Don’t get hung up on the VIN. Mine was 68k number and it was manufactured in August of 2018. My delivery was at the service center so I don’t know if the 2 day is on paper so I would just ask them for it. When you send your paperwork to Raleigh (they will send it to you a few days before delivery for you to fill out and FedEx using the overnight label they send you). You can include a bank check with your paperwork if you are not doing it online through your Tesla account. I did mine online as a bank transfer.

Thanks for your response. Found the documentation of the 2 day period (was in email from Tesla for eliminating paint options, thanks Knightshade). My IDA got back to me and CU overnighting check was no problem. In my case, check goes straight to my IDA in vegas. I paid for balance via electronic bank transfer. I do feel bad for these IDAs. Mine has been very friendly and you can tell he is trying is best but it sounds like they are overwhelmed right now.

So here’s an update. Was called last Thursday that my scheduled Sept 14 P3D delivery was postponed due to the hurricane, (no damage there of course) and that I’d be getting rescheduled for this week, likely home delivery.

Well, it’s a week later and I’ve emailed my Delivery Specialist but no response, tried calling but get voicemail ‘mailbox full’.

Just checked my Tesla Account - before it said delivery date Sept 14. Now it says ‘by the end of September’.

Really? I’ve already paid for the car. I’m a big fan of Elon but this is just plain unacceptable.

Here's my update-it's another "wow these people are useless" update.

(before that though- a thank you to Randy7fx for offering to see if my car was in Charlotte tomorrow- but per below doesn't seem like it'd be relevant anymore...anyway...)

So when I checked my tesla account today I noticed that 9/23 delivery in Charlotte was now a 9/22 delivery in Charlotte.

Still hadn't heard from my IDA since Wednesday when I had no date and was told "home delivery only in NC" so I sent him a third email asking WTF was up (but politely)

My IDA is back in the office today apparently- and tells me

IDA said:
That’s just the calendar I have to put it on in order to get the vehicle out to you. They’re arranging the cars into loads based on Zip Codes they’re going out to. Someone will let you know before the car goes out.

Which reads to me like "I know I told you please trade in your current car by today, but I've no idea when you'll get anything from us to drive, and have fun making payments on the car you don't have yet"

Saves me a trip to Charlotte I guess.

In related "Does anyone at Tesla actually do anything" news- my account does not show FSD being added, despite the delivery dude in Raleigh promising me yesterday morning he was going to add it and I'd see an updated MVPA later in the day to sign.

I was scheduled for home delivery tomorrow - paid in full yesterday sent all the paperwork the day before that. I assumed the car was at the Charlotte SC this week hence the need to get paperwork completed. Account still shows pickup from Charlotte on 22nd at 10:30 AM... I thought I better check that the paperwork is acceptable and that we were still on for tomorrow..

It’s a good job I did as the IDA just told me the car is ‘delayed in transit’ and won’t be here till 30th.... To learn this less than 24 hours before ‘delivery’ is very frustrating.- I’m thinking they knew this but wanted me to transfer the money now rather than later......

I had the same thing 9/22 at 10:30 I was ready to transfer my money but called them first and got a delayed delivery now on the 30th.
No communication from them glad I called.

I, and a few others, tend to go by the Charlotte SC frequently. For those who are wondering if their car is there, post your VIN and vehicle details (exterior/interior colors and wheels as those three are the easiest combinations to spot). I can check the next time I am there (Either tomorrow or Sunday). Cant promise I will find it as they often store cars in a back/gated section, but if it is on the lot I will find it.

I'm supposed to have home delivery next week. Was originally scheduled for pick-up at Charlotte tomorrow. Would love to know if my car is actually there:

VIN: 5YJ3E1EB5JF097553
Red, AWD, White Interior, Sport Wheels

I was there a hour ago today - they were ridiculously swamped!!! Holding 300
Cars , and two more truck loads coming today - there wasn’t any customer parking nor did they want me out there looking g for my car - the Manager told me basically if the cars is there, Elon told them he wants you to pick up there, and now !! They only have 3 delivery guys , and logistics as we know is slooow - they are trying all different methods of delivery - Tesla local , and corporate said I have no vin assigned even tho it says late September delivery but “it may happen soon if it has that estimate as those have been accurate” lol - A ton of Red, Midnight Silver metallic’s, a few Black, and White speckled in- really exciting and overwhelming just to see the volume increase for this quarter delivery , and I can’t see it slowing down for 4th quarter or anytime soon. That’s my 2 cents...

You seem surprised... At least you did not have to pay before the car could even leave California like the Texas folks.

Here's a fun update... my IDA has been telling me for a week or so all NC deliveries are home delivery now.

But my Tesla account says I have a delivery date Sunday Sept 23 in Charlotte. (which is a 3 hour drive)

My IDA is out of office per his email (I emailed him yesterday to see if he could clear this up).

I called the listed # for Charlotte and I think the VRU dumped me into the generic 800 # for tesla- not positive on that but sure felt like a generic phone support line not a local place.

She said it "looked" like that delivery date was right, then asked me to wait while she reached out to my IDA, whom of course she then couldn't reach.

When I asked if she can at least confirm the car is IN Charlotte right now she said "It's on its way TO the service center in Charlotte"

Which would be true regardless of if I was getting home delivery or picking it up from there. So no real help.

Anybody know a way to insure I can reach someone actually AT the Charlotte location with the VRU options? It'd really suck to drive 3 hours and then get blank stares from folks not expecting me.

I’m in the same boat. As of yesterday my delivery date was rescheduled to ‘by the end of September’. But today it says Sept 23 at 1:30PM. Still no call or email from my delivery specialist. Not sure if I should show up or if this is a placeholder for home delivery (I live 45 min away).

Ok, this is getting interesting. I just called the Charlotte location and picked a new voicemail option for "New Vehicle Deliveries" and got routed to a rep in Raleigh. And yes, I'm getting home delivery tomorrow. The 1:30P time is just a placeholder - the delivery person is supposed to contact me (text?) when they're on the way.

Interesting tidbit - the Tesla rep said if I'm not at home, they will drop off the car anyway, lock the key card inside, then I'd have to call Tesla when I got home to have it unlocked remotely. I've already paid for the car and all paperwork has already been sent to Raleigh but that sounds a little risky. Luckily I'm planning to be home anyway.

So what happens as far as going over the car for issues and reporting them? What if there are so many issues you don't want it? As i understand it nobody from tesla actually comes out for the home delivery it's a 3rd party.

They are giving buyers who get home delivery 48 hours to inspect and then either accept or reject the car. But do not wait 48 hours to notify Tesla of issues. I suggest doing so first thing Monday if they are not open tomorrow.

Heh- for me my delivery date has changed from today in charlotte at 4pm (which is obviously gone and the IDA said was "just so we can get you on the home delivery schedule) to....

Estimated delivery
Sept.'18 - Nov.'18

Like it had been before I ever heard from an IDA.

WTH?

I had a pickup for 9/22 which was cancelled . Received all of my paperwork yesterday with a delivery date of late September now this morning it says I pickup in Charlotte on October 6th at 10:30. Back to pickups? They ask for all of my paperwork and to transfer the money. It bothers me to send the money that far ahead.

Wow this is frustrating. Tesla rep yesterday told me I was to get home delivery today. Tesla Account showed delivery today at 1:30P. Well, no call, no text, no email. I called Tesla Charlotte and was sent to voicemail, no return call. Pulled up my Tesla account again. Guess what - it just changed back to “Estimated delivery by late September”. Really? I stayed home instead of going to the Panthers game today so I could take home delivery. So frustrating. Beginning to run out of patience...
