Guaranteed that part is on the list for a redesign. This reminds me of the zipped-tied weight that early Model 3's had on the upper control arms.I have it too! My Vin is 19X and I took this picture as HomeLink was being installed. Sorry for crappy photo. It's the best I have.

Sandy was OK with it, that's good enough for me.
In fairness, that looks like real wood. ;-)All very helpful, thank you.
Is it a big deal that Tesla used faux wood trim during assembly of my vehicle? No. Is it funny? Yes, yes it is!
I’d probably think it was funnier had I not had to spend 10 + hours disassembling and reassembling my vehicle to correct the gaps and alignment.
Do you by any chance have the white interiorWait a minute. I have it too! Looks like I got the white trim option.
Thanks, Home Depot!View attachment 585941
Precisely.
If you watch his videos you see that he picks at every possible little thing. That he held this part in his hand, and even took the tape off to show the label shows that he didn't think anything of it.
Some people get outraged by things that don't align with their expectations, but not much follows from that except to reflect their expectations.
It didn't seem to offend Munro's expectations and his expectations and standards are much more experienced and informed on the things that actually matter.
I reserve my outrage for panel fitment and alignment issues, for which no one can credibly excuse.
I think it's great that they didn't delay production for such a simple thing. They probably had an issue getting the little white pieces on mine but what they used instead looks like it will work perfectly.
The strap and corner moldings are definitely and afterthought/fix for some problem that cropped up after production... take a look at the official Tesla parts catalog page below... no strap or corner moldings:

I would not take apart the compartment in the frunk for no reason. I took my photo when the mobile service was installing the homelink kit.Wow, everyone is taking apart the front of their cars just to check this out? Hopefully you were all able to get your frunk to seat properly.....!
Odd that someone disagreed. Don't believe my VIN?Mine has exactly the same thing. Serial number 23XXX
The skeptics will have a harder time denying next time, if pic is posted.Odd that someone disagreed. Don't believe my VIN?
"During the launch of Model S production in 2012, Mr. Musk set up an office in the middle of the factory floor in Fremont, Calif., and took over when hiccups emerged. He told workers to buy USB cables at nearby Fry’s Electronics Inc. stores after a snarl delayed a shipment from China." - WSJ2012... new company, first full production launch.... not too surprising.
2020... 8 years later... 5th model. <SMH>
Imagine the mockery if those photos were from a NIO, E-Tron or other EV.
