Is it just me or does it look like there is a ton of width in the back to accommodate a much wider wheel?

The magic of Porsche gt cars has a lot to do with there ultralight unsprung massYes, unsprung mass affects handling for sure. However, far too many people think unsprung mass is what affects acceleration. Rotational mass affects acceleration more than static mass.
In handling for sure. However, lighter suspension components aren’t going to affect acceleration anymore than lighter seats would. The magic of Porsche gt cars has a lot to do with there ultralight unsprung mass
Wishful thinking but possibly just an illusion from the cover. Is it just me or does it look like there is a ton of width in the back to accommodate a much wider wheel?View attachment 1020222

$110K ($90K + track pack) is way more than $60K.Plaid doesn't cost much more than that.
Porsche GT cars run huge tires and wheels, and there's noting really special about the control arms or hubs. I mean, Porsche even runs rear axle steering that uses an actuator that increases unsprung mass. The magic of Porsche gt cars has a lot to do with there ultralight unsprung mass

Sorry. This thread moves fast!lol these were posted Sunday and yesterday haha. A little behind
Why? I think there’s plenty of room for them to do so. After all most manufacturing have a performance wing such as MB AMG, BMW M, etc. It would be a very good business model to follow for Tesla!I would be extremely confused why they would make a plaid M3 because it would basically make the S obsolete unless you needed more room but I guess we will see
I agree somewhat with that statement, but Tesla would dilute their brand if customer expectations of Plaid are not met.Which is the point. Plaid doesn't mean a speciifc 0-60 or quarter mile, or 3 motors, or carbon sleeved rotors, or anything. So saying:
Is completeley empty. Nothing stops Tesla from selling a Model 3 RWD with a wing on the back as "a plaid".
Fine. For comparison, you should add Track Pack to Model 3 too.
We're full circle on this conversation. Define "customer expectations of Plaid." I'm sure everyone will agree, right? /sbut Tesla would dilute their brand if customer expectations of Plaid are not met.
wide fender flares, double wishbone, 1100hp, active aero, Rear wheel steer...anything i'm missing? We're full circle on this conversation. Define "customer expectations of Plaid." I'm sure everyone will agree, right? /s

It’s a low volume platformSeeing as also in a RHD market that Tesla cannot be arsed with on their S and X. This is the fastest Tesla we will get.
Also not sure how much longer S and X will stay around. The sales numbers are pretty damn low.
Because none of those are even remotely close to a c63s or e63s in terms of power etc. Mercedes never made the cla45 even remotely comparable to their flagshipsWhy? A simple calculation using base Model S(3.1) and base Model X(3.8) 0-60 times vs their Plaid counterparts shows a 35% and 34% reduction respectively. The same can be said for the top speed on the base Model S vs Model S Plaid which is again a 35% reduction. That can’t be said about the base Model X vs Model X Plaid top speed which is likely limited for safety. 1/4 mile times are all over the place but likely would fall into the same realm? However, under this calculation the Performance already meets Plaid requirements, maybe it won’t be any faster! We're full circle on this conversation. Define "customer expectations of Plaid."
