Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I’ll be there on the 17th also. I’m from TN, but Decatur is closer than Nashville for me. Happy St. Patrick’s to us both!

Decatur has really been busy the past few weeks, lots of deliveries. I had a similar choice to make, Charlotte or Decatur. We have family in the Atlanta area so it was an easy choice. I think I will miss you guys by one day. I want to get my car on Friday the 16th so I can have the Expel applied (Friday-Saturday). What did you order? I will look for it on Friday!

Thanks for the response. I get this under the car:

“You will be contacted by a Tesla delivery specialist to arrange for payment and delivery of your Model S.”

So I was told it was to be built last week. So maybe soon.

If you ordered within the past week or two you probably don't have a VIN yet. The MANAGE my account link on your Tesla page is where these updates are supposed to appear but there have been cases where the car is ahead of the updates. Nevertheless, when you start getting stressed out you can check your Account page multiple times a day - much better than repeatedly calling your DS, Another way to ease the anxiety is find someone here with the same order date/confirmed date/vin date and most important the same part of the country. If you are new you may not have picked up yet on how the production schedule is skewed - cars that have to be delivered the furthest get a head-start.

Get all your paperwork submitted, open a bottle of wine, sit back and try to relax   o_O

I was scheduled for Friday the 16th also, and requested the 17th so that I wouldn’t have to take a day off of work. I ordered an Obsidian Black 75D with PUP, sunroof and multi-pattern interior.

I actually have the vin. But it was a weird situation as I was going to order and wait until June for delivery. Sales called and had a car with the specs I wanted except it had the $4500 rims. I asked to have rims switched out. They said they could and then told me car was scheduled for production this week (call occurred last Saturday).

Hopefully you used a "friends" referral link or code to get the free supercharging for life on your MS. It may be too late to add one to your order at this point, but it' a freebie they give you anyway for being referred. If you need a referral code, you can PM me. If you used one for your order, then awesome. In some cases, like my friend Chris, they were able to add it retroactively.
Just trying to help, and welcome to the Tesla family.

Thanks for the offer. I used a friends referral already. I’d been on the fence for a year or so and driving his X and seeing how it drove made me jump into the Tesla famlily.

Has anyone else noticed that the image of the Model S being used on the MyTesla page is the old design? I just noticed it Friday. It has the old nosecone and the metal roof. It has the same old Model S images on the pdf when clicking "View Spec".

I guess a quick final question before I decide to cancel or not.

Once the car does go into production is the process fairly smooth from that point forward in regards to the timeline? Obviously all the waiting being up front when it was just "Scheduled" Thoughts from those who went through the entire process.

Yeah, its very smooth. Took me just over 2 weeks to get the car from entering production. Hang in there...the car is worth it. Talk to Tesla HQ and get your update. DS must be an inefficient but car is awesome!

I am! I have been in the process of changing our insurance which has been a BEAR. We currently have our home and cars with Met Life and we have changed to a different company with better premiums, better coverage etc. Plus Met Life is no longer offering discounts to NRA members, so that was a deal breaker for us.
As for driving, it's been raining here so much I haven't been able to drive much. I hate getting my car wet and dirty since it was just detailed and ceramic coated so I got to drive it on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and it's been pouring ever since. I have 124 miles on it!!! BUT, I do have to say I having the most fun EVER with a new car as I have ever had. It's fun when people stop you and ask about it etc. Everyone who sees it just drools!!! Fun to drive (when I can!) and I love it more every time I drive it!

Hmmm...I'm beating you it @CBPfromTN :) Work's been crazy with 60+ hours BUT it hasn't stopped me from driving it all over. @451 miles in 4 days :) Just LOVING the car. I still love my Audi A6 Quattro but this car is something else for sure. I do miss some luxury features but the drive makes up for a lot of misses.

Congratulations on making it through the production phase. I felt so much relief yesterday when I got that the news. I’m sure your feeling pretty good.

I left work early to go home and tackle the wall charger cabling. Worse than I planned, got a quick start getting across the basement ceiling when I found a drag line to pull the cable. That was the only thing that went right. 6 hours later my son and I got it pulled. I had beams, fire stops , and duct work blocking our paths. Wound up cutting 7 holes to get it done. Taught my son some new cuss words. Glade to get this over with, I’ll mount the wall unit some time this weekend and finish it off.

Great that you're done with the hard part!

Hey guys, been lurking since I ordered in early Feb so it's nice to finally say hi!

This wheel-less situation just happened to me and I predicted it had something to do with the vehicle going into production. Sure enough, the Tesla website updated my vehicle as "in production" within a day or two. See attached.

Funny enough, my DS didn't mention a thing about starting production. I'm picking up from the Nashville location btw.

Hang in there. The wait should be over soon!

Just curious, what features do you miss most about the A6? I'm currently driving a 2017 A4 on 21"s and I love it. I'm nervous that my new-found love for German build-quality is going to leave me disappointed with small things like misaligned trim. How do you find the cabin noise at highway speeds compared to your A6?

Got some good news and some bad... My vehicle is finally at the local dealership, and will be ready for delivery sunday March 4th. The bad news is, I just got a phone call from my ds, and was informed that there's a blemish(scratch) on the bottom part of the front console next to the nav screen. Im waiting for pictures to see how bad it is, but thats a royal buzzkill... Damn. They are saying they will fix or replace the part, but the reason for me to order a brand new factory order tesla is to have it in a factory condition, not repaired/replaced... Damn! /vent

@HA3AP - Check it out in person and make that determination. I had a couple of minor paint scratches on back bumper. They gave me an option to schedule delivery. I kept the car but will be taking it back to service. They will repaint it or replace the bumper. If your screen is completely replaced (hopefully SOON), does it really matter?
