I got a vin and heard nothing from anyone for a week. I reach out to my SA and got generic reply number 3 that he could chose from to send back. Last night I finally got my please make your final payment and once I completed that there was already a pick up day and time set for me.
There is NO WAY I would make a final payment until the day of delivery or at delivery. I made my payment morning of delivery of inventory car. An hour later, they cancelled delivery entirely. I spent three weeks getting them to refund my money. There is no need or requirement to pay fully before delivery (except maybe in a few states).

Tesla will try to bully you into it. Do not let them.

Just an update: my delivery date has moved forward by a week. Hopefully it keeps doing that.

MYLR 5 seater ordered 4/12 white/white, geminis, tow, no FSD. Tysons Corner, VA pickup.

I guess we need a Phd to figure out how the Tesla reservation system works, and what logic does it follow.

just by being here for a month, I have seen several identical configurations that were ordered in mid to late May, and received VINs and scheduled delivery prior to some March/April orders.

just want to share my experience with Tesla. I ordered the Model Y on 5/6. I got a VIN assigned to me on 5/28. My schedule delivery was today June 6th, 2021. After placing the order, it was very frustrating. The customer support is non-existent. I tried to get in touch with my delivery center in mount kisco NY. They always seemed to be to busy. I did talk to a few people there but it's not like your typical dealership. They really don't do a good job explaining the process. A week before delivery, I wanted to know what my final payment would be without a trade in. My current order had the trade in. I sent an email to my assigned SA and another advisor. My assigned SA never got back to me. He claimed he was to busy. In all the years working at Tesla, he has never been this busy. I don't believe him for a minute. The other advisor gave me the wrong numbers. On Friday, two days ago I told them I really need to know the final payment with out the trade in. They never gave it to me. The only way I found out was after I asked them to remove my trade in. I removed the trade in because I got a better offer via CarMax. Tesla offered me $6900, while CarMax offered $8400. I went to the bank on Saturday to get the cashier's check. On Sunday, I was preparing to go pick up the car. I look at my account. I see that the final payment is different than the cashier check by $60. The loan showed it was $100 more. If I was able to talk with an actual person about the discrepancy I would have been ok. This just added to my frustrations. The lack of customer service was the deal breaker. I canceled my order three hours before pick up. I feel that the customer service will be just as bad at the service center. This is unacceptable to me. I will put my hard earned money elsewhere. Tesla has great cars but the lack of customer service will hurt them at some point. Right now they have high demand. When more competition enters the EV market, the lack of process and customer service will hurt Tesla.

The only thing that seems to make sense is they make certain configs in batches, and delivery location is the first qualifier for delivery. After that, it matches to those [mostly in order] who have a completed profile.

Ordered 5/7, got MYLR, silver, induction wheels, 5 seats, standard interior, and FSD. Got a VIN on 5/28 with a promising EDD. On Friday I got a text to schedule delivery so now I'm going to pick up the car this week. Do you guys suggest paying online prior to delivery or bringing a cashier's check?
Not sure how it is in your delivery center. But my delivery center I brought a cashier's check and no problem at all. They even let me inspect inside and would let me drive it to the charging station to test charging if I want to because I asked and they gave me the card key all without doing any paperwork or paying anything upfront. The only thing they did was to check my ID when I arrived. But from what I'm reading here though, it's delivery center dependent. Some are nicer than the other, just like their service center.

I don't think it works that way. I ordered online and didn't see a place to put the referral code. So I called and they said I would need to cancel my order and reorder using the link with the code.
That’s not true. I ordered and then called the Delivery Experience Manager and he was able to take my existing referral code (I already own a Tesla) and apply it to my order. The amount of lazy misinformation coming from Tesla “representatives” is a shame. I feel like I want to start a Tesla buyer consulting business.

Yep it’s frustrating. I’ve seen those as well and reached out to my SA regarding it. I even asked if there was something I hadn’t done that would cause me to be skipped.

He basically said he has no update and that VINs are being assigned to people and he would keep an eye out for my order. Whatever that means.

Which Delivery Center did you pickup from? (also, congratulations!)

Awesome, congrats! Did you pick up at the Roswell-Alpharetta location? If so, any feedback or tips on how the process went.
Went smooth. I never set foot in the building. Just called to let them know I was there. They text you when car is ready and tell you number that will be hanging from rearview mirror. Just walk up to vehicl and everything will be in it. They also color highlight the forms so you know when needs to sign and where. Silvery specialist will come out and check in on you a few times and ask any questions. So not 100% touch less but really good experience.

I made mine online but I think anyone that can not afford to have their down payment funds being held by Tesla should do cashier’s check.
