I'm interested to know this as well. Switched 12v and ground under the rear view mirror cover, perhaps? Anyone know?
I spoke with a Dallas Car Toyz today and they have done some installs on 2021 MS. I have a few Escort 360 max detectors and love them. So they're going to do the wiring for me and I'm going to mount as high on the windshield as I can with Escort's new suction cup mount and have C.Toyz install a Direct Wire Smart Cord (red) somewhere convenient. Run it on Dark Mode and AutoMute and you'll never know it's there until you get a "reminder" from a mile or two away that you should ensure you are complying with local speed limits :)

Pictures and more details, post installation!

I don't know who you mean by "told by Tesla", but my Plaid came with summer tires for the 19s, and so has every delivery I've heard/seen here. By the way, did you mean LR, or any MS? I think it is still *possible* that some LRs, by region/ time of year, might get AS. But, looks very unlikely.
Yup! I agree, since when did words of SA carry any weight. They're full is crap most of the time. Not that they have bad intention. They just haven't got a clue and are mostly confidentially incorrect.

I'd love to have this installed in my Plaid for added protection and I'm sure a lot of us, who don't know much about it, would love if you'd share more info. Thanks

"Sorry, tied up at work today." ??
Wait, work? What's that?? Esp thinking of you, @BobbyRitz.

@Hayseed_MS Apparently I'm the only person wasting time on here. I could have used all of this time management advice 25 years ago. 😂

If you could find a way to tie politics and your billable rate, you would keep some busy posting for weeks.

I have very few vices in life, but wasting time being a smartass on TMC is one of them.

I may know a guy who was a traffic cop WAYYY back in the day and so I'm pretty understanding of how "running radar" works and the intricacies of traffic enforcement. The key to success to ensure you are in compliance with traffic laws, as we occasionally may lapse in our judgement of speed, is to get early detection of radar. Therefore a radar detector mounted VERY high on the windshield is best. You would be surprised the difference in miles a high mount vs. low mount can make. My Escort 360 mount has definitively detected KA band at 2+ miles. The remote button just makes a simple, accessible button to mute the detector and provide another visible indicator (red flashing light) when your detector is detecting a radar signal. KA band - almost assuredly police radar. K band - maybe police radar. Dual band KA/K band - yep, police radar. X band - turn it OFF. I'll post pics once I have the install done and if they can, I'll have them show me where to wire it.

Where do you plan to mount the small indicator mute button? When’s the install scheduled?

And even reg K-band isn’t used for police radar in FL anymore, so I turned that off as well. Only bands used in FL are Ka and Laser. No point in having anything else turned on in FL; otherwise the false alerts will drive you nuts.

A lot of the better, albeit older, mobile radar systems used a dual band system that would alternate between K and KA bands (thus the K & KA band is assuredly police radar). But I know the newer systems are a lot better than what I had available. And LIDAR is tough to detect and defeat. It's too "pinpoint."

Back in the day, we just plugged them into the cigar lighter. Simpler times.
Yep, I do recall! The question is, are radar detectors even worth it today? There are things like, Waze and other means. Most of the old bands detected, like K, aren’t used any more and others have to be “notched out” to prevent false alerts, etc. laser to pinpoint, etc. Thoughts?

I will let you know the answer to that on Sep 7th when I drop off the car!! lol. I'm not sure myself. I have an idea, probably somewhere in the dash-area, on the left hand side. This will give me "continuity" amongst vehicles. But that's also dependent on whether that's even possible since the Tesla is an all-new animal to me.

For those taking delivery - Check your tire pressure! May be high, lower or unbalanced!

Part 2: What pressure are you running with the 19s? With the 21s? Front and back the same, or lower in the rear for added grip and thrust?

Edit: Cold, I’m running 41psi up front and 39lns in the rear.
Check the door jam. Intended pressures for OEM tires are listed there. I would suspect this is the most ideal pressure to run the tires.

I stopped using radar/laser detectors probably 10 years ago. I use Waze, but generally just don't speed fast enough to get pulled over in places where cops could be hiding around the corner.

That's me. 430 VIN, built in May. About as good as I've ever seen.
I can reply to this, I got a 430 plaid, waiting on it to be fixed, and if it isn't I will reject it: the three problems with it: transport damage to the front fender inside the back lower side, damage to the rear bumper where it meets the body on the corner by the wheel, and the rocker not installed correctly. The 434 and 431 cars I rejected had way worse paint issues. Seems like the very first cars have been better, and 431+ is a crapshoot?
