I didn't see it mentioned, but I think the 328i is the lowest end BMW 3-series that can get their AP-like features, so if you plan on AP features (or even just AP safety features), you can't compare to the lower models which can't get them at all. This also helps Tesla's case as far as cost v features goes when comparing against BMW.
 
In the real world the Tesla 70d has a significant performance advantage(from the links you provided):
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 6.3 sec (328)
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 5.1 sec (70d)
Wow that is a huge gap. I didn't notice the launch control was the main reason why the 328i got those numbers. Yeah, in the real world a 70D would smoke a 328i given those numbers.
