Is anyone else’s FSD Beta vehicle trying to install 2021.40.6?

So my MSLR has been in service since Friday. Yesterday I saw that there was a 10.5 (2021.36.8.8) update available, but could not install since it was in service.

Today when I picked the car up from service, it’s still on 10.4 (2021.36.8.6) but now asking me to update to 2021.40.6, which is as far as I’m concerned a production build. FSD 10.4 still functions fine. I have emailed [email protected] but have not received a response.

Has anyone else on beta had this issue or currently have this issue?

Looks like service may have removed you from FSD track. Maybe message service and see if they can fix it? Though I wouldn’t count on the service center to know much about FSD beta.
They had my car for 5 days and did nothing. Did not even order replacement parts. It sat outside in the sun, discharging because of sentry mode for 5 days with doors UNLOCKED 🤬. Going to wait and see what anyone from FSDBeta email says

…10.5 (2021.36.8.8)…2021.40.6…FSD 10.4

Sorry for my ignorance.

I have early 2021 Model X, now with 2021.36.8.8, 10.5, I think.

What cars get 2021.40.6? Not being offered to me.

I figured that the 40 series was for refreshed Models S & X, or the original employee Beta-testers, or something. But I think older cars and maybe non-employees are getting it?

What is a “production build?”

Thanks.

According to TeslaFi, 2021.40.6 is being widely deployed to a variety of models, including pre-refresh S and X cars. I don't know which builds are the FSD Beta builds, but the most recent installs include updates to 36.5.1, 36.5.8, 36.8, and .40.

Production builds are regular software update for average users. They’re split into regular and EAP (early access program). Some people get the newest software before others. Beta is on a completely different track, you being on beta, you won’t receive 2021.40.6 until probably 10.6 which be built on a 2021.40.x platform (assumption). If you want the latest production build, you’ll have to unenroll from beta. If you want both, newest features and beta, you’ll just have to wait until the newest beta build is updated accordingly.

Currently:
2021.36.8.5 - Beta 10.4
2021.36.8.6 - Beta 10.4 on Refresh
2021.36.8.8 - Beta 10.5

2021.40 - Production
2021.40.6 - Latest Production / EAP

This site has a good breakdown of FSDBeta versions vs production. Click on any version and then in the left hand column it will show FSDBeta with a blue steerwheel icon.

Hmm. I need a "Like" icon for your post that conveys "Interesting But Puzzling."

Teslascope predicts 2021.40.6 "Recent Rollout Detected" (Software Updates). Maybe I'll be seeing something soon. (But I just got the 36.8.8 download!)
You don’t want 40.6 unless you’re trying to get rid of FSD Beta features

Seems like there’s a couple of refresh people with this issue. Anyone else who runs into this, feel free to comment and upvote so maybe Elon sees it and shoots someone a text for a fix.
I took the plunge and volunteered myself as tribute. I am now on 2021.40.6 from 2021.36.8.8 and can confirm that I am no longer on the fsd beta branch. I do get waypoints though, so I’m not completely empty handed.

I’ll post any updates on whether I get back on the fad branch or not. The safety score section in the Tesla app is not present and the request fsd beta button is opted out.

I wonder if you'll be stuck there until there's an FSD beta released on the 2021.40.x branch?
