I hope they don’t say “oh yours has been here two weeks - we lost your contact details”…or rather, that would be pretty good. Hope they do say thatCool thanks, Ive emailed the SA to see if they can have a look to make sure everything is sweet. Ill report back if/when i hear.

Don Juan: Car Carrier & Details and current position, IMO 9082934 | Shipnext
Vessel Don Juan, IMO 9082934 is a Car Carrier built in 1995 and currently sailing under the flag of the Singaporeshipnext.com
One of my former staff does some weekend work for a company that moves ultra-high-end cars around Australia on very specialised transporters. He's a skinny guy who knows how to drive, and can get out of a car in a tight place. He gets to drive the cars onto the transporters. He's driven all sorts of cars I've never even been close to (think Bugatti Veyron, McLarens, Aston Martins, Paganis, and so on), but never more than about 100m each, and only in first gear and reverse!I wonder if they are hiring. It would be a pretty cool job driving new teslas on and off boats
It does seem stacked against us.. especially if DJ and GC berth at similar times at what is probably the busiest time of year for logistics in general. At least there's a wide window for delivery (Jan-Mar).. but I'm certainly hoping it's sooner rather than later.Just been poking around some shipping schedules...
M/V Don Juan (due into Shanghai early on 15 Dec) has a booking at Port Kembla on 4/5 January:

Now I know (as the poor sods waiting for Model Y vehicles on Glovis Caravel have learned through sad experience) that this is all subject to change... but it's hopeful. Let's hope that the stop in Shanghai is to pick up just Model 3s, and that there are no 'other brands' coming on board that have been parked in open fields.
The uncertainty of the timing of the unloading of Glovis Caravel does give me pause to think: if it is able to land its cargo soon (no guarantees!), what does that do to Tesla's logistics? Can they handle a ship full of Model Ys very close to a ship full of Model 3s?
In the first three quarters of 2023, Tesla sold just over 23,000 Model Ys in Australia. GC was supposed to have enough cars on board to clear backlog and provide inventory for some period of time. If the idea was that it had most of the Model Ys that would be required for around three months at the same rate of consumption that's been experienced year to date, that would indicate that there must be 7,000 or 8,000 Model Ys on board (sounds like a lot to me, so my assumption is probably wrong). Whatever the answer is, there must be a huge backlog of Model Ys to clear!
Let's assume that Glovis Caravel is able to land in the next week or so (again, no guarantees). Don Juan will land only a couple of weeks later. I suspect that together these arrivals will create a huge bubble of processing for Tesla. Things may take a little longer than expected!
(Nobody wishes for this, but I suppose it's possible that Glovis Caravel will be sent back to China if the Stink Bug problem proves to be so intractable that the vessel has to be unloaded for more intensive treatment of the cargo and the ship itself. All bets are off if that happens.)
Just some musings by someone who used to work in an importing/distributing company, and who has some experience of watching/tracking vessels over the last 15 years.
I was thinking about rearranging the letters just to annoy people with ocd. Will anyone else here be debadging their model 3 when they get it? Either that, or changing the front logo and rear lettering black? They really need to stop putting chrome as the standard badge color on these cars.
