Hello , my first post. Getting metallic silver P100D, with VIN 169111 to be delivered any day now. I was assigned Charles May out of Fremont. The car is currently in Seattle, to be delivered here in Big Sky Country. Does anyone know this person. Very excited, really appreciate all the previous posts, all educational. I now have a checklist of what to go through on receiving the car... now having it delivered to the aftermarket shop directly to apply all the protective coating, thanks for all the advice!
It sounds like an awesome car!

We took delivery of our 90D today! It's blue with a white interior (PUP, with ventilated seats) and we are very pleased with how it looks. We got SAS because we have a steep driveway and it worked great.

The San Rafael SC parking lot is very long and narrow, with lots of cars scattered about and it's not super well laid out. There were other cars blocking all of the blue disabled spots (none of which had disabled plates or placards), which was a bit frustrating, but we were able to make it work for my husband, who uses a wheelchair. They said they had around 12 deliveries today. The guy who did our walk through is actually an OA from the Corte Madera showroom, because they are short staffed for all of the year end deliveries. He was still pretty knowledgeable and when he didn't know something, he was happy to ask someone else for us.

The paperwork was quick, we didn't notice any flaws with the car, and we received a gift bag with umbrella, mug, pen, and lapel pin. The fobs both came with holders.

We're already connected in the Tesla app, which surprised me.

We'll be testing out the range and supercharging in a little over a week when my son returns to college, about 230 miles away!

Delivery experience continued.

I apologize in advance to the gentleman who answered these questions at the Marietta store. Sorry IF I misrepresent your answers. This is what I heard.

So I skipped the walk through and asked for answers to the following questions. Here is what I understood from the 30 min stand up meeting outside the car.

Q Explain HOV lane use again?
A If I put Mojlnir on my plate as I plan to do, I may not have the privilege of driving in that lane alone. Also it is not free, I get a discount and would still need peach pass. I have sun pass. My Tesla rep couldn't speak about what that means for me and Mojlnir.

Q Explain warranty options again
A I can buy warranty up to 1 month before the existing one expires which is 5 years/50000 miles and 8 years/unlimited miles on the battery + drive train. I cannot expand the later. Service is a one time buy within 60 days of taking the car.

Q I wish to restrict remote access to Mojlnir from the app can I do that?
A by default the phone app is not allowed to control the car. I can turn that access on or off. He asked why and I mentioned the alleged "butt summoning" issue. He could not speak to that but he stated the new app asks for authentication before starting or moving the car.

I turned it on.

Q what are the Range extend mode gotchas?
A Climate control and performance get limited.

Q Can the app or key put windows up?
A No.

Grrr

Q Most defensive EAP settings?
A EAP following distance is one. Standard regeneration has quick response time. He made sure I know my EAP is not available and all the demo cars driving themselves are EAP 1 and not 2.

Note - I didn't believe this as my loaner had the ap2, cameras and drove itself to my job and home. SO sales must have misled me with something or withholding info.

Q Weight balancing does it matter?
A No

Q How much load may I put in ?
A <=900 LBS

Q What are the dos and don'ts or what is the most important thing to know owning this car?
A He would not change a thing owning this or any other car. Do not run it out of fuel.

Q Which is more efficient Heat vs sub zero package?
A sub zero uses less energy than trying to heat the cabin

Q How do I record my list of defects if i find any and how to handle them re: timing?
A all things found will be covered under warranty and report them as soon as you find them to service department.

Q Programmability...scheduling tasks...may I do that?
A No. The car learns my behaviour and adjusts. I may not program it like my home.

Note - My jaw dropped. There are so many things I want this smart car to do in my automated home. I'm still in shock. Example Preheat/cool while on power just b4 I have to go to work. It will do that eventually. Opening and closing garage door depending on gear and location...so far it has not done that. It closed it but not opened it as yet. Alert me if home and not plugged in...he said app may do that. I cannot find it. He recommended i check the App features.

Q I wish for a pin to send each command to execute any car-moving tasks possible? 2 factor auth.
A No.

Q Charging to 100% does it hurt the battery?
A yes it Shortens battery life. He insisted the best way to preserve the battery is to charge to 80%.

Q may I set the Car's Name to Mojlnir
A Yes. Press the T at the top of the screen.

Q What should I expect re: Updates
A Connect car to WiFi at home and updates come overnight...

I did just that and got up at 6:30am this morning to find that Mojlnir slept all night like I did. No updates. My cruise control and EAP does not work as yet.

The only 2 questions he did not know the answer to were...

Q what frequency WiFi does Mojlnir prefer? 5Ghz or 2.4ghz
A No one ever asked that. He says It connects to any WiFi

My home has 4 networks. Video, automation, guest, and private wifi. The car saw only my 2.4ghz networks from the garage. I put it on my guest network until I can analyse its traffic and see what it generates. I may or may not trust it later.

Q may i connect Mojlnir to the External 3tb drive that was in my Mazda?
A he did not know this either as I'm the only nut who does that. I said that about me not him. I cd library while driving. I sync it to a WD TB drive and it connects to my kia or mazda.

Q tell me about the spare tire?
A there is none. And no Jack either. I almost blacked out...I think because I stopped breathing. WHAT?
He said ...
"Just called roadside assistance."
I drive in places roadside assistance would take hours to reach or may not want to go without backup. This was the most shocking.

Q Maintenance between servicing ?
A He answered but I forgot his answer because I was still woozy from spare tire answer.

Q Super chargers?
A for me unlimited use and free.

Q what should i know about Range, anxiety, stretching range and low power driving...
A He said it will quickly go away, drive slower and you will go further. On long trips, plan to hit them all with this car.

