Thanks for these pictures. Yours definitely has a whole finishing piece on the back of the seats that mine absolutely does not have. If you look at my pictures the whole metal pole that goes across is visible with all the seatbelt stuff and wires and stuff. Yours has like a stretchy looking fabric covering most of that area. UGH!! I knew mine didn't look right.

For comparison, I looked up the dimensions of the largest rectangle box item I could think of to haul in a Model X.
Somebody jump in here & check my work:
The box containing a Bosch Household Dishwasher: [don't ask why... that's worth another thread]
Width 26 in
Depth 29.3 in
Height 35.7 in
Dishwasher Link: Bosch 800 Series SHE68T55UC dishwasher Specs
Laid flat & Based on those numbers, I think even an in-box dishwasher will fit in a 5 Seater. Conclusion correct?

I had an overnight test drive of a 90D 5-seater last night. Because of the weather, I couldn't get good pictures, but here's what I observed:

  • The loaner came with the large rear floor panel (the larger of the two panels), but it does not fit snugly over the lower compartment. It did not have a strap. A specialist at the store confirmed that there's still a part missing that would support the front of the panel, just behind the seats (similar to what others have said on the forum). Without this missing support, the panel falls slightly into the space below, held up only by the tapering sides of the wheel well, and sort of slides forward and into the bench seat, leaving about a 2" gap between the back edge of the panel and the front edge of the smaller rear cover.
  • The bench bolts into the structure beneath the carpet. It appears you can easily unbolt it, but there's also wiring (and potential error codes) to deal with.
  • Unlike the monopost seats, the bench has wiring, junction boxes, and metal brackets that protrude down, making it tricky to slide cargo underneath without it getting caught on something. Also, be careful digging around down there!
  • The seats themselves are very soft. Perhaps too soft, because if you sit forward a bit, you can feel the hard seat frame under your thighs.
  • I'm 6'1" and I can sit in the middle seat comfortably. (my hair grazes the headliner, but it's not uncomfortable) It is definitely positioned lower than the 7-seat monopost.
  • The bench is not as wide as I expected, and I can see how three people may feel a bit cramped. The monopost seats are pushed out further to the edges of the car and have better support.
  • With the seats folded, the minimum distance between the roof and the front-most part of the seat back is 27".
  • The distance from the back of the cargo area to the back of the bench is 47".

So does that mean the seats are uncomfortable, since you can feel the seat frame underneath?

Picked up my (our) car this am. There was a permanent support behind the second row, bench seat which block things from sliding under the seat and serves. I had both covers and I am very happy with the space as configured. I only got to drive it for 40 minutes taking it to the detailer for Crystal Serum coating. I did not want to leave it. Amazing car to drive. If that aren't new pictures by Sunday I'll puts some up.

Okay, I am now in excitement territory! My concerns were down to just one. The issue of things being able to roll under the 2nd row seats because of that open gap. Either Tesla heard us, or they were ahead of us. beths11 you're the first, as far as I know, that has reported having that panel installed behind the 2nd row seats. PICTURES, PLEASE!!!!!! It sounds like it looks good to you. By the way, what's Crystal Serum coating?

I did not inspect the car for perfect alignment. I just bought an incredible car. In looking at the car it looked amazing. I took my que from others in the forum and didn't look alignment problems, but enjoyed the experience. I believe if we look hard enough on any car we can find an issue.
Pictures by Sunday if someone doesn't post them first.
Again, It is an amazing car. I did not buy it as a "luxury car". I bought it because of the it's leading edge technology and wanting to be apart of total disruption to the auto industry. I won't go into details but let's just say "Tesla did what no other auto manufacturer could have done to get me the car I ordered, conveniently delivered to me, in a reasonable time frame".

The pre delivery process can be frustrating, but delivery and support make any frustration a distant memory.

Many threads here about protection for the car. If you start to google for "auto paint protection, "your area"" You will get detailers you can help educate you and decide which of the many products is right for your car and your purse.

Crystal serum coating is a substance ingested by 5 seat Model X owners whose wait for their Tesla has nurtured such an extraordinary level of patience in their souls that they can actually surrender possession of their Model X after driving it for only 40 minutes.

They're still very comfortable. The cushion foam does deform more easily than I expected, but I only felt the frame if I sat forward a bit and leaned towards the front of the car.

All this being said, the overnight test drive vehicle had mfg plates, and the specialist cautioned that some things were still being tweaked. Someone in another thread mentioned their delivered vehicle came with all the panels and the missing support, so it appears that Tesla is moving quickly to address these initial quality and finish issues with the five seater.

Personally I am convinced Tesla planned the additional part all along.

The signs were clear in all the shipping 5 seaters as well as in the Design Studio almost from the start:

Speculation: Model X five seater is missing a panel to hide seat bottoms?
