Wiki Model S Delivery Update

So I am now about 26 hours away for getting my Model S. Thank the gods I have a big meeting this afternoon, or I would be going crazy with anticipation. Didn't sleep much last night (and I don't expect to much tonight).
Thank goodness I took tomorrow off to pick it up :)

And I know my wife will be happy too... For one, she loves the car, and also she can't wait for me to quit talking about it all the time :)

Reflecting back It's been a long journey, from the first interest and desire, over a year of research, switching reservations from an X to an S, the design options & decisions, the ordering, and the waaaaaait, and it's just about here.

I'd just love to know how many times I went to refresh the website - it would humorus almost to the point of pathetic :)

I was smiling the other day when I realized I hadn't refreshed in a week and found new time to fill elsewhere.....like driving!
Congrats @Mailtrey. Being a Zero never felt so good.

Thought I'd post here after reading all the threads.

Just ordered a Tesla Model S on 6/15 after I learned about the price drop. I still have my 3 reservation, but may cancel that.
My order was just confirmed today, and I have a VIN assigned as well.

Here are the details after multiple changes:
Model S 60 D
AWD
Red MC
19" wheels
Grey Next Gen
Dark Ash Wood
Black headliner
Autopilot
SAS

Can't wait...

Finally made the plunge. I originally had a deposit on a Model S 4 years ago before they launched. Waited 7 months and when they came to ask me to place order, i backed out due to range anxiety. I have sat and watched Tesla grow and advance into an amazing company building awesome cars.

Last weekend, I went to the Fremont factory and had great service going over all the options that although i had studied continuously online and on this forum, still needed further clarification. My wife came with me and was very impressed by the great service and that we could look at all the color choices and the rest of the design options.

Spent more time agonizing whether to do 60, 70 or 90. The forum here has helped immensely in weighing all the pros and cons. Settled on the following:

Model S 90D - range anxiety eliminated with this distance and all the superchargers now in place vs 4 years ago.
Red Multi-Coat - was between this and the "new" blue. Long time since i have had a red car; this red is awesome.
Panoramic Roof - the most indecisive option; I'm tall (6'3") and it gives me just a little extra headroom.
21" Grey Turbine Wheels - wasn't going to go with 21", but when i made that plunge, these wheels looked great (and less showing of brake dust)
Black Next Generation Seats
Carbon Fiber Décor
Black Alcantara Headliner
Supercharger Enabled - what a selling point.
Autopilot - super excited about this!
Premium Upgrades Package - bought more for the power liftgate, but other adds were nice
Ultra High Fidelity Sound - really decided on since i wanted XM

The amount of time i spent deciding on each option was more than i have spent on any other car i have bought in my life (over 20 cars). Makes the process that much more exciting.

So now in the "painful" grace period. Ordered 6/18. Doing a pickup at the factory (and the tour) which should be awesome.

Fightening with electricians to call me back to provide quotes on charger install and those that have, the crazy high prices to install the charger. Also already contacted Jason at Alliant for loan; wow amazing customer service.

Right there with you. It's been almost 1 year to the day that I first took a test drive. I think my wife is ready for me to get the car and move on to a different obsession.

Good luck with your delivery tomorrow. I'm very excited for all the new Houston owners!

Delivery was yesterday. 17 days from confirmation, I got lucky!

Feeling fortunate to get to drive John Wayland's White Zombie racing EV from Amtrak to the delivery appointment. The Zombie is a much quicker EV than any Tesla, but far less refined. ;)

This was the first time I saw the refresh S nose in person. I really like it! To me the basic white color looks great. Overall I'm very happy with this base 75 plus sunroof.

Of course a whole pile of friends wanted to share the delivery experience!

For those of you looking, here is my pack sticker.

Surprisingly after driving on the Adaptive Air for two years the spring suspension felt great. Trips around rough Portland streets at first by myself and then gradually with up to five occupants as we shuttled cars and people to dinner were impressive. It feels like an excellent balance of smooth and sporty to me.
The base model seats are fine, similar to my 2013. I can see how those who want comfort there would opt for next gen. Additionally I'm sure I'll be tempted to upgrade to autopilot after I try it, despite that it doesn't fit the long term mission for this car for me. Many thanks to everyone at the delivery center and especially Jason and the techs in service who quickly resolved a minor misalignment of door window trim.
It was a pleasant surprise to get the new center console with the cell phone adaptors. I figured that would be premium only.
I must say, for a base model it's well equipped. The interior noise has also improved over the years, my delivery specialist (Ari?) explained that the parcel shelf in the back helped with sound reduction.

Overall I had an excellent experience and a fun time picking up my first "real" Tesla!

So just got a call from a nice lady at the location where i'm picking up my car. She wanted to go over everything and she said it looks like everything is going smooth and your car should be able to be delivered on 6/30 !!! WHOO HOOOO !!! my BDAY is 7/2 so this is great. I asked her was it in production yet, because i haven't seen an email. She said no, it should go in tomorrow. ! Made an appt for 11am on 6/30 !
So an update. I have not seen that i have gone into production but i get get a link to pay the balance due. So something is happening

@Rhyder...... stopped by my SVC to test drive an X last week, and saw a titanium S. WOW, you will NOT be disappointed. The DS told me that Titanium is the most desired color by the inside Tesla techies these days.

A side but touching note.........he also pointed out a beautiful midnight silver oddly barricaded saying that single car was their favorite because it is waiting for its owner to return from Iraq where his tour was unexpectedly extended. The soldier ordered online and aimed to have timed it with his return. Tesla is ensuring he gets the best available everything when he finally returns home hopefully by December. His VIN was one digit after mine which was chilling. So close and yet so far.

Have fun! Can't wait to see the photos. I have the same colors (midnight/black) coming in a couple weeks.

Gotta be hot down there in Houston. Fairly toasty here in ATL these days. What are you thinking for tint? I am leaning toward Photosync 45 sides/back. Maybe 35 on back. Maybe 75 front. Jury is out for me on the front and/or pano. But def will be doing moderate tint back/sides in Photosync or 3M Crys...don't know much about the other options..Huber, etc. I figure one of those two should be good.)

That's a wonderful story. I'm sure he will love his car the way we love ours.

Mine was delivered the same way. I didn't notice during delivery and was kicking myself that I hadn't noticed. But the beauty of the fix is that it was done remotely and the download took only about 30 minutes! Voila! Upgraded charging!

Congrats Eschummer!

So thank you! Yes, in my case too they were able to do it with an overnight software upgrade. It's happily charging away at 72 A as I type this. The phone app is great too. Today we were finishing lunch and when we paid, I popped open the sunroof and turned on the climate control. By the time we got to the car (perhaps a 5 minute walk) it was nice and comfortable inside....

Finally posting some pictures from our delivery yesterday at Fremont. The tour was amazing - really showed you how much work and detail they put into all their cars.

We didn't find too many issues after inspecting the car. We just found a couple of dirty spots on the headliner (there was a red arrow sticker pointing to a dirty spot but apparently no one cleaned it) and we also noticed that one of the screws in the frunk was screwed in tight but was only screwed in half way. We will have to go to a SC to get these things fixed.

Other than that, the ride home in traffic was fantastic (never thought I would say that)! The drive feels like I am gliding above the road. This is truly the most amazing car ever!
