A Bit of a Mix-up

Tuesday, 2/12/2013 Call from Seattle Delivery Experience Specialist. Car ready this weekend. Set date for Sunday, 2/17. Requested final MVPA so I can arrange financing with USAA. Note: USAA had provided an "Electronic Check" which I am supposed to send to the dealer, who enters appropriate information. They FAX to USAA and USAA initiates an ACH transfer to the dealer.

Tuesday evening Final MVPA arrives via email, I complete and sign via DocuSign, and return. By separate email, send my Product Specialist (PS) the electronic check.

Wednesday morning PS acknoiwledges receipt of the electronic check and says will send to USAA that date.

Friday, 2/15 Having heard nothing from USAA or the PS, call the PS. He will check things. At about 3 PM USAA calls to verify that I want the loan. They had received the electronic check one hour before they called. Being that Monday is a holiday, the funds will not get to Tesla until Tuesday. Explained my dilemma - car to be delivered Sunday. USAA says they will overnight a check to me for delivery Saturday. Great service USAA, thanks.

New problem. Remember that both wife and I will not be at home Saturday. On line, divert check to local FedEx office that is open 9 to 9 both Saturday and Sunday.

Wile I am out, PS calls and tells wife that everything is all taken care of. Yeah, sure.

Moral: Keep on your PS's tail.

Mine is finally on the way! I can't believe it. Coming to New Orleans via Georgia? A bit of a detour but TX is too busy apparently.
Driver called and said he should be here around Lunch.

vin 4957

Calling to check seems to help BTW. My delivery window did not START till Feb 19th so they are ahead of schedule

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!! OH MY GOD!!! OH MY GOD!!!!

I got my VIN # today!!!!!!!!!!!! 5431!!

It should leave the factory end of this week, and be in New York City end of next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't sleep and I can't concentrate on anything!!!!!!!!!!!

woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only the carbon fiber spoiler is on backorder until end March, my DS (julia) stated

Update from Tesla HQ: my car left the factory already, is currently in Arizona, due in New York (actually Springfield New Jersey) on the 20th!!!! Ahhhh I cannot sleep!!!!

My VIN is somewhat behind yours and I haven't been able to get an update for several days. From what you say, the odds are my car is already in transit, but I can't get any information. I previously described my timing issues which mean I would really like to SCHEDULE a SPECIFIC delivery date. I figure there's no point in calling on the weekend or on President's Day so I guess Tuesday is gonna be another day on the phone trying to extract information from Tesla with metaphorical pliers and thumbscrews...

...(etc.)

Ouch, what a pain. Chicken-and-egg problem. And yet how do people buy their first car? ;-) Sorry this is such a PITA.
I appreciate the sympathy. :)

WHen you speak with tesla, what do they tell you? if you have a vin, they can tell where in the production process it is (or if its left the factory), no?

Just picked up my car from the brand new Springfield Township Delivery Center in New Jersey...I was the 2nd person to pick up a car there. Everything went great and I couldn't be more happy with the car! They must have 40 or 50 cars there ready to be detailed and delivered. They are still moving in, so the place doesn't look like what you'd expect yet, but they will soon have it transformed into the usual Tesla look. Glad Tesla is expanding to accomodate the volume. Very happy with the car...14 miles on the odo at pickup (I think) and drove straight into Manhattan to go to work! I'll post more later when I have a chance!

just curious, where are you parking in NYC? do you charge there? (and how much??) lol I need to find a place still.

I live on Manhattan as well, and have a great solution (for west side, if that's relevant to you), you can read about it here:

Charging in New York City.....?

The conclusion is:

The parking garage agreed to give me a new spot (very isolated from other cars, which is great), and they installed a dedicated and metered NEMA 14-50 for me. I agreed to pay $600 for the installation. I'll pay normal parking rate ($257/month, I live here so I get taxes removed), plus power usage. My car arrives next week so....! The garage is at 555 W. 53rd Street. It's above ground, so your Tesla will have 3G reception. It's warm (ish) in the winter, and clean. Let me know if you are interested, I can introduce you to the manager. Cheers, Mark

@youlikadajuice -- How do you like the textile seats?

I've only driven 24 miles, but so far, I'm very satisfied! I think they're comfortable and look very sporty...to each his own though!

I park at Manhattan Plaza Parking (42nd st between 9th & 10th, right where the Lincoln Tunnel dumps you out), it is a self park with fairly large spaces which is why I like it so much. I pay $300 a month. You can find cheaper, but most places are valet only, and then you wind up tipping the guys so they take good care of you, so all in all, I think I get a good deal. I do not charge there, but have asked the garage about it, and they are supposedly looking into it. It wouldn't hurt to call them and ask them about charging as well if you're interested (twist their arm)...the info can all be found in post #9 in this thread: Charging in New York City....?
