So Exide was the original 12v battery manufacturer?

Unverified, but that's what my Ranger said. He wasn't sure who makes the new Red ones.

Do you have a model number on the new red battery? Looking at the C&D website, their deep cycle batteries are normally used in stationary applications like telecom backup. RVs have had vehicle rated deep cycle batteries for ages, as have marine applications. Hopefully Tesla can figure this one out...

Anyone have instructions for popping off the nose cone? I'm curious what battery I have.

The picture Al posted is 3264x2448 so the text is easily readable if you have the screen space. For those that don't...

Hi Al,
Sorry to read about the minor problems you have had to endure. Our VIN's are very close and I have zero problems after about 5k miles. I have installed the Escort 9500 which allows me to monitor the voltage on the display. When I had 4.3 firmware, the voltage would fluctuate pretty wildly. Now, with V4.4, it stays very stable at 13.6-13.8. Sure hope this bodes well for my 12 volt system.

Glad you maintain such a positive attitude! Not hard to do when you get to drive such a great automobile, is it?

Exactly. The car is superb. I expected some early adopter headaches. The Columbus Service Center has been incredibly responsive and easy to deal with. Tesla seems to hire great folks! I don't need to tell you, but the car is simply magnificent.

Glad to see you're still hanging on TMC Dennis.

I press. It does a click-click, then a pause and a cl-click. I unplug smoothly. I never hold. But if I don't wait for the second cl-click, it hasn't fully released yet, and it relocks.

Interesting, I might try that sometime.

When I picked up the car at the factory, I tried to remove the charger with a single press during the walk-through and it re-locked on me. The delivery specialist noticed that I had trouble pulling out the plug, and told me I should hold the button down. So I've done it that way ever since.
