Of course it is.

But ASAP seems to be a reoccurring and relevant theme in this thread. So tell me, in nwdivers analogy, how would the decision be made to send the helicopter or the ambulance?
The analogy is irrelevant because:
- There is no insurance.
No one can bail us out of this once the planet is toast.
- You assume limited resources... wrong assumption.
The reality is that we have unlimited human and financial resources. The problem is that the financial resources are mostly employed destroying the environment through unproductive and mostly environmentally damaging activities.
It will take a lot of political will (which is usually lacking) to capture those resources and direct them towards building a resilient, renewable infrastructure. The people who own those resources (and control government) will whine that taking their money out of fossil fuels and destructive activities will collapse society. It's really better to look at it as taking those resources and redirecting them to resilient, renewable infrastructure will save society.

Trees in the Amazon are the world's sweat glands – and 10 other essential climate facts | Ariel Conn

Ten things about the climate:
1. Zoning laws save lives
2. Cement is killing the planet
3. We need more Mangroves
4. Healthy oceans absorb carbon
5. Forget geoengineering - we have forests
6. The Amazon trees are the worlds "sweat glands"
7. Tipping point for the climate could stimulate the needed social and political change
8. Concensus on climate is crucial
9. Talking about climate change is powerful
10. Switch you bank!

Perhaps the most important thing to know about the climate crisis is that solutions exist. It is political will we lack. Many people worry about convincing climate deniers that climate breakdown is real, but deniers make up a very small percentage of the population. Our real focus should be on convincing those in power that the majority of us want to see strong political action. That happens when we talk to each other, when we talk to our representatives, and when we talk to our financial institutions. Individual climate action is critical, but this is ultimately a societal problem, and the solution must be societal as well.

Cryptocurrency mining harms human health - Anthropocene

In fact, cryptocurrency mining in China takes a heavy toll in premature mortality. Every 50,000 Bitcoins mined in China are associated with 12 additional deaths due to particulate matter exposure, the researchers calculated.

Over time, the amount of electricity required to produce cryptocurrency coins has increased and the value of those coins has fluctuated. This means that mostly, the net benefit of cryptocurrencies to society has been eroding. In December 2018, damages from Bitcoin mining in the United States amounted to $0.95 for every $1 value of the coins.

It’s well known that, because of the ever-increasing effort required to mine coins, at some point a given cryptocurrency will no longer be profitable to mine. The researchers argue that it’s likely that the cryptocurrency’s social costs will outstrip its value well before that point of unprofitability.

Meanwhile in Ontario Canada which has one of the cleanest grids (if you think Nukes are green of course).

The Conservative Government spent $300M + to cancel wind and renewable energy projects mid way in development/deployment, including ripping working turbines off their mounts.

This is AFTER they promised to lower power prices during an election, but ended up raising them instead with this stunt.

Climate emergency: world 'may have crossed tipping points’

Climate emergency: world 'may have crossed tipping points’

The world may already have crossed a series of climate tipping points, according to a stark warning from scientists. This risk is “an existential threat to civilisation”, they say, meaning “we are in a state of planetary emergency”.

A saving grace is that the rate at which damage accumulates from tipping could still be under our control to some extent,” they write. “The stability and resilience of our planet is in peril. International action – not just words – must reflect this.”

I'd quibble with the term "megastar." The only reason why I've heard of him is because of his anti-Tesla antics.

He is an entertainer, kind of a like a comedian. BBC has openly admitted that Top Gear was purely an entertainment show in their defense of running by a pre-written script that dictated the roadster to "run out of juice" during the test. His show never had anything to do with spreading information, just entertainment.

Ergo, the world should give no more attention to his opinions than that of Bozo the Clown!

I think Bozo the Clown has more credibility.

Unfortunately, with the strange sinkholes (methane burp holes?) being discovered in Siberia, we may have already crossed the tipping point.:(:(:(
