Beginnings of a trade war between Canada and the USA. Affects on Tesla?

Americans/Trump never said Canada/Mexico were security threats. What was said is that the lack of aluminum/steel production capability in the US is a security threat. Therefore taxes on imported materials have been implemented in an effort to reinstate local production.

Only that's a fools errand and no matter what President BrianDead does, none of those things are coming back...

Trumps is president like it or hate it. Hes one hell of a business man I will admit that. You cant run a country like a business though.

Now let's just unplug the power cable keeping New York alive and other city's south of the border and make up our own demands..... that'll do the trick.....

LOL... I suppose pointing out you support a serial adulterer, serial rapist, and a generally disgusting human being as POTUS won't move your morality needle much, if at all? LOL...

Things could be a lot different.

We could be watching C-17s filled with flag draped coffins landing each night on the news from Ms. Clinton's war in Libya. And whatever other countries she would have destroyed.

It seems to me that killing our soldiers in the name the Clinton/Obama legacy so they don't lose face is worse than any of the tabloid stories that permeate our media now.

And our workers would be worse off than ever before while all Ms. Clinton's Wall Street donors got rich off foreign investments.

I'm a liberal in the ways that actually matter. I didn't vote for Ms. Clinton because she is nothing more than another permanent bureaucrat building wealth by selling out her neighbors.

Would Ms. Clinton have done anything about the US aluminum industry? Absolutely. Whatever JP Morgan Chase and Buffett and the Koch Brothers told her too. Which would normally be to get rid of US jobs and ship them overseas.

Ms. Clinton would have had a palace in Beijing by now. And be a billionaire in her own right. Remember, she was caught committing security fraud and insider trading. Neither her husband nor she herself went to jail, but those who helped them did. Executive Privilege. 15 of their close friends were not as lucky

Ms. Clinton is about as liberal as John Rockefeller. She in it for the money and nothing else. Sanders was liberal. She cheated to keep him off the ballot. Remember that.

You are certifiably insane if you actually think POTUS isn't in this for the money... HE DIDN'T EVEN EXPECT TO WIN... He was doing this entirely to generate more wealth and won by accident...

Man oh man, when Trump said he loves the poorly educated he wasn't kidding... Wow...

Jeff

Ah. Rabid name calling response. Typical. Man, that CNN kool aid is really sprouting some fruits in you. May I suggest some news blackout for a while, it’ll be good for you. Some pointers:
-Had a pretty comfortable life yet chose to run for the most stressful job (not to mention the meat grinder campaigns).
-Hes not a young chicken, can’t use up or take that money into the grave.
-Loves America and always has (look up old vids and articles of him)
-While under constant bombardment of fake news and 95% negative coverage, still maintains credible support.

I’m guessing my post(s) will end up in Snipiness anyway, so no point in arguing longer.

So with the American people declaring Canada a security risk, imposing tariffs and basically labelling Canada an enemy of the USA will possible eventual tarrifs effect Tesla’s export numbers. Although I think Europe and Mexico were also declared security risks the end of an alliance that has flourished since the First World War will definetly affect buying habits of Canadians. It’s only been a day and already there are social media groups with lists of products that are built in the USA and alternatives that are either Canadian made or European or Mexican or China or Russia or anywhere in the world as long as it doesn’t come from the USA. If it grows into a full grown trade war how vulnerable is Tesla.

Unfortunately for us both vehicles we were considering for our leaf replacement in two years are US made. (Tesla and Leaf). Hopefully BMW will have something interesting by then.

Served along side Americans for most of our military career. Surprised as hell that the American people now look at us as security risks and enemies. The world is changing.
Not the American people...just our Chief Idiot. Most of us are very fond of our Northern and Southern neighbors...and our friends across both ponds.

Let me guess you’ll call me a racist if I mention the % of black voters who checked Obama? The economic statistics are not impressive there either. Except Obama failed them miserably, while black unemployment is at an all time low right now under Trump.
Nope, I’d only call you a racist if you’re a racist, although I don’t recall ever writing anything about race. Did I miss something?

I don’t know why Americans aren’t freaking out that their president is trying to run the country by himself like bloody Gaddafi or something.
Leaning on the justice department, pardoning political allies, making unilateral trade decisions, putting family in government. Someone’s gotta get that joker back in line or the whole thing’s gonna unravel.
Some of us are freaking. As a break from freaking I’m sometimes laughing. Trump donated somewhere between $100,001 - $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Ivanka was a lesser donor. Go to the Clinton Foundation website. There’s about 9 pages of donors in that range. He’s on page 7 or 8. You can’t make this stuff up.

