Agreed. It is always much harder to take features away than it is to add them. Especially in a luxury sedan market where Homelink is normally standard.
What was the mobile installation process like? How long does it take? What part of the new car does the service technician tear into? It's seems like the module is a simple "plug into harness" mode, but where does it go? I ask these questions in advance of a "mobile service" appointment I have next Monday, July 8th. I'm also wondering how long I will have to "hang around". Thanks for sharing your experience!
YeahIf I’m looking at an inventory LR RWD, 330XXX VIN, I think built in April, I imagine it’ll have homelink installed right?
So crazy that they just don’t include the Homelink module and raise the price a couple hundred bucks. On other cars, Homelink is usually on the visor or rear view mirror and does not require tearing your car apart to add it. Now they are clogging up Tesla mobile service to add these. Stop the madness.
Does anyone have a picture of the actual module they install? Is it just plug and play or do they have to make car config changes to activate it?

Oh wait. Here’s one on eBay:I'd like to see that as well! Good ask!
I would think so but I really don’t know. If the module is detected it might just automatically appear. No idea. The tech did bring his laptop into my car and do something but I have no idea what that was. He may have been checking other diagnostics since he also checked air pressure in my tires etc. Thanks! Good find. Don’t you need a software update as well?
I was told it’s software only update for $300 on my M3P+
