with my DVR so grabbed a few pics.

Petrol station at the start seems to be a render but it's definitely an ABB Terra charger, and another ABB wall charger in one of the closing scenes.

Will be interesting would Ampol plans in the home.. I could see a model where they install shared chargers in corporate carparks or strata apartments but unsure about an individual home.

Ampol clearly going for first mover advantage. Will the other petrol station operators follow?

With the exit of Caltex, Ampol does have a new-broom-ish feel about it, trying to make their own mark.

While I decry the whole fossil fuel ecosystem, at least they have spotted an opportunity and have the courage to go after it, while others in that same industry are either ignoring and hoping it will go away, or worse are openly hostile to it.

So I guess good on them for that.

Ampol is the same company that was trading under the Caltex brand, just the trademark licensing deal with Chevron expired and wasn't renewed after a demerger with Chevron who own the trademark. Ampol is a revived trademark of the company that originally merged with Chevron.

No demerger.

Caltex Australia had been ASX listed for years with Chevron has a 50% shareholder and way back in the past had acquired Ampol in 1995.

Chevron sold that stake in 2015 then decided not to renew the brand licensing in 2019 which forced the move to Ampol branding, and change of company name.
In 2020, Chevron acquired Puma (also owns Gull and Choice), and there has been some speculation that they might rebrand those stations to Caltex.

It is more than speculation. It is stated company policy. The question remains how many.
"As part of this transition, you might notice some changes as we commence rebranding selected Puma sites to Caltex and opening new Caltex service stations. The national rebranding program will continue through 2023."

There are already new service stations in the pipeline using Caltex branding from the start in promotional material for co-lease holders, namely then new Bowning service centre on the Hume. (With DA mention of 5 ev chargers whatever that is worth).

It's like oil version of the Kraft cheese carry on. Something along the Mondelez Australia sold their "Kraft" operations to Bega and the right to use the Kraft name expired so the brand was changed to Dairylea. Now Kraft re-entered the market with Kraft branded cheese, thats not exactly the same as the orginal but has the orginal name, and Dairylea still sells their stuff too and they tatse basically exactly the same. Coles sells Dairylea and Wollies sells Kraft.

Interesting. photo added yesterday (Mon afternoon) by an account named ellamiranda (it's a bit wet in Sydney today)..

I'm guessing might be a connection to Ampol given this interview and the name

That's an 'interesting' sign: 'Electric vehicle parking only while charging'. Would be fairly easy to argue if no-one is charging, then the parking is OK for any ICE...

Or one could argue that “Electric Vehicle Parking” is the dominant clause, as it written first and is in larger print. The “only while charging” clause is the implied subordinate clause, meaning, it needs to be read only if the dominant clause is true.

ICE doesn’t satisfy the dominant clause, so that’s that.
