Model X September Deliveries

I think Tesla has/had the intention to automate the production process notification to the end user. But with so many issues and delays to the Model-X, it just wasn't working. Maybe when the production line is humming along flawlessly, they'll get it working again.

Just got the email this morning saying my X is complete and will be making its way out to Virginia. From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, it seems that 2 - 3 weeks is the typical transport time.

X90D, Reserved 7/14, Confirmed 7/21, VIN 15XXX, Deep Blue, Black Leather, 20", 6 Seat, High Amp, AP, PUP, UHFS, SAS, Subzero, Towing.

This will be joining our MC Red S 85 delivered Apr 2013.

Wow! Didn't you just go into production last week?

Lucky! i'm Vin 14xxx and my DS hasn't updated me on anything. I think my DS sucks since it takes her 2-3 days to respond to emails. I would call her but her accent is hard to understand.

There were articles about layoffs of some Solar City staff as part of the symbiosis of merging the two companies (ie. the layoffs have already started, but the merger not done). Anyway - maybe the DS team will slowly melt away and computers be the primary information channel until it arrives at a Service/Sales center for delivery. I don't know what the computer or a small team at Tesla HQ can't do that the DS team can - and they are not performing as well as they used to with the hand-holding.

Called the sales guy who helped me with the test drive and asked him about cancelling an option on my order. He looked into it and said the car is already in production half way through and could not make any changes. I was surprised because my expected delivery is late September or early October. He said the car should be available for delivery by second or third week of September. My vin is 170** ordered and confirmed 8/6. I don't know if I have to belive him.

From various reports of new VIN numbers, it definitely looked like lots of new Model X orders and faster production turnarounds.

My was told my order is in production (not pre-production) and should expect delivery time in 2-3 weeks (local in Fremont). So if production means it's been built, then the actual building to available for delivery seem quite long...

I have a feeling they don't want to deal with changes anymore so to just say "in production" as a reason that most customers are less likely to challenge it. It does make sense as to have much higher throughput in production, they can't afford to deal with individual feature change even weeks before real "production" to start.

In general, my experience with ordering my X has been sub-par compared to when I ordered my S three years ago. I realize it's not a fair comparison, but I agree with the sentiments expressed above. Order status information can be communicated much more efficiently with some more effective coding of computer systems.

I'm still sitting waiting for reliable information on when my 3/4/16 75D order will go into production (I'm assuming it has not yet). My #117xx VIN was posted to MyTesla near the end of June. I've been told delivery will be in September or possibly October. At first I was bothered by it, but I've accepted that there's really nothing I can do about the timing - it will get here when it gets here. However, an October delivery seems unfathomable to me, based on all of the other August/September deliveries that have/are occurring with very similar configurations as mine, but ordered after me. I realize there were earlier X owners that waited much, much longer than me, but it just seems strange given Tesla's statements about production ramp and quality improving in the last quarter.

Its hard for me to believe as well. He has been very helpful and is very prompt in reaching out unlike my delivery specialist. He reaches out to me more than DS if I made any updates on my Tesla like documents and etc. He also asked me to Pply for three loan and get the NEMA installed. Let's see ...

Is there anyway we can change DS. My DS also sucks. Doesn't communicate at all. Last time I tried to reach him, I had to wait for a week and send a follow up email to hear from him. Where as the person who took me for test drive reached out the moment my order got confirmed. BTW my VIN is 15### and I placed order on 06/15 and confirmed on 06/22.

If I were you, I'd elevate that up the chain.

What's your configuration?

Hand holding might have been their original intention as a way to set themselves apart service wise.

But this has gone left. It's clear that some are way more responsive than others so the experience becomes less like a concierge and more like a pia.

The DS role is not needed. They should just keep it automated throughout the process.

I wish I knew how? I tried calling the main "deliveries team at headquarters" number on the tesla page many times, but I've never reached a live human, and the voicemail I left them was apparently forwarded to my DS, who called me back to tell me he didn't have anything to tell me regarding my order.

I just spoke with someone at Fremont. I pressed "2" for Model X and told them I needed more information about my order. He suggested I contact my owner advisor whose number I already have. My OA is going to check and get back to me today.

If you have a nearby local store (standalone), you could go in there and casually ask for an update. I don't think you should be in the dark.

I do want to update a post from the prior page. A couple new posts with new data show some newer cumulative numbers:

Quite a bit!
So, with this MX Vin # - they have issued about 1400 Vins in August (thru 8/19) for Model X.
And with MS, about 2800 for August through 8/23.

Lots and lots of cars being built. A combined 4200 Vin #s through about 8/23.
