Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Expecting delivery of new model Y later this month (it better be HW4!!!) -- no VIN yet, but delivery estimate of June 14-28. Has anyone seen something like a checklist of items we should look over when we take delivery? I've seen the reports of various items like door opening/closing issues, gaps between panels, etc. but not sure I know all the major things I should look over.

I'm mostly indifferent towards HW4. Anything new introduces risk and unknowns and we know what to expect with HW3. Also, any additional capability of HW4 is unlikely to be fully utilized for quite some time. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of 2016-2023 Tesla models on the road running HW3 including some that are still being sold today. During an earnings call earlier this year, Musk remarked that HW3 could be 2-3 times safer than a human while HW4 could be 5-6 times safer. Twice as safe as a human or even as safe is still very impressive to me and HW3's capabilities haven't been fully utilized yet. I'd take HW4 over HW3 if it was an easy choice, but I wouldn't worry about getting HW3. I knew HW4 was around the corner when I took delivery of my vehicle, but didn't let it give me pause because I know that even HW3 will continue to improve through software for years to come.

My iPhone is four hardware versions behind, yet it continues to get new features, capability, speed, and stability over time through software updates and is still far faster and more capable than it needs to be. I've tried to justify upgrading to an new iPhone, but there's no perceivable difference between my old iPhone and a new iPhone for the things I use it for every day and the battery has only degraded 13% over the last half-decade.

There is one compelling reason I'd like HW4 and that's for the improved resolution and color of the new cameras, but even HW3's cameras are more than adequate to provide evidence in the event of a collision, for example.

And, let's be honest, even HW4 may never be capable of fully autonomous driving as safely and smoothly as a human - that might not happen until HW5 or HW6 if it happens at all in our lifetimes. :)

The simple fact that Tesla isn't offering an upgrade from HW3 to HW4 the way they did from HW2/HW2.5 to HW3 suggests that they believe that HW4 simply isn't necessary for full self-driving to be safer than a human.

Totally Agree

...Otherwise, no issues at all. We taking this trip to get use to using superchargers before a big trip to NC, however, with the hotel ("free") charging we didn't need to visit any other type of charger...
Been using Free Juice for a while and I almost forget the cost associated with "Gas-Up" for the trip.
Most Marriot and Hilton Branded lodging are equipt with Tesla "Destination Charger" because for years, having those amenities would attract the "right" clients with the desirable demographics.

Nowadays, Lodgings without EV chargers are less desirable for road travelers and business would be negatively impacted.

beewang

I had white seats and delivery was delayed. It took more than 3 months to get the car. Keep in mind that Canadians can't add white interior anymore. Not sure it will affect the US.
Here is my solution to that problem! 🙃

Welp, I did it. I (like a silly goose) curb rashed one of my rims.

And it was for a crap charger too (coincidental, stay FAR AWAY from the OpConnect chargers; the one I was at was slower than molasses and more expensive than most Chargepoint locations. PLUS, their app is HORRIBLE. Not bad, HORRIBLE.)
Sorry to hear that. What are you going to do? Get it fixed? I used this site twice. Wheel Repair Services Covering North America | Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists Probably a different guy since you are in North Jersey but he came right to my house and was done in like 30 minutes. It was like $150.

Then go out and buy the wheel covers that cover the entire rim. :)

For now, nothing. It's not too bad.

I'm thinking longer term about getting the covers that go between the rim and the tire.

I've noticed a few of these showing up lately. A set in Ridgewood, and the old Chargepoint units in fair Lawn Promenade appear to have been replaced by OpConnect units at .32/kWh for Level 2. Plugshare reviews are negative.

Yeah. They're REALLY bad.

I emailed them and asked to close my account / get a refund. They did.

I now filter them out on Plugshare.

Got my MYLR last week on 6/13 everything went smooth, I got there a bit early found it by VIN (as they had not yet put the "congratulations" card on the dash), was almost tempted to refuse it as there were too many Freemont build there with HW4 and the new headlights (I forget what they are called).

I already have 1100 miles on, have yet to use a supercharger (I have a level 2 charger at work, as well as my home charger) no known issues yet, really enjoying the ride.