Q i bought a second Mobile connect. It was open, how many pieces was supposed to be in it?
A Cable + 3 adapters. Mine is good.

I purchased wheel locks. THEY STICK OUT AND LOOK TERRIBLE ON THIS CAR. WISH TESLA REDESIGNS THEM.

I purchased all weather mats they are SEXY, FEELS GREAT and the fit is awesome.

Q Wife profile vs mine, will keys tell us apart?
A I hear new software said it should.

We tried it and it's still confusing us
We get to the car with both keys
She weighs 98lbs. I weigh 200lbs. If I could program the car I would have it detect that. :)

Q Loaners policy, will I get one when service has my car?
A This is base on availability.

Q Whats included in Profiles
A Auto lockup and open... plus
Other car settings like
Seat and mirrors positions

Q is it charged
A Yes

He took.my keys and put them in a rubber wrap..real cool.

This kid was sharp and cool...he printed my temp tags, gave me some swag and took care of my phone hookup.

BTW today I got a phone case and it cannot connect to create anymore. My fault.

More experiences to follow.

If you are on the fence re buying a Tesla......

Ask me before Sunday ...

I may help you get the best deal...if you order before Sunday.1/1/2017.

That in my opinion is Totally unacceptable as you paid for a car without flaws, not 'Oh, that's normal'. I'd say that's nothing short of BS if you hand me a car I just paid $160k for. As you had said, coming from German engineering and German quality, you should be expecting nothing less. My 2nd P100D will be picked up on Thursday and it had better not have these issues, not one of them. When I took delivery of my first P100D which was at the end of September this year it had one flaw. One of the trim pieces were misaligned. Again, being that I work on my and customers high end cars, it was acceptable as it took less than 5 minutes to correct. Photo above of my last car with modifications.

I too have owned everything from the Mercedes GTS to BMW 5 series, Audi RS6, and run a company that deals with exotics on a regular basis. I understand that things happen when being transported but not directly from the production line. That's just unacceptable and Tesla's quality control needs to tighten up if this is a common occurrence. Just my 2 cents but I know that I'm not alone with these thoughts.
How did your new P100D look when you picked it up?

Took delivery of my Model S 90D today. Every person I have dealt with at the Tesla - Houston North Center has been top notch. The car was delivered flawless. Love the all glass roof.

I was misinformed, DS did not inform me that NONE of the AP features including adaptive cruise wouldn't be available for newest hardware.

Oh well, sounds like the first round will be coming any day now!
I was talking to the service technician when taking my car in for a bunch of manufacturing issues the other day, and I mentioned that I'm looking forward to getting some AP 2 features by the end of the year, and he said, "yeah, that's probably not going to be until February/March." That's the first mention I've heard outside of it being by the end of the year. I sure hope he's wrong, but it wasn't good to hear that from a guy with a closer connection to the Tesla software/firmware releases than we have.

We took delivery of our 90D today! There were other cars blocking all of the blue disabled spots (none of which had disabled plates or placards), which was a bit frustrating, but we were able to make it work for my husband, who uses a wheelchair.

There really are no reasons they can't keep the disabled spots clear. I don't care how many deliveries there were that day. The spots are there for a reason, people need them.

My wife and I just picked up our P100D, model S today in downtown Chicago. I am in a wheelchair, a paraplegic for more than 30 years. If you don't mind me asking does your husband have any difficulty getting in the car? Did you get a model S or X? I love both but the S is tight getting in and out.

Good Luck.

Well, as I mentioned in the post above I picked up our P100D. What an incredible car!!! I didn't even put the car in Ludicrous mode, still crazy fast. Overall the delivery specialist was very nice. She seemed very knowledgeable and sat in the back seat while my wife and I sat up front. She went step by step through all the screen functions. So much info to remember.......I expect it will take a couple weeks of driving to get more comfy with everything.

There was one problem we had. There is a scratch that is about 2" long right in the middle of the rear bumper. It runs from side to side and can't be buffed out. They apologized and sent me a text as soon as they noticed it while prepping the car. I just don't know how well they will be able to touch it up. They are going to make arrangements for me to bring it back when they have a tech person that specializes in this type of work. They gave both my wife and I very nice winter jackets as an I'm very sorry gift (which was very nice). I guess I will just wait and see how good they do with touching it up.

A couple things I noticed on the car and don't know if this is normal? Anyone have any info on #1 and #2 below? Or opinions on what I should do about the scratch situation?

1) There seems to be a little bit of very high pitched noise from time to time when staying at a constant speed or slightly pressing on the gas peddle. It isn't obnoxious but noticeable from time to time with everything else turned off. Anyone else ever notice anything like this?

2) After getting out of the car in the garage and closing the door I heard a noise that kind of suprised me. After about ten seconds after the car shut down there was a fairly loud noise that sounded like plastic gears grinding? Should there be any noises with the car shutting down?

Oh, not sure if it is on the checklist for what you should be looking for when picking up your Tesla but check the steering wheel. I didn't notice because I was to wrapped up in the whole "I can't believe I am picking up a Tesla P100D" but the alignment is off. While driving straight down the road the steering wheel is tilted about 3%-5% off center to the left. I noticed because the T in the middle of the steering wheel was tilting to the left. So, make sure to check that the T is straight up and down when the front wheels are facing straight ahead.

Thanks,

Thanks,

#1, Yes, the electric motors have a small high-pitched whine to them. All electric cars have this as well as most of the hybrid cars.

#2, My car does some strange clunking after parking it in the garage. At first I wondered what it was, but now I just accept it as it does it every day right after I plug it in.

That may be the "emergency" (parking) brake. It is gear driven and it clamps down on the rear wheel brake disks.
