I also just got a notification for 2020.8.1

September 2019 Model X Long Range. Just got prompted to 2020.8.1.. Took about an hour total to install but it completed.

Was on 2019.40.50.7. So stoked to finally be updated!
From the previous update 2020.4.1 to this took me 25 mins. Although the previous updates was a huge download and did take an hour. I’ve been noticing Performance MX get this update before long range or more P Mx owners are more eager to report.

Can you try "Open the glovebox" and see if it works for you?

“Open the glovebox“ didn’t work for me with the new update, here in Canada.

Some other testing results:

“Report an error” now reports “an error”, but anything I tried that was more specific didn’t work, such as “Report an error with the voice commands”; just random error messages such as “This command is not available yet”.

“Turn on the steering wheel heat” continues to actually turn on the steering wheel heat but report back that it “Failed” to do so.

Other commands are working and a substantial improvement over all previous versions (and of course dramatically improved over the essentially non-functional 2020.4.1). Much, much faster and responsive.

And, most fun of all, “Navigate to the nearest chademo charger” worked perfectly. We use Chademo regularly here in B.C. and this is a most welcome feature. Thank you, Tesla!

Various screen shots attached show ng these results.

I noticed yesterday afternoon that update 2020.8.1 was downloading. It took a long time to download, but eventually got to 100%; then got stuck and was still stuck at "Downloading 2020.8.1 (100%)" this morning. I did a reboot and reconnect to WiFi; the download seemed to reset and has re-downloaded from about 50% a few times, but always get stuck at 100%. Hopefully it will sort itself out at some point!

Not sure if it's my car or what but the download (decent wifi), and install took longer then any other install I've done so far going back to 2016. The install seemed to stall at 30% for about 30 minutes but did finally finish, total install time was about an hour. Typically my installs are 20 minutes max.

I left the car plugged into a 72amp/208v HPWC throughout the process. During the meat of the install it stopped charging for a bit (expected), and when it finally completed and started to charge again it defaulted to a 20amp charge speed (unexpected). Unplugging the car for a moment and plugging it back in brought it back to it's standard 72amp charge rate.

As a X owner with auto doors turned on I'm LOVING the new bluetooth takeover settings.

After about 5 download retries and 3 install attempts it looks like I now have 2020.8.1 installed! Release notes state I have improved bluetooth, regen braking, and voice commands. Sept'19 X LR.
