So i am uber nerding in the source code and all the order page wordings are actually all there for all circumstances as templates.

So i don't think it's a "new wording". I think it's related to where your order is up to and a variable sets it.

The old one ("based on order date, profile submission, delivery location" yadda yadda) is still in the code as the "defaultDateTime" message.

The new one ("update based on configuration availability" yadda yadda) is there as "estimatedDeliveryTiming".

There's also:

"EstimatedDeliveryDates" consisting of ##date1## and ##date2##.

"estimatedDeliveryTBD": self explanatory.

"estimatedDeliveryTimingBlank": "Delivery timing will be available soon".

"estimatedDeliveryTimingWithVin": "We will reach out to schedule your delivery soon"

"estimatedDeliveryWeeksFromOrderPlaced": "##date1## and ##date2## from Order placed date". Our old friend for most of the year.

"notifyArrived": "We will notify you when your car has arrived at your delivery location"

And a few others but i am sick of typing this now and you likely take my point.
I assume you come from a developer background.

I had a look at the source code and concluded the same thing. The update in wording was not manually triggered by staff from the operations department or any be-spoke change. It could be safely assumed that the order transitioned from one internal state to another, which has caused the change in this text to happen.

In human-readable English, the order has changed to a new status, that we cannot see using the management portal, but the text change is a by-product of this status change. Optimistically I think we can all assume that it is related to Q3 delivery.

Last night an Ioniq 5 drove past me on a dark road. The light signature is amazing, both front and rear - there's no way it could be mistaken for anything else.

The Kia's styling doesn’t do it for me. I don’t think it will date well, but the Ioniq is brilliant.
Rode past an EV6 the other day, it was a lot bigger than what I thought it'd be. The matte finish was very nice though.

The source code hasn't changed much, the key of that text blob has changed (due to status transition) and that makes the paragraph change.
I would agree with you if I could find the old text in the source (and therefore the old state), which I can't.

"We will reach out to you to schedule your delivery date. Delivery time frame will be based on reservation date, order date, delivery location and vehicle configuration."

I have
defaultDateTime:"We will reach out to you to schedule your delivery date. Delivery time frame is based on order date, profile submission, delivery location and vehicle configuration.", estimatedDeliveryMessage: { estimatedDeliveryTiming:"Delivery timing will update based on configuration availability. We will reach out to schedule your delivery when your VIN is assigned.", estimatedDeliveryTimingBlank:"Delivery timing will be available soon", estimatedDeliveryTimingWithVin:"We will reach out to schedule your delivery soon", }, EstimateDelivery: { copyOverride: "Estimated delivery: Aug - Nov 2022", message: "Delivery timing will update based on configuration availability. We will reach out to schedule your delivery when your VIN is assigned.", }

Which is close enough, I think the text blob is slightly different from state to state.

As a 5/2/22 LR order looking at Broony's VIN with a fair bit of optimism for once in a long while

My order was similar blue/black LR and ordered a day after you (10 Dec). I really wanted YLR but estimated that they wouldn't be available until 2023 and I am getting older by the minute (80 next year) so am desperate to have my EV before I get too feeble to drive. Now it looks as though Y customers may have their MY before I get my M3LR. Feeling a tad annoyed!
I recon you'll love driving the LR more than the Y. Given there is no LR Y (which would be ideal) I think you're better off - as long as you can get in and out of it! :)

That futuristic boxy 80s design aesthetic just hits me in all the right places. Same with the Ioniq 5. They clearly went for the 80s child nostalgia jugular.
I hear you! The Polestar is scandi-cool muscle car and the Ioniq 5 is retro Pony/Lancia Integrale vibes.

The model 3 is becoming more common and you see it all the time but I still recon it's a sleek and cool looking car. It's also more slippery which makes for better efficiency than the other two.

Order date: 6.12.2022
Model 3 LR Red/black
Vin received: 11.07.2022
Making sure this isn't a typo. You ordered last month, and got a VIN already? Very surprising
Oh I was wrong, all along I had it in my head I ordered on 15/2, nope, 23/2!
Other than ebizz above potentially, I think this makes you the latest order date for a VIN assignment. Trying to not get my hopes up for my 04 Mar order getting a VIN this batch, but the excitement is irrepressible
