There's a lot of misinformation out there and lots of MAGA supporters with a Tesla boner...

Without actual footage or even with footage, can you prove that FSD was enabled and driving? (blue icons). Was the driver in control of the car? What version was the car driving? and Cmon in real world, if you had FSD on in a residential area and a kid jumped out.. Tell me you wouldn't hit the brakes....

I know FSD isn't perfect but Don't believe everything you read

Drove about 200km in the pouring rain on Saturday. Mixed urban, freeway and rural highways. Auto wipers worked flawlessly, cruise control is exceptional - speedo reads 1% fast so that is a bonus - still coming to terms with the Autopilot. Works well on rural roads but gets uncomfortably close to large semis and other cars on the freeway at times. Also the way it takes the bends does not really match the driving habits of those around you. Everyone, including me, likes to hug the inside line markings rounding curves but Elon thinks that shouldn't be a thing and Autopilot stoically sticks to the middle of the lane slightly freaking all in the nearby vicinily. This is on Brisbane's manic roads occupied by race trained tradies trying to do PBs getting to wherever they go.
Charging is a no brainer with the UMC. Waiting for sparky to come and install the outdoor 10A outlet so we can neaten up the installation.
Was driving since pickup on Chill Mode and tried Normal Mode yesterday. Faaaaaaaark what a difference! Talk about Jekyll and Hyde! Extremely responsive to the point of not being passenger friendly and so much more power.
All up?
Very satisfied after a 750km week.
Enjoy when you get yours! We certainly are!

Surely Elon just needs to attach the application to a lump of coal or iron ore to get waved through in Australia ;)

I think just like the stupid VIC EV tax court case.. if we get enough EV/Tesla voices in the conversation then the Federal government will start to pay attention.

Or y'know.. just get Elon to start naming and shaming them.. Stuff will snap around quick smart

It's not that the Australia government is strict, it's because they're lazy and greedy.

Thank you garylovesbeer, for interesting update on driving experience.
just wondering why a 10A outside power outlet, why not 15A or even 32A?? I've had 15A's installed athome and office, but i think i should have gone 32s.

Interesting you said that. In fact a tesla fan identifies with what you said so strongly he plans to do the test with an actual kid.

Yeah, this town is a little bizarre like that "...something new?! What? How dare you!" I love living here but the reluctance and backwardness is a little shocking at times.
Here's hoping they do but I think Wagga is too close to the Gundagai Super charger - the next obvious spot would be Narrandera and the Mildura for the Adelaide-Sydney trips.
The town so good they named it twice does indeed have a Supercharger planned for it (currently "Q1 2023" but Supercharger opening dates are rubberier than car delivery dates).

This is a public service announcement that there are other threads in this forum apart from the waiting room!

I had a pre-delivery Model 3 experience over the weekend, hired one for the day yesterday from a guy a couple of suburbs over from me in inner Melbourne.
  • Car matched the spec we have on order closely - Blue / RWD - only difference was it had white interior and we've ordered black
  • I'm glad we ordered black interior as there was some scuff / discolouration on the front seats - I suspect if you religiously clean them periodically that wouldn't build up, but I don't think I'm the kind of person who will clean that often, so I don't mind that it will be somewhat hidden by the darker material
  • The car was about a year old, and it showed some wear on the Alcantara phone resting space, and the corners in the steering wheel showed signs of "creasing" wear (if that's a thing?)
  • The owner had taken the aero wheel covers off because it looks better, and I'm on the fence with this. I'll probably take them off when I want the car to "look sporty" (Chap laps anyone?) and put them on for longer drives for the supposed efficiency gains - if I can be bothered - and depending how easy they are to remove, and how much wear taking them on or off causes
  • Throughout the day I travelled about 190kms all up, in different driving conditions around Melbourne metro
  • Monash - the new section with clear lane markings was a breeze with autopilot
  • Sections of road where lane markings are all over the place - I'm looking at you, City Road between South Melbourne and Port Melbourne - I didn't even bother trying Tesla vision
  • Some sections of the Eastern Fwy (both directions) have very poor road markings - made me a little tense with autopilot but no adverse issues
  • I don't trust Tesla lane keeping along Ferntree Gully Rd because of how uneven it is, and the road markings come and go, but I did have cruise control on
  • There was a moment on Ferntree Gully Rd around Scoresby when a car turning right from the opposite direction pulled out in to the oncoming lanes and just kind-of slowed down to almost a stop before getting out of the way. The offending car was black, and lighting was poor, but the Tesla dutifully slowed right down, quite suddenly. I was sort-of anticipating this happening and didn't worry too much because there weren't any other cars around me. But gosh some people are idiots. If it were me driving I probably wouldn't have slammed the brakes on as early as the Tesla did.
  • The owner was happy if I returned it with just 15%+ battery, but it gave me an opportunity to test my 32A single phase wall connector install again - two charges - one for 20 minutes from 91% -> 96%, and the other for 45 minutes from 41% -> 51%. And of course with the wall connector installed its such an easy step of picking up the cable off the connector, and plugging it straight into the car once you get out - this is a small convenience thing that I value in having the wall connector installed over the UMC
  • Some ICE cars tried to take me on at the lights but I won each time - not sure how hard they were trying, but I didn't feel like I was trying hard either (it isn't my car afterall)
  • We spotted a lot of Teslas (about 5 M3's and 1 MY) along the Eastern Fwy -> Alexandra Pde, including the Model 3 driver who I made eye contact with on the Fwy - we had a little "wave moment" before almost veering into each other :p
