We did a fun comparison of the Model S record lap at Laguna Seca vs. our lap in our modified M3P

MPP Model 3 Vs Model S “Plaid” At Laguna Seca – Data Comparison

TLDR: It is really fast.

If you start the videos both as you pass the first underpass you can see the Model s is letting off completely a couple of times and is babying the car through some of the corners, The two straights before the Corckscrew it takes at least a Second lead alone. LOTS of power in that thing.

Couldnt imagine with a couple days practice what Randy P would do with that

It's clear from the video there's a lot more speed in that car. They've admitted the driver isn't a professional and while he's doing a reasonable job, you can see there's a lot of mid-corner understeer in places because he's not confident carrying speed into and through the corners. There's obviously a lot more to come.

Neither was there an "+" option for dual motor model. Apparently not everyone is aware of it. My guess is the few who think they got one bought a used one and somehow made to believe that's what they have.

That is incorrect. A set number of vins of the 2014 P85D had the same suspension as the P85+ And was evidenced by the part/spec codes of those cars. I’ve driven a few of them back in 2015 and even as recently as last year with a P85D service loaner (built during the vin range) and can verify that the suspension is miles apart from what is experienced in 2015 onwards.

20 SECONDS FASTER!
Tesla-Attacke auf der Nordschleife: 20 Sekunden schneller als der Taycan?

Time was hand-taken, nothing official yet. But the source is a very reliable German Cars magazine.
Tesla only did bridge-to-gantry though (19.1km), not the entire north loop (20.8km).

"Bridge to gantry
During tourist driving sessions, the full main straight cannot be driven at speed due to the exit/entrance. These laps are usually timed "bridge to gantry", which is only 19.1 km (11.9 mi). The lap goes from the "bridge" to the "gantry" (currently carrying Audi sponsorship.)"

Well, nowhere in the article they say that!
On the contrary, most probably the time was taken from a point mid circuit, where spectators are admitted, and this means a FULL lap was clocked, 20,6Km.
And if they are forced to go slow on main straight to allow for entrance/exit, this is so much more an astonishing performance!

Where did you read that it’s bridge to gantry and not a full lap?

Just to make it 100% clear.
I jaut re-read the article again, and it specifically mention that it was a 20.6Km full lap and not a reduced one!
Where do you see that? The only mention of 20.6 km is in the discussion of Porsche's 7:42 time. I see nothing in the article that discusses Tesla making full/partial laps or bridge-to-gantry in the Auto Motor und Sport article.

Article says: " Dabei waren die Wetterbedingungen am Montag (16.9.) mit 18 Grad und starker Bewölkung eher kühl."
Hand clocked lap was done on monday, september 16th. So it's obvious Tesla only did bridge to gantry.
GP track (the straight) was closed on monday. Opening times

Article also says: "für Mittwoch den 18. September 2019, ist ein erster Rekordversuch geplant."
First Tesla record attempt is planned for september 18th.
That's the green thing on the calender on sept 18 where someone booked the GP track from 6 to 8pm.... which is probably Tesla for their first attempt on a full lap.
