I called the 800 number (1-888-518-3752), and Tesla could not explain to me why others were getting their cars before me. Then, a light bulb went off as to why others may be getting my build before me even though I ordered before them. (I guess I'm kinda slow.) I'll do my best to explain my hypothesis. I'm not sure if I am correct, but If I'm wrong, please don't correct me. This reasoning that I've come up with in my little head is my only solace I have for this long wait...
For me, it boils down to location and the delivery bottleneck that is here in CA at the factory. I will use round numbers to explain.
For argument, lets say every delivery location can only put out 10 cars in a day. The number of orders to deliver here in CA far exceeds anywhere else. SO, if NY only has 20 of my make and model to deliver, but there are 100 to deliver here in CA, and I happen to be number 99, then those in NY will get their cars before me even if they ordered after me. It wouldn't make sense for Tesla to hold deliveries and try to get to my car just because I ordered before someone else. Right?
In order for Tesla to maximize deliveries, they will want to ship 10 to CA and 10 to NY so more cars get to their owners. The next day Tesla with send 10 again to CA and 10 More to NY. At this point, people in NY who ordered after me are probably getting their cars since I am number 99 in the list here in CA. The bottle neck here would only delay the deliveries they could make elsewhere. Make sense?
It wouldn't make sense for Tesla to hold deliveries since they couldn't get my car to me any any quicker.
I can live with this. I hope this made sense to others. I'm just sharing a thought since I didn't seen this logic in the forum yet. I'm sure someone else has probably already mentioned this idea, but this thread is HUGE! I couldn't possibly read the whole thing.
