Fragile top glass and windshield 😠

I know this is slightly offtopic, what’s the best advise when it comes to reducing your chances of getting hit with stones on the freeway? I have learned to avoid being behind trucks as much as possible. Are there any other best practices you follow?

just like Subaru. The class-action lawsuit alleges the Subaru vehicles have defective windshields that may crack , after a minor strike to the glass, such as the stone's impact

My top glass and windshield were hit by a rock on the freeway and both cracked immediately!!! Costing me $3200 to fix and my appt to get it replaced isn’t till mid December!!! I also have a Mercedes and so many rocks have hit the windshield on the freeway and never has it cracked!! Sucks that we pay so much for Tesla and we have shitty glasss... anyone else agree?
Even though I filled claims with my insurance and they partially paid for the repairs, I hate how cheaply the glsss is.. does anyone else agree on this? is there a reason why the glass breaks so damn easily??? Anyone had the same thing happen to them.

I was rear ended back in Oct and it was barely tapped by the rear glass. It cracked the roof glass. Just part of nature.

My experience is… it’s actually safe behind big trucks. It’s when passing them on their sides they tend to kick up stuff.

I always try to pass on their driver side quickly. Good thing our cars are pretty quick.

Decades of driving, x2 (my wife), with ZERO windshield replacements, and in the past 5 years, we've replaced a VW windshield, a Toyota windshield, and my week-old MYLR (last January) was struck DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT! Fortunately, a quick repair prevented it from spreading, and it's still intact.

You can check all of the usual sources - Safelight etc. - but they are as dependent on supply as Tesla is. Last time I saw, people were waiting 2 months for so for a replacement.

I’ve had my top glass and windshield replaced which cost me $3200 I filed a claim with my insurance and was reimbursed by them after the repairs where completed. They kept trying to have safelite come out and repair it.. but finally was able to get on the phone with someone that told them Tesla had to repair it due to calibration of the camera. I didn’t want safelite replacing it. For some reason rocks are attracted to my car.. now I try my best to stay as far as I can from those stupid trucks

Best advice to avoid rocks in general, don't tailgate or drive too close to the car in front of you. People usually drive 2 car lengths behind.

That’s how I drive and still got hit by a rock

Oh then next thing is to slow down lol (probably going 70-80mph and even if 6 or more car lengths behind, you are catching up to any kicked up rocks pretty fast before they settle on the ground).

lol, only way is to slow down to zero.

Seriously though S happens. There's best practices yet nothing is a guarantee. Though it's like if you keep talking about your chances only go up.
