Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Confirmed my order for S85 on 10/02. At the time of confirmation, delivery target was "late December" on the builder.

Just noticed the VIN is on my dashboard today. My delivery date still just says "December".

I did tech package with parking sensors and then auto-pilot was announced later. Last email with my DS indicated he'd swap the tech packages "on the backend" and there would be no price difference since I had the parking sensors for the extra $500 already. Waiting on confirmation from him that it was done (he was out for long weekend).

I also asked him to look into the "other options" features mentioned in the blog post. We'll see what he can find out about the likelihood of any of those being included.

...Still on for December delivery. And e-mailed Tesla to swap out the tech package.

I don't think it's necessary to ask for an upgrade since the Autopilot features are now standard for every Model S now being constructed. More here (7th paragraph): Dual Motor Model S and Autopilot | Blog | Tesla Motors.

Actually I just found out that yes, you do need to call them to get the new features especially if you're getting the Technology Package. It never hurts to confirm, even if you're not getting that option.

So, despite my misgivings re: a black leather interior in the hot Florida sun I've upgraded my pre-production P85 order to P85D.
While I no longer live where it snows, previous AWD sports cars have spoiled me ... and 0-60 in 3.2 is just big grin time. My
smiles per mile will go up significantly !

Tesla, if you are listening, get us an interior color option other than black, QUICKLY.

Here are the new order statistics.

Looks like a higher VIN already posted by Steelerfeever above, but I'm number P61750.

Does having the 61,750th production Model S still qualify me as an early adopter? :p

When there are millions on the road you can say you had one of the first 100k and when Tesla was still just a wee baby company with dreams of changing the world. Why back in your day the idea of "competition" was tiny EVs with only a measly 100 miles and you thought you were the talk of the town with your 300 mile battery. Now all you new kids with your crazy high range of 1000 miles still complaining that you can't drive across the entire US on one charge. Back in my day our biggest complaint was the amount of cup holders and unlighted sun visors... You kids these days don't know what good is.

At least that is how I imagine you will tell the story in about 20 years still driving your "classic model S" :D

I'd say that is a big YES. You're not the earliest, that is reserved for the Signatures. However Tesla is still growing and learning as a company. The cars are incredible but there are still some fine tuning going on that qualifies to categorize the car as in its early stages.

Or we can arbitrarily say that the first 100K cars are early cars.

Whatever floats your boat...

OK. Now I'm really happy ... changed to Grey Next Generation seats and 19" wheels today (they are now available on the Design Studio).
As a traditionalist, I'd go with Coil Springs and $2250 in my pocket vs the manditory air suspension if I could, but all in all, this is a very
nice configuration for me! (PS apparently all P85D orders need to be reconfirmed with Tesla - check your dashboard).

Here is the re-confirmed design:

@mspohr, is this still the case with your S85D? My order moved from February to January too for a few days before it got pushed out to February again.

Just as you did, I had changed my pre-Oct-9, vanilla S85 (December delivery) to S85D on Oct 14th.

I have to edit my signature below...

I just noticed that I got pushed back to February... bummer. I felt good for a few days thinking that the change to the D would only delay my order for a month but now it looks like two months. I expect there is a lot of musical chairs going on with the different models. I assume that the P versions have priority. Oh well, it will give them another month to work out the bugs in the new D model.

P85d in Tampa :)

My DS said that my car would be ready late this week in an email he sent a few days ago. But my dashboard says I'm still in the production queue (not in production yet) and I haven't received my final paperwork. Is MyTesla usually delayed or is it possible it may not be this week? :crying:
