Int

Interesting my local Tesla rep also told me that mine is scheduled to arrive 4/22 when I went in and spoke with her.

I’m not sure how accurate that is or if she actually saw something or if she is just blowing smoke up my ass, but we will see. I have a hard time believing that is accurate when I’m Midwest and still no VIN.
Just went to my local dealer and they said they couldn’t look it up without a VIN

Wouldn’t they have assigned the VIN though before that batch being delivered? Doesn’t make sense to ship some M3P to diff locations prior to even giving the VIN. But maybe I am mistaken? I’m not sure how they do it.
Idk, I got the vin Friday evening and they told me the car was on a truck in Cleveland on Monday evening. Since being in Michigan, I had to make payment before it gets to Michigan.

She's home, safe and sound... talk about a rocket ship of a first EV! I named her "Arya", after the unassuming assassin in Game of Thrones. I find the name is quite fitting

Maybe! I don't see any others in this area in tracking sheet but the sheet is not everyone. It's just you and cdubois in the area that might be picking up in the area. I'm assuming Buffalo, NY has their own pickup location? Albany, NY might be picking up from Verona also.
I don’t think there is a Buffalo delivery location yet.

My license plates are still not at the Oneida/Verona location yet. The SA implied they are mailed to the location. At least it is close to the Auburn Correctional Facility where the plates are made. Mt. Kisco may be more predictable.

Luckily, there aren’t state dealership laws preventing them from opening service locations. Henrietta opened right after I picked up my 2019 M3 LR AWD.

FWIW and I take it with a grain of salt, but I stopped by the sales center in Denver and spoke to an SA about my EDD realistically being accurate even though I have no VIN (June 19-June30) and he looked up my order which didn't give him much more than what I have but he did say that it was showing as a soft match which usually means the cars manufacture is imminent and that he believed the EDD was realistic. I didn't get the impression he was bullshitting, and I was very clear I understood that anything he told me meant nothing without a VIN. He did mention that most orders have another status indicating that no VIN is on the horizon. So, we'll see, I guess. haha.

I wonder if this “soft matching” is what some of us others have seen here. My SA told me she would expect I would get a VIN soon (this was last week) and that the car should be there 6/22. I have been taking it with a grain of salt until I get a VIN. But it does appear several people here have talked to local SAs that have mentioned a specific date or “soft” match prior to getting a VIN.

The question is how accurate, if at all, this information is. I like to think they didn’t randomly pull it out of thin air, but it’s hard for me to believe they are going to make my car, get me a VIN, and get it to the Midwest by around 6/22 considering it looks like we are maybe seeing 1-2 VINs a day this past week.

Maybe. when I pick it up I’ll be sure to note the manufacturing date.

If you want that, make sure to get it from your Tesla delivery specialist. Perhaps you already know this but the date on the car itself (on the sticker on the drivers door jam, etc) is "month / year" not "day / month / year". A Tesla SA or Delivery specialist can tell you the actual MFG tesla has assigned to the car though.

They used to call this the "born on date". Both the Teslas I have, when picking them up, I asked the delivery specialist something like "hey can you do me a favor? I would love to know the Born on Date for my car, for my own records / historical knowledge, can you check that for me?". Takes them a few taps and they can tell you.

Note that I asked for this at delivery of the vehicle, not before, and I dont recommend that a bunch of people start swinging by Tesla or contacting them saying stuff like "Hey I got a vin, can you tell me the born on date?". Please dont ask ahead of time, that has the very real possibility of making it so no one can get the information at all (through them getting annoyed... like has happened with "can you tell me the location of my vin now? how about now?" for some SAs).

So, ask for the born on date on pickup.

For most cars, the born date is on the driver side label in the door jam. I wonder if Tesla does the same?

Will do, thanks for the heads up

I don't know if everyone gets one of these but this was in my center console. It has a sticky border like it was stuck to something else, face down. But the MFG DATE is the same day I got my VIN. I attached the green post-it note just to cover up the VIN.
