Yup. Here is a shocker: Trumps worth actually went down after taking office. Don’t see that in the news, eh? However I do know of at least 2 presidents who walked out much wealthier after their 8 years... Hint: one made 35+ mil and the other 100+.

Interesting. Is there an auditable reference that would affirm that? Last I heard Trump wasn't releasing his financial information. Or did I miss something?

And this is what puzzles me. Where do these folk get their information from, like Trump is making money from being President? Somebody is brainwashing them bigtime.

Oh for the love of... If you're going to foolishly claim this President, and his family, aren't making BILLIONS from his election long term then I have ocean front property in Arizona to sell you...

How is it possible you people could even make such a factually devoid claim... Yeah, yeah, net worth, blah, blah, blah...

Just one of the many articles out there that explain how's he's getting richer... I haven't even gotten into the massive windfall from his GOP Tax scam bill...

Donald Trump Reports He’s Getting Rich Off the Presidency

Then there is this little pesky issue with the emoluments clause...

Meh... rules are for the little people that don't have the ability to pardon themselves in the way that Putin does... or Xi... or Kim... or any number of dictators out there.

This one is for all of my Canadian brethren...

I think for most of us it is sort of hard for us to wrap our minds around Trump but what I found in my 14 years in the US was that as a general rule Americans are very different than Canadians. That is not to say, that we (Canadians) all have the same beliefs or values (nor do all Americans) but in general, their politics lean well right of our politics.

I have long considered myself a (small p) progressive Conservative on the Canadian political spectrum. My classmates in NYC, pretty much thought I was a communist, because I believed in things like universal health care and that healthcare (not guns) should be a protected "right" under the Constitution. Yes, many Americans share these beliefs but 3/4 of my famiy are Americans (mother, wife, kids, in-laws, grand parents etc...) and I am perpetually amazed at how many of them continue to support Trump and some of the values he supports.

As I said earlier, his foreign and trade policy seems to be to treat your friends like enemies and your enemies like friends. I just don't get it and can't understand how is supporters get it as well.

Economist have a name for this..Escalation of commitment. So his supporters at this point are all in. Every bit of news that would change their minds has the opposite effect.

I agree that after decades of Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas, it’s hard to believe a president who is not in it for the money. Yes there are some in his inner circle who are, and it’s a shame, however I believe the POTUS himself is not.

Wow. So The Atlantic says the President is making millions by being President, which is far more than he made before being elected?

That's the title.

What's the substance?

This is very true and I see it in a few of my cousins in Michigan. One in particular seems to fit the bill of a Trump loyalist...

43 year old, high school dropout. Unemployed and on disability, yet there is no subject on the planet where he isn't an expert.

Let me guess you’ll call me a racist if I mention the % of black voters who checked Obama? The economic statistics are not impressive there either. Except Obama failed them miserably, while black unemployment is at an all time low right now under Trump.

The highly educated working class defenders of the poor say the President of the United States of America has a daughter who is a "feckless kunt" on a public broadcast.
Then the intellectual elite said that the President of the United States of America is running a child pornography ring.
Now the degree'd and pedigreed egalitarian elite say the President of the United States of America is a wife beater who put his wife in the hospital for 3 weeks with his fists?
And here we have another educated and brilliant defender of the downtrodden saying if you are poor and on disability you are basically human trash.

I blame the schools. I hope you can get your money back, you were ripped off.

EDIT - But I certainly would submit my resume to CNN. Big money to had. No CV necessary or desired.

Doesn't matter with Trumptards like yourself, I could throw you a thousand articles to prove my point and you'd throw them all out because they don't fit your narrative. When you refuse to open your eyes and accept basic facts, then there isn't anything I can do.

You're going to focus on net worth because it's literally the ONLY argument you have here and you're going to totally disregard any other metric/fact/proof/anything that doesn't talk specifically about net worth. It's the typical Trumptard response to literally everything he does...

Then you go on to post and whine about Samantha Bee proving once again Trumptards, really conservatives in general, can't tell the difference between racist speech and "mean" speech. You draw a million false equivalencies to justify your own ignorance. Yet you still can't tell the difference between being mean and being racist...

If you can't tell the difference between being racist and being mean than you're probably a racist. Own it.

You are certifiably insane if you actually think POTUS isn't in this for the money... HE DIDN'T EVEN EXPECT TO WIN... He was doing this entirely to generate more wealth and won by accident...

Man oh man, when Trump said he loves the poorly educated he wasn't kidding... Wow...

Jeff

Ah a elite hater...dont trust the elites...no ..unless its YOUR health or say your car or equipment that needs fixed then trust the elites.

Here's the God's honest truth. Smart folk don't assume everyone else is stupid.

Quite the opposite. As time goes on, you realize how little you really know, which makes it hard to judge others.

I knew everything at 18. Now I'm dumber.

But folk who use the C word in public to talk about folk's kids? Not as bright as they think they are.
People who falsely testify others are child molesters to score street cred? Basically monsters.
People who falsely testify others are women beaters? Ditto.
People who look down on the under-educated, disabled, and poor? Elitist snobs.

Now if you believe you are truly a 'liberal' and those points don't sting and make you embarrassed to be an American, I don't know.

Perhaps you already know everything. Congrats!@
