Edit button gone today, called and verified vin has been assigned
Ontario, Canada
3/31, 2016 reservation
Last edit was Aug 19, 2018 for colour change

Car is coming direct from Fremont, possibly was from someone else cancelling (based on what support alluded to).

MSM, AWD, White Int., 19, FSD

Edit: non-owner, March 27 invite, first configure July 13

Can someone post a screen shot of the “Edit” button. I have not seen an “Edit” button ever.

I can get to the configuration via the posted url with RN number. And when it gets to last page it prompts for “update configuration”.

If I Go to the “model 3 order” page it remembers my last configuration and also ends in “update configuration”.

But I have never see an “edit” button.

I do see a “manage” button.

I also don’t see any way to change trade in or cash vs loan. I also have no trade. Perhaps that pops up if I hit the update button.

My order is cash and only configured it a week ago.

Worried my AWD won’t make the cut for this year. As I’m sure lots of folks are.

If you are paying cash you won't see an edit button. Did you pay your $2500? You'd have to post a screenshot to have a better idea of what you're running into.

All you should see when you click on "Manage" is "Next Steps" and "Order Summary".

Correct.

Yes, I paid the $2500.

It currently says Tesla is working on your contract....I have assumed it stays in that state until a VIN gets assigned?

This is my order too. I'm in Livermore. I drive by the Fremont Factory everyday and see truck loads of Teslas, mostly m3. I really thought my location would give me an advantage and I'd get mine sooner. This doesn't seem to be the case. I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm not bitter, I know I'll have mine soon enough. Just sharing why I'm siding with the magic 8 ball theory. Congrats to all you lucky people getting yours. :)

I called the 800 number (1-888-518-3752), and Tesla could not explain to me why others were getting their cars before me. Then, a light bulb went off as to why others may be getting my build before me even though I ordered before them. (I guess I'm kinda slow.) I'll do my best to explain my hypothesis. I'm not sure if I am correct, but If I'm wrong, please don't correct me. This reasoning that I've come up with in my little head is my only solace I have for this long wait... ;)

For me, it boils down to location and the delivery bottleneck that is here in CA at the factory. I will use round numbers to explain.

For argument, lets say every delivery location can only put out 10 cars in a day. The number of orders to deliver here in CA far exceeds anywhere else. SO, if NY only has 20 of my make and model to deliver, but there are 100 to deliver here in CA, and I happen to be number 99, then those in NY will get their cars before me even if they ordered after me. It wouldn't make sense for Tesla to hold deliveries and try to get to my car just because I ordered before someone else. Right?

In order for Tesla to maximize deliveries, they will want to ship 10 to CA and 10 to NY so more cars get to their owners. The next day Tesla with send 10 again to CA and 10 More to NY. At this point, people in NY who ordered after me are probably getting their cars since I am number 99 in the list here in CA. The bottle neck here would only delay the deliveries they could make elsewhere. Make sense?

It wouldn't make sense for Tesla to hold deliveries since they couldn't get my car to me any any quicker.

I can live with this. I hope this made sense to others. I'm just sharing a thought since I didn't seen this logic in the forum yet. I'm sure someone else has probably already mentioned this idea, but this thread is HUGE! I couldn't possibly read the whole thing.

While I think you're partially right, I think the real answer is that the process is a mess. I think there is an extent to which they are trying to honor reservation dates, and an extent to which they are trying to maximize deliveries within their existing delivery infrastructure, and an extent to which they're overwhelmed, can't keep track of their own production or inventory, and are just saying "**** it" and putting cars on trucks and figuring it out later.

I called Tesla to get an update since my backdoor edit URL stopped working on Friday. The rep said that the order has “moved to the next step” but wouldn’t confirm that a VIN was assigned because he wasn’t allowed to...but stated that I didn’t hear him say no. Still waiting to hear from a delivery specialist. Seems to confirm the suspicion that the backdoor link not working is a good thing!

I think this is right. I think Tesla is just shipping large volumes by train to regional depots and then matching them to orders and shipping them by truck the last leg to each SC. If you’re in a queue with a large number of orders (California) it will take longer than smaller markets.

Also Tesla is probably trying to deliver as many cars as possibly by Sept 30 including the high margin Performance variants. This will give them a shot at being profitable in Q3. Its no coincidence that they did an EAP trial and temporarily decreased the price of EAP after delivery to get more software upgrades and that the deadline is before Sept 30. That improves margins on cars already delivered.

If the theory of allotments is true.

Maybe from the spread sheet we can do the “card counting” trick and do the opposite of what folks have been thinking (picking combos that have shipped).

Instead maybe pick combinations that have not been delivered might be available to match your order.
Or you could just order the configuration you really want and wait...

Configuration: Late July when they opened it up to nearly everyone, changed to white interior when it became available in July
Silver, LR, AWD, White Interior, EAP, FSD

Was told I should be able to pick it up next week. My delivery date was saying Sept-Nov, so this is a bit earlier than I expected.
I am in LA.

Update: Delivered today (September 1st)! 18 inch aero wheels. Car seems to be in fantastic condition and is a TON of fun. Tesla had an employee drive it to my apartment, had me sign the paperwork then drove off with my trade-in. Probably took about 10 minutes total. Super efficient and a great experience. She said she's had a few morning deliveries where owners took delivery in their pajamas.

Congratulations, any paint issues that you have seen so far?