The highly educated working class defenders of the poor say the President of the United States of America has a daughter who is a "feckless kunt" on a public broadcast.
Then the intellectual elite said that the President of the United States of America is running a child pornography ring.
Now the degree'd and pedigreed egalitarian elite say the President of the United States of America is a wife beater who put his wife in the hospital for 3 weeks with his fists?
And here we have another educated and brilliant defender of the downtrodden saying if you are poor and on disability you are basically human trash.

I blame the schools. I hope you can get your money back, you were ripped off.

EDIT - But I certainly would submit my resume to CNN. Big money to had. No CV necessary or desired.

The good old ad hominem. Don’t sweat it, you are not interesting enough for me to engage.

As for the 43 year old...he’s neither poor nor downtrodden. He’s obese, he lives in a home fully paid for by his parents (5 doors down from them), his 68 year old mom cuts his lawn, does his laundry and makes all of his non-fast food meals...and yes he is an expert on everything (sort of like you), only he really knows nothing.

Did I hit a nerve?:D

My brother is dead from a misdiagnosis, but thanks for asking! Chest pain after trauma, sent home, ruptured aorta, deceased at age 55.
I got him his job at Rockwell, which became Boeing. He was good with computers (back before the Apple II), but without a degree, no love. I had connections and got him hooked up. When they shut down my facility, he went to Seattle, I went to bigger things. Understand that less than 1/2 the hackers back then had degrees. And no, hacker was a compliment and had nothing to do with breaking into systems.

But your description of your brother is not uncommon when it comes to how the pseudo-elite think of all people. I picture the goal of every pseudo-liberal to someday be Donald Sutherland in the Hunger Games.

At least you're in good company. ;)

You must be seeing a different guy than the one that I see every day (far too much). The one that I see is a sociopathic egomaniac that will say pretty much anything to boost his "ratings".

Bear in mind... I was actually fairly positive on the guy during primaries. I was convinced that he was putting on a show to get votes - that he couldn't possibly be that stupid, and that behind that facade was a deep thinking strategist that was going to turn around after the election and govern both well and responsibly.

And well... I'm going to take my kicks for being wildly wrong on that account.

I have no idea if the private citizen Trump had an affair with a blackmailing prostitute and pornographic industry worker. And neither do you. Oddly, there is no proof at all. A good blackmailer would have recorded at least audio if it was planned to occur. It would seem to be a strange situation. Trump doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs, look it up. So his first pick in sex partners would be somebody who has a high chance of having a potential lethal venereal disease? Perhaps. But celebrities in all aspects of the entertainment industry have paid off accusers so they don't cause unfounded tabloid stories. Businesses call those nuisance lawsuits. They are often paid because it's cheaper in the long run due to publicity. She signed a document that says the sex never happened, and she would not accuse him again, but when he ran for President suddenly she thought she should get more money.

It could be true. Does it make sense? The timing, the people, the documentation?

Everybody should experience at least one time of being accused falsely of a sex crime.

Mine occurred when I gained sole custody during a divorce. You will experience embarrassment like you've felt before. But when presented with the facts, the time, the evidence, interviews, drug test failures, and the personalities, the school took her off the 'pick-up' list, the restraining order was stiffened, and the PD never even interviewed me, only her.

It's a great weapon today, and a very popular one, but it's not new. Blackmail has been around forever, as have false accusations to gain a financial or other benefit.

What is interesting is that Trump has not answered any of the hooker, pedophilia, daughter's a C, rape, etc, etc, etc, accusations, but he has challenged a few other accusations made by members of the mainstream press that affected America's interests abroad.

Perhaps they are all true? Perhaps he refuses to negotiate with small-time political terrorists while in office. We will probably never know since the accusation was all that was required to inflict damage.

Really? You figure that he didn't have relations with Stormy? Really? Wow. It also doesn't offend me; it doesn't even make the list of things that bother me about Trump. I couldn't care less if he likes to engage with pumpkins. And the list of philandering past presidents is pretty long.

I will bet dimes to dollars that Putin's got video of him having a pee party with two Russian Hookers.

I have no idea. It could go either way. Why the blackmail if it was consensual sex? Why would a blackmailer not save some 'dirt'? If there was dirt, why does her lawyer, who bilked friends out of $10 million dollars or more and now needs money, sell the dirt to the highest bidder? It's worth millions perhaps.

We had a Supreme Court nominee accused of sexual impropriety. Congress did not believe her. There are others as well, and they are split both ways. False claims of sexual abuse are not uncommon. True claims are more common, except when it comes to divorce and perhaps politics.

If somebody is into hookers, there are probably 100's if not thousands of witnesses and lots of tapes. 1 hooker a month for 50 years is 600 incidences. And yes, the SVR records pretty much everything possible, especially with foreign heads of state where possible.
