Neither, actually. I talked to Greg on my first visit, and he was very helpful and obviously enthusiastic. When I went in to make my reservation yesterday (my birthday, coincidentally), I completed the paperwork with Ershi (rhymes with Hershey). She was also helpful and we talked through some questions I had about dual chargers and the "High Power Wall Connector," both of which seem to have 3rd nipple status (unnecessary).
As for the sequence number being lower than someone else, that seems pretty surprising to me as well. I did intentionally go into the store to do my reservation so they would get credit directly, rather than me completing online. I know their sales team doesn't work on salary, but I'm sure the local stores get some sort of recognition for reservations completed in the store. I'm wondering if it's possible that doing it in the store rather than online might have influenced that?
I started reading about this car when it was announced and was super excited about it at the time, but had lost touch with it entirely over the last year and a half. A friend of mine mentioned to me that the Fashion Island store was open, and I boogied down there to check out the car. What a great experience, and I love the chassis being on display in the store as well. That really highlights the simplicity of the whole design.
I was pretty much sold after visiting in store, and after some fancy footwork with Excel, I found a reasonable path to solve the financial side of the equation. I had actually planned to wait until Q1 2013 to put in the reservation, but decided yesterday, "what the hell, it's my birthday" and went and did it. Without talking to the wife about it first. Serious, but not likely fatal, tactical error. She's not thrilled with me on that score right now, but I think she'll come around.
Well, I'm off to find some more Model S Porn to read and watch.
