Model X 90kWh battery pack degradation

My wife is taking her Model X in for several small service issues this week and we're asking for an evaluation of the pack as well. I think we're getting around 220mi at 100% at 66k miles on the 90D. So it's a bit frustrating to have it that low, esp. in this part of the country, she may even have to stop and charge on the way to the service center this week...
Definitely something is up My Model X 75D is at 68,000 Miles, and full 100% charge is 222. BMS reports pack capacity is 69.1 kWh as of right now.

Notice 98.6 miles traveled since last charge (which was a full 100% charge) and estimated 17 miles left. My real world range on a 100% charge is approximately 110 miles. Stated range is 227 miles. I really should stop using the ludicrous+ option...
 
Did a rare 100% charge on my late 2016 MX90D. I got 242 rated miles. I believe I used to get around 259 miles of rated range when it was new. That is about 6.6% of degradation in almost 3 years and at 54k+ miles of driving. My 90% is about 217 and used to be like 232.
That’s pretty much in line with mine across the board. Similar miles, age, and degradation. It has plateaued there for a while though, so maybe we’ve gotten the bulk out of the way.

I thought I saw 261 a few times for 100% when new. I know the EPA is 257 though, and after a couple few months (and software updates) it definitely settled there. I'm down to 246 now. So, based on those starting points I'm between 5.75% and 4.28% degradation here.

Oh yeah, I've got about 40,000 miles on the odometer.
 
With all this news about the even longer range update I had to check. 2016 P90D now has 206 rated miles at 90%, that’s about a 10% loss at 72,000 miles.
On a practical basis it is shy of a comfortable range by about 50 miles in the winter and long trips have a little too much charging time.

Looking back to a year ago there is a bit more loss 90 battery pack degradation

And yes @ByByGas a “90” is really an 83 with about 77 useable

How many miles are you able to drive on the 206 rated miles? My 2016 P90D is at 205 rated miles at 90% but I can only realistically drive 130 miles at about 400 Wh/mi. Wondering if it’s worth bringing in for service.

My 2015.07 P90D with 21" wheels, and gen 1 battery has a lifetime average of 336 Wh/mi. I have done 59,345 miles. I get 206 miles at 90%. I think your consumption is too high.

Oh I thought we were talking about model X vehicles. My S is far more efficient and closer to your Wh/mike rating. My XP90D with 22” wheels is where the range becomes an issue. Anyone else with the X90D not getting anywhere close to the rated miles? I am getting less real road miles every couple months

Sorry you are right (facepalm). When you pick up these threads from "New Posts" you forget sometimes we are talking about another vehicle.

My X90D has 20" wheels, which make a big difference. We average 320-330Wh/mi but also live in a very temperate climate so HVAC isn't under heavy load. (Though it looks as if you do, too).
 
I'm always mystified with everyone's concern about battery degredation. I charge my P90DL X (4/2016 build) at home up to 80% (approx. 205 miles), then plug it back in when it gets under 50 miles. No worries about having lost a few miles over the past 3 years. Yes, I done six cross country drives - the state of the Supercharger network is such that I've had no issues getting the range I needed.

Bear in mind that declining mileage is not confined to EVs - every ICE I've owned got significantly worse mileage at the end of their life than when new. The worse was my Highlander Hybrid - started at 33 mpg at first, but I was lucky to 27 mpg by the time I sold it to by my X! Of course, that mileage loss could have been caused by the hybrid batteries degrading!

Not sure why you would see this on your ICE vehicles, if they are properly maintained. I have and have had many ICE vehicles, and they always maintain their MPG throughout their life. Of course, I maintain my vehicles as they should be (that means keeping them away from the dealer as much as possible), and they always provide the service life I expect out of them.
 
So the delivery specialist told me something interesting today as I was signing paperwork for my new Model X. He said that they could change individual cells if their diagnosis noticed something wrong during a regular service. So “unlike a leaf where they have to replace the entire battery pack, Tesla can just swap out cells like Lego blocks and you’d have an infinite battery life.” I’ve never heard of this before and thought the battery cells were all potted into the pack modules. Anybody heard of this or gotten an individual cell replaced??

Here is the message where @wk057 just recently said exactly the opposite. I think we can file this under "stupid things Tesla employees have said."
EDIT: It also sounds like there's a confusion of terms between cell and module.

Model 3 supposedly have changeable modules. I doubt the model s is that way unless they change something with the battery module recently with the raven model s change.
