As long as you are the registered keeper, then you can insure a company car. Make sure you include business mileage in the requirements.
I'm not the registered keeper, the lease company is. Direct Line ask whether its a personal lease or a company lease. If you select company lease you can't complete the online form and have to phone them. When you phone them they say the policy must be in the companies name (so a company car policy). Ironically I don't do any business mileage and walk to my office....

Best of luck with your search.

Just requested a DL quote, and they are almost, £300 more than the Meerkats and Money Supermarket.

Found this company who cater for Tesla Model Y and leased vehicles - Electric Car Insurance | EV Specialists | Personal & Company Cars maybe they can get you a sensible offer 👍

I'm wondering if the DVLA doesn't update their external-access system for a while after sending out the V5 OR whether TFL only bothers accessing the DVLA database once a week (or fortnight or month). It would be interesting to hear how long it takes anyone to get exemption from CC if they are not juggling reg numbers...
Good point on databases. DVLA shows my MY V5 as issued, but the tfl and my local council ones don't. Which is annoying given we only have in street parking and need a permit to park.

How about insurance quotes ? This is my first car and the insurance is costing me a staggering 3375 Per year ! This might be a deal breaker for me right here !
Which part of London are you in? That's probably it! When I moved from a SW (in a dodgy postcode which classic car insurance refused to insure me) to a leafy 'safe' N London suburb with a drive and a garage - my insurance on my daily trippled!! Cars in that area used to get stolen on order on a daily basis. Recently moved to Oxfordshire and got a huge four figure rebate on my multicar policy - go figure!

I live next to the O2 arena. I have a secured gated parking as well. I am not sure the area I live in is the cause of such a high insurance quote.
Probably gonna wait until early next month to figure out the best possible deal.

Worth playing with the variables - when I moved from street parking to a house with private garage behind a secure locked gate I assumed it would be cheaper - in my case it was more. Apparently thieves like quiet places off street. When I said I would park that car on the road it went down by a fair bit! Logical - as parking on street means more eyes watching your car. Then again it can work the other way in other areas. Even ammending your job title can have an effect - there are about three job titles I could use which all mean the same thing and bizarrely one was cheaper than the other two.

I have a Model Y LR coming via Gateway2Lease on the 1st March. Have received a reservation number from Tesla, via SMS, but no registration number, as yet.

I have insured my current business-leased M3 LR with LV and can't get a quote without a reg no. Don't want to leave this to the last minute! Has anyone with a lease received their registration number yet? And, does anyone know if LV is offering quotes on the Model Y yet, either?

Thanks.

I'm collecting on 2nd march 10am, I have a VIN + reg number, but neither appears in any of my documents in the Tesla account section (e.g. the invoice VIN box is empty), should these update at some point?

I guess I probably don't get a "final invoice" as im leasing via Tesla PCP.

LV weren’t quoting last week and told me they may not at all this year.

I spoke with them yesterday, they said the insurance databases for a lot of companies are getting updated on 1st March so check after then as the Model Y should be included, hopefully we will have more choice than just Admiral, Direct Line, Churchill, Nova and Bell.

Brilliant ! Thanks for confirming this. I will wait for early march to sort my insurance out. I collect on the 10th of March.

LV= appetite for risk appears to have declined somewhat. The premium for my two vehicles with them went up by 25% this year whereas last year they were one of the cheapest on all of the comparison sites - for me at least. Now they don't even seem to appear in the top 20 quotes with Confused, MSM, CTM etc. Nothing had changed in the meantime - no claims, no motoring offences and we hadn't moved house.

I think what I'm saying is that even when they do add the Y to their database don't expect them to be competitive.

Well NOVO just declined to give me a quote saying my driving experience was not adequate to drive vehicles with a similar performance to a Tesla Model Y a vehicle that does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. My risk profile falls outside their accepted appetite.
Oh well..

Now that I've been told I'm getting home delivery sometime this month, I've suddenly wondered whether home delivery copes with part exchange. It would be a bugger to have it delivered and then have to drive to Bluewater to trade in the old jallopy. Anyone had part-exchange at home? (Don't suppose anyone looks on here once they have their new supercar!)

Just seen from your history that you're a new driver with 2 years experience - don't want to be a negative nelly but I'd be surprised if anyone would insure you for a sensible sum of money. I assume you are at least over 25, which will help. If you have anyone who's been driving longer you could try getting them to insure it with you as a named driver, but that usually requires that they are the main driver of the vehicle.
