Wow, that's so great! 7 weeks, 2 days from order to delivery.
Mine was 10 weeks, 2 days from order to delivery.

Of course, I ordered late in the quarter. You ordered EARLY in the quarter.
I believe that is the difference. Maybe.

Anyway, congrats on your new car. You will love it!
I sure love mine, especially when I am in traffic and find some space in front of me.....I like to accelerate and leave everyone in the dust!

Opti-coat question:
I just spoke to the "Certified" dealer who quoted us $1,200.00 to do the car but was very upfront that a Tesla is going to need three to Four hours of detail work done to the paint, and warned me up front to add another $300-$400.00.

The other dealer in the area wasn't very enthusiastic about doing the job.

What are you folks seeing in up charges for correcting the paint? Will the dealer deal with every little issue if you can catch it on the check out?

Thank you!!! I have been hearing that a lot about what part of the quarter you order in possibly determining the delivery timing. About that readily available acceleration, I think I am most excited about that lol

Mine did all of the prep work for the total sum of $1200. He went over my car with several different LED lights and found a lot that needed to be corrected but not anything that would require sending back to the dealership for them to correct. He did say that it was “typical new car things” and he would take care of them and he did. He also sent me a video of the very first part of his inspection which was the hood, where he found some scratches, swirls and other small things that had actually occurred during prep when the waxed the car at the dealership. A bunch of little things plus a “spot” of blue adhesive/glue about the diameter of a tennis ball on the bottom corner of the back bumper.
I’m not sure where you are, but it might be worth it if you’re in the Southeast, near Nashville, to bring your car here to have Chris Marlin do it for you. Of course, I figure you’re farther away so hopefully you can find another authorized dealer who is more reasonable and enthusiastic about his job. Chris, who did my car is probably the best in the business. He was trained by the best, in Memphis which is the corporate headquarters of Optimum and is only 3 hours from his shop, in Nashville. He is very enthusiastic about his work and this product and I KNOW my car was in PERFECT condition before he applied the Opti-Coat Pro Plus. Plus my car is black which is always going to show more imperfections and swirls to begin with. Chris is very proud of his work and loves showing off the results. (He even trained the technicians at the Rolls Royce and Bentley dealerships here in Nashville, so he’s good.)
Try to find another technician if you are able to. Good luck to you!! Keep me posted! :)

I believe that is the case. Makes you think about it but really and truly, the earlier you order, the sooner you get your new Tesla. I have also heard that the first "part" of the quarter, they make European deliveries (steering wheel on the right etc.) and the second part of the quarter, they make the American cars. Makes sense too, when you think about production and delivery to meet quarter expectations. Get those cars going the farthest away made first because it takes longer to get them to their destination. Like a fine oiled machine, Tesla has it all worked out. We are the ones who have to figure that out for ourselves, (with a little help from some of the more knowledgeable and communicative Delivery Specialists, like mine, Lindsay Ek, who is tops in her field.) The dealership in Nashville is absolutely the very best in communication and response time. I have nothing but high praise for the Nashville dealership and have to mention my owner advisor, John Blanks, who I was fortunate enough to have assist me every step of the way. John makes everyone feel welcome and is extremely patient and understanding when it comes to making these difficult decisions we have to make along the way in this fun journey to the ultimate driving machine. Always there to answer questions, always there to be sure I know what I need to know etc. The Nashville dealership has to be tops in regard to customer satisfaction! Exceptional in every single way!
Can't WAIT until you get your Tesla!!!!

I'm over 12 hours from you. a little to far. Or should we say I'm about 3-4 superchargers away?

Honestly I though he was very honest about the paint issue and bringing is to the for front. Here in DC area, They quote you low and hit you up for all kinds of changes or surprises. The non-certified guy just quoted a low ball price.

I should heed the advice from others on the check list and check the car over real careful with the LED lite and have Tesla fix it.

I agree with that. Tesla SHOULD fix it and absolutely should not be creating MORE issues while prepping for delivery. I am glad that, as you say, the certified technician was up front with you, that means a lot. It would be nice if you could get an expert detailer to look over the car as well, just to be sure everything has been taken care of. I am sure, like mine, everything will be minor but hey....you want it to be perfect, it's NEW! I would feel very comfortable after that. The certified technician is definitely the way to go.

That is something I haven't entertained yet, but it's an option. I will definitely put that to my technician who is rated one of the best in the Southeast. I may ask him when I pick my car up tomorrow. Good question!

Were you able to ask your guy if there were any benefits to applying both XPEL (~$2,250) and Opti-Coat Pro (~$1,995) treatments? Spoke to a detailer and he stated most MS vehicles he has treated in the SF Bay Area got both. But it seems like a lot of $$$!

Not to step on CBP, I asked the shop here and he recommended the XPEL on the front clip to prevent the paint chips. That was all he said here. I have heard previous posts to also minimize the damage from door dings.
