So you didn't deal with Tesla at all to get the refund?

While I agree with you that you should get your money back if they are not delivering your car to your satisfaction, before you call your credit card company, please contact Tesla and ask for your money back. You should extend this courtesy to any merchant you do business with and calling the credit card company should be an option of last resort of the merchant is not helping with a reasonable resolution.

Tesla does say the deposit is nonrefundable so if you call your credit card company, they may try to hold you to that. It is far better to try and reach a resolution contacting Tesla directly.

I believe so far we have yet to hear from anyone who was unable to get their deposit back when Tesla did not deliver a car to their satisfaction. You may get push back but if you insist, I bet they will give your deposit back.

Always try being nice first when seeking a resolution... :D

Sounds good, I want to deal with them first.

Robert, sucks to hear they cancelled again. Hopefully when you finally get the car these issues will fade away. The air suspension worried me with issues people have reported, that’s why I chose one without active air suspension.
Now I wish I had gone without. When I test drove a Model S at the store here in NY, it had air suspension. I really liked it, but like you said, it needs to be problem free.

oh my god! that is horrible! i seriously hope they don't do that to me. I will be coming from Long Island to get the car in Mt. Kisco.

by the way my name is Nick.
Nick, call them the day before and the day of and ask these things. Ask for Alyssa and say Rob Manning, Jr. said you should speak to her. She should be helpful:

1) What is the mileage?
2) Has the car been through the 70 point Tesla mechanical inspection?
3) Has the car passed the New York State Inspection?

Ask these questions the day before and the day of delivery.

Good luck man. I wish you the best.

While I agree the process has a lot to be desired, the end product of getting the car and driving it is nothing short of amazing.

The driving experience will be just as amazing for all the other premium EVs that Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar and others are developing and coming out over the next year or two.

Let's hope Tesla won't continue to harm their reputations treating customers poorly. They just need to match the level of care and service offered by a used car dealer so hopefully that won't be that hard for them to rise up to the level of a used car dealer...:rolleyes:

I'm not surprised. My car was supposedly off lease in May and I bought it at the end of November. It's been almost a month and no title, just excuses about why they don't have the title. This is something they seem to be notorious about - they can't get the titles straightened out. Seems like most people wait months for their titles. It's very annoying. Some have theorized that they play games with the titles for accounting purposes.

More likely they're just incompetent. They don't seem to know the registration, title, or insurance rules for any of the states they operate in except possibly California. Just incompetent.

I'll chime in here a bit on my buying experience.

I'll skim over most of it, as it can be summed up with "lack of communication" from my Tesla reps. E-mail? No response for multiple days. Call? No answer, no ability to leave a voicemail.

They messed up my trade in for ~8 days, up until the day before I was trading my vehicle in.
They messed up my MVPA up until the actual day I was going to pick it up.

I received a phone call on my way from Pensacola, FL to San Francisco, CA that they would not be able to release the car to me because of a miscommunication between Tesla and my financing company. The two companies had spoken multiple times, and had e-mail correspondence. Tesla just randomly decided they didn't want to work with my finance company about 2 hours before I touched down in CA.

The ONLY reason I was able to get my car when I got to the delivery location was because the sales rep that did my paperwork didn't know what he was doing and released the car to me.

I'm now fighting with Tesla to make sure I get my registration and that they have properly recorded the lien in a timely manner.

Update on my order. My car has now been at the pickup location since last friday. Everyday when i text my delivery specialist(this is the only way she answers in a somewhat timely manner). Her update to me is she is still trying to confirm that the title is with the car. Isnt this a 2 min phone call to find this out? I just dont understand.
PS- still dont know!

Same here, no communication for days to find out from my local service center that the car is actually here.

Gadgetfreak, congrats. I took delivery from
Orlando and they were quick with everything. I had the door ding that wasn’t photographed but other than that the car was in great condition.
Joels1017, How long from the date you paid the deposit and uploaded all your files, until the date you actually picked up your car? Also, did they have the title on hand? Are you still waiting for the title?
The carfax shows the car I'm getting was owned in Florida before and since I will own it in Florida, I'm hoping it won't take long to get the title and registration and tags. I've been reading about some people waiting 2-6 months for proper tags.

The title doesn't need to be with the car. They can request the title from the DMV. Unbelievable.

Texted my “delivery specialist” twice today with no response. Therefore another day gone with no clue whats going on. Just sitting, waiting.
We are in the same boat except I'm on vacation and now can't pick up the car. If I was home I would be going ballistic. I don't know if you drink, but if we ever end up getting these cars before we are fed up and request our money back, we should grab a beer. I got a text today from Tesla service center and this is what it said. I didn't know anything about them ordering a part to fix the car!!!! I emailed the delivery specialist, the CPO specialist and no response (normal). Again, only one person is responding to me, and she has nothing to do with this problem.

I'm currently making a YouTube video about my experience so more people can decide how to navigate this mess. I'll post the link when I'm done.
