Ignoring the range, how is the comfort of driving with 22" Onyx wheels?
The 22" wheels and tires I just got are 9#'s lighter in front and 5.5#'S in rear compared to the 20" stock tesla wheels. The wheels were the same price tesla wanted for the 22" upgrade but still needed to buy tire so 1.2k more but in my option a much better option.
I'm getting around 3-4% gain. Nothing scientific but comparing my whm on same road with similar weather and I'm seeing slightly less whm.Did you notice that your range improved compared to the 20" wheels?
I'll be testing this on my next visit. If they try blaming poor windshield wiper performance on the aftermarket wheels I'll laugh in their faces.only thing I know Tesla do not like you bringing in the car with aftermarket wheels... they will blame the rims for whatever is remotely possible for faults
I had no issues when I brought my X in on winter tires and 19" aftermarket wheels. The SC took care of my wind noise and performed annual service including wheel alignment.only thing I know Tesla do not like you bringing in the car with aftermarket wheels... they will blame the rims for whatever is remotely possible for faults
did the loaner have less ghosting on the windshield?I got a loaner with 22" rims while my MX with 20" rims was in the shop and honestly the only advantage the 22" provided was aesthetics. They were loud (road noise), bumpy (harsh ride), had reduced traction on wet surfaces and reduced range. I was sooooo happy to get my MX with 20" rims back.

You're confusing us. When you say your loaner had 22" wheels it makes us think it was an X loaner since 22" wheels are not available on the S.Ha, glad you asked! The ghosting on the loaner was barely perceptible, if you looked really close you could see a little. On a scale of 1-10, I would say the MS was a 2 and my MX is a 9.
Noticeably harsher. You feel every jolt, every expansion joint, and every bridge transition MUCH more than you do with 20" wheels. They also have much more road noise because of the different tires they come with. Looks are the ONLY reason to get 22's, and I prefer the looks of them myself. Sure, handling will be slightly better, but I seriously doubt many people are taking their MX to the track where it would make a difference.
Oops sorry about that I meant 21" wheels on my model S loaner. You're confusing us. When you say your loaner had 22" wheels it makes us think it was an X loaner since 22" wheels are not available on the S.
Model X loaners do exist. I got one two weeks ago when they had my Model X in for service. You're confusing us. When you say your loaner had 22" wheels it makes us think it was an X loaner since 22" wheels are not available on the S.
I didn't say they didn't exist. Heck, I've had one myself. He made an observation about the 21" wheels on his X loaner. Then in another post said something about an S loaner. Model X's don't come with 21" wheels. They come with 20" or 22" wheels. I was trying to figure out if he had an X loaner or an S loaner since he mentioned both.Model X loaners do exist. I got one two weeks ago when they had my Model X in for service.
