Does the removal of radar and activation of the attention aware internal camera negate the steering wheel nag when driving on autopilot?

No. Not yet. The UK cars also still have and still use radar.

Internal camera monitoring first reported as appearing in 4.15.11 which is not a public version - unfortunately no feed back and no indication if 15.11 is the only version with it so far. I certainly did not get the same release note on 4.15.12

Getting pushed to .18 as well tonight from 15.12. Did a fair amount of driving around the county and commutes to work. Noticed the car uploaded roughly 300MB almost every time I got home. The mothership must have gotten the data they need.

I doubt Tesla Vision will be USA only, so yes the current direction of travel is for the radar to be disabled.

I hope when it is they will remove the steering wheel nag and not keep both the internal camera and the nag

There is certainly hope, it will require type approval and likely be limited to motorways up to a certain speed to begin with. But eventually in some circumstances the need to hold onto the wheel will go.

Some news articles have suggested the end of this year, but I suspect it'll be a bit longer than that.

This is certainly how things are headed.

It would make sense to keep the radar as back up surely, I get machine learning and vision is coming on in leaps and bounds but there are numerous circumstances where it’s never going to work perfectly. I am not the biggest fan of the “Well it’s still better than a human” argument either. Redundancy is a feature, not a bug!

Nope. Musk says Radar is going.

Yes, phantom braking think was blamed on those clashing, but I would think if the car is smart enough to drive itself it should be smart enough to solve that problem without having to throw the thing out!

Will covering the internal camera cause any sort of failure?
I'm REALLY uncomfortable about that thing being enabled.
