AWD delivery thread

Well, it finally seems real. I have a VIN and delivery scheduled for 10/2. They actually said they just couldn’t move it forward to this week/weekend, because all time slots are already booked. I really respect that answer if true. Every customer deserves as much time as they can alot to do the delivery well.

You gotta appreciate that during quarter end push, they're not trying to force you in. I won't mind if we don't take delivery this weekend for that reason.

So no news from anyone who got the 2nd text?:
“Thank you for your quick response! We appreciate you confirming you are available. We will contact you shortly once we get a firm date from our logistics team.”?
No. And. I replied with a love letter last night but got nada.

I do have an assigned delivery person already (despite no VIN) who indicated she “or someone else” may be my next contact.

There is no change to my account either beside the usual website repaint/redesign changes tesla likes to surprise us with.

Sounds from this thread like if they have a match you get to the next step.
I assume folks who do not get that “third” reply are likely in the next tier if first backs out.

I received a different second text last night than everyone else. I did not answer 'yes' or 'no' to the initial, but with a couple sentence answer about what would have to happen to take delivery by Sunday (it's in a previous post).

Their answer "We appreciate the quick response! We ahve passed your request onto the Delivery Advisor assigned to your account. They will reach out directly to address your questions. In the meantime, are you able to take delivery by Sunday?"

Since the conditions for me to take delivery Sunday were open and process my trade and send me my mvpa to get to my bank for loan I responded: "Only if I can get trade in authorized tomorrow and the mvpa to get the loan tomorrow" which would now be today, Thursday.

There's no way they're going to be able to do this I suspect, and I have heard nothing further from them, or my DA that I apparently have (no contact at all from that person yet).

But at least this means hopefully early October is a possibility.

delivery appointment is in 29 hours and i have no vin or a specialist assigned to my account yet. normal?
Ha! Well, I guess that depends on what you consider "normal". There are many of us that have been relegated to status of "place holders" (not my term...theirs). Basically we are people that have a "delivery date" but no VIN. In my case, my delivery date has changed three times. I am pretty sure that this means that when a car that matches our specs shows up on the system they will start the process of moving it to your delivery center, unless they can sell it quicker and easier somewhere else. Some get a quick turn around...some don't. it really seems to be a crap shoot. I hope you have better luck than I have. No doubt this will all be a distant memory once we all have our cars.

I just got a new VIN via email at 6 hours to delivery and it doesn’t show up online.
Was called last night at 23 hours to delivery so I knew the change was happening and was waiting on VIN.

The paint is actually upgraded from the Solid Black I ordered but somehow that bumped my insurance premium up 20% !
Still excited, now I need to shop for better coverage when time to renew.

Any of you AWD owners care to share your experiences/comments about AWD compared to performance.
The "regular" AWD car has more than enough performance to keep us happy! That said, I would never say "no" if offered faster acceleration and even better handling. We just couldn't justify spending the additional bucks for the P model. If you have the money and it's what you want, then why compromise? It's only a matter of weeks.

My car hasn't found a carrier from the Cleveland delivery center to MI for home delivery. It has been paid for for 8 days... getting quite annoyed. Not that I have time, but they said they wouldn't let me go get it in person because I choose home delivery.

I agree with that. I don't have an Performance, wasn't worth the cost. Something to consider though, insurance companies will, rightfully, consider the PAWD a high performance car, ala Chevy 'vette in the 70s and 80s and charge accordingly. PLUS, they may be highly sought after targets for car thefts.

I ended up calling my local delivery center... talked to a person and they set up an appointment for Sunday at 12pm. They don't have the car yet and aren't necessarily sure there will be one. So I don't have a ton of confidence it's going to happen but definitely confident it'll be between now and mid-Oct.

My VIN disappeared too. It better mean nothing for me as they made me sign a loan on that VIN today so they could get a cashiers check this week. Fingers crossed it’s just a glitch.

At one point my VIN and MVPA disappeared for about 24 hours. And this was after I received and e-signed the MVPA and the 3rd party loan funded...which btw, was three days ago now and still doesn't show up on my Tesla account. Who knows why any of this happens? Tesla certainly doesn't! I'm scheduled for another delivery attempt tomorrow...not holding my breath.

As much as I feel the same way, I keep an eye on the VINS tab of the tracking sheet. It's been moving steadily this month and we're beyond the 50% mark and we're still in September. I imagine things will smooth out in October.

I ordered the same day as you, and I called last week to update my insurance since the expiration date on the page passed. In the pricess I asked if he could see my order status and he said "I have to be careful with what I say, and I can't give you exact details but that you're really close". He said I had an Owner Advisor assigned but not yet a delivery advisor. He wouldn't elaborate beyond that, but just said my time would be coming soon.

He could have been totally BSing me, but I didn't get that feeling.

I don't have VIN or MVPA for my Saturday delivery 09/29 at 2 PM. I guess I am their latest victim of placeholder. Has this placeholder thing worked for anyone? I mean someone who got VIN and car in the last 24-48 hours to the appointment in EAST COAST?

My Mom is waiting for an AWD 3 and got the texts yesterday. The initial and the followup. I'm headed back to NM in a week and really hope I can be in WA when she gets her car. I'm precisely equal parts frustrated and excited. It's awesome that she's finally getting her Tesla but it's ridiculous that things are this chaotic. Come'on Elon... you land rockets on barges... how can you not figure out logistics!!

Maybe trade some Space X secrets to Bezos for some AMZN secrets...
THERE'S the answer! Subcontract with Amazon for delivery. Done.

So to reply to you where you quoted me... I got the text that everyone got and have a delivery schedule for 9/30. No VIN or MVPA yet. So the guy I spoke with must have known I was at least close enough to be in the queue for the text. That said... I have less than a 50% confidence I'll get a car on the 30th.
