Early to tell but my theory is that it might contain an easter egg for 4/1
You can install our site as a web app on your iOS device by utilizing the Add to Home Screen feature in Safari. Please see this thread for more details on this.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
Moderator note: Merged two 2018.12 threads together.
Not targeting anyone in particular with this next comment: These firmware threads tend to get a little chatty with messages of the form "I got something, I'll you know what it is when I install it". These don't really add much value to the discussion (partially because at that point in the update cycle there's no way of knowing what version is to be installed!). Once you've actually applied the update in your car, that would be a good time to share anything useful you've found (e.g. release notes).
Thanks,
Bruce.
Got my MS 11/17 back this afternoon from the SC (leaking water in the interior, sunroof drain problem). They loaded the new version ready to install.
Same story here. I just installed it at home after picking the car up at the SC a couple hours ago [19s and snows off, 21s and new Pilot Super Sports on -- those are very nice!]. Was going to try the remote trunk opening but the iPhone app still reports "mobile access disabled". I think this is standard during the SC visit but should be released after you pick up the car: mine hasn't been.
Check the settings in your car, they probably turned off mobile access from there, at the SC.Was going to try the remote trunk opening but the iPhone app still reports "mobile access disabled". Off topic: my SC said: They sometimes shut down remote access, but not with mine. Geofencing disables dangerous remote functions anyway. I should have been able to open/lock the car and trunks.... next time....Check the settings in your car, they probably turned off mobile access from there, at the SC.
Just turn it on in the settings, they just turn it off. Nothing special
(slaps palm against forehead) ... yes, that worked. Thank you very much! I didn't realize that setting was there. I surmise that Tesla service has a standard procedure where they 1) load the firmware update, 2) install it, and then 3) turn mobile access back on. Because the install was very long they left it for people to do at home. But since they didn't do (2) they forgot to do (3).
I just checked it and it works. Pressing the button in the app opens the trunk and a second press closes it. Somehow I don't think that innovation (the only new feature in the notes) accounts for the very long install time. My car has AP1. Hopefully it is enhanced as was mentioned earlier in this thread.
The guy I talked to said he got 2018.12 early as an employee. He said the big thing in this is a major update to AP, both AP1 and AP2. He said he had AP1 and the update was a big improvement.
