Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Order placed 4/25, estimated production date last week of May, delivery mid-June. I still have until May 2 to make changes, no VIN assigned yet. I've been thinking about it so long I doubt there will be any changes:

90D, Pearl White, AP, air suspension, 72 A charger, lighting and convenience package. I hate leather seats. I was pondering the next gen seats because they have better bolstering, but while I like driving mountain roads somewhat aggressively, I'm not a sports car type.

As I understand it, production takes a few days, then shipping can vary quite a bit depending on distance from the factory. They told me today it would take 2-3 weeks to deliver to Portland, OR, which is a little further than Orange County, CA. We're about 650 miles form Fremont, though if they put the car on a train for all Northwest destinations, it will probably go to Seattle first.

If I was to guess, I'd say you're looking at the end of May or early June for delivery though there are many things that can delay delivery. The car may sit at the factory for a few days until they get together a full truckload or train car going to your destination (I believe all the cars destined for So Cal go by truck, but they go on trains to most other destinations in North America). If a problem is found during factory inspection or while prepping the car for delivery, that could cause a delay while they fix the problem.

Curious why you didn't upgrade the seats when you did everything else? Are wheels and pano more important than your seating comfort?

I've honestly never been on the base seats - they could be just as good as the updated seats.

My Model S 70D AWD was ordered on 4/8- confirmed on 4/15 & VINed on 4/15.
My DS told me my car was set to begin production on 4/25.

I live on the East Coast. Here is what my DS emailed me regarding timing on production and transport:

"Production of a Model S typically takes between 7 - 10 to complete.
Once a Model S completes production it is assigned transport.

Rail transport typically takes 20-25 to reach the east coast depot and then another 6 - 10 days to be transferred to truck transport.

Truck transport from Freemont typically takes 7 - 10 days to complete the cross country journey.

He says my car should be here in early June. Oddly enough, My Tesla specs page says delivery late April, early May. Go figure.

I inquired on this very topic with the same thoughts in mind and my DS thought a week or so sooner. So, I asked to pick it up in Fremont instead and was therefore reassigned to a Fremont DS. He called, introduced himself, and said it could be 2-3 weeks sooner (woo hoo) and that I'd love the tour anyway. I told him to start collecting one of everything available for my swag bag to prevent him from any last minute scrambling.

Wow, a bunch of cars entering production lately. Received my email tonight as well. Sounds like there's no real way to figure out a better estimate for delivery based on your in production date...

I went and saw the new model today. The entire license plate holder can come off. The screws are underneath. Tesla can't take it off due to legal reasons. But my rep said it's very easy to remove.

Well, that's a little murky. My actual confirm date was 3/24, but I originally requested June delivery. Then on April 4 I asked for delayed delivery to be removed.

I received an email today entitled 'your order has been modified', but the design spec remains unchanged as does the delivery window. Anyone else? Precursor to revving up our queue and moving us all into production?

How can a simple email of nothingness have me imagining those robot arms dancing & building our cars right now?
