Better range with RWD. Range matters. No idea why they are offering RWD. Added complexity to production and the opposite of an SUV.

I agree this is a smart move for them, but a little hard to justify adding a Y as a second car if you already have a 3 and like a little variety. They are *extremely* similar. Was hoping this would be my wife’s next car but now not so sure.
Lower cost, improved range, and in many markets, people don't care about AWD even in crossovers (because what they want is a 2 or 2.5-row minivan that looks like a SUV, not an actual SUV).No idea why they are offering RWD. Added complexity to production and not my idea of SUV.
I ordered LR AWD.
No, it currently allows up to 85mph on a divided highway. It is limited to speed limit + 5 on other roads.
I do think they will eventually put a limit on the speed if it is ever to be manufacturer responsibility and not driver assist. Otherwise, big money maker for the local police departments.
Exactly. I want this exact car, just in a full-size SUV size. Here’s hoping for X redesign...If you want bigger then just get an X man. If it was the same size it wouldn't have made any sense to have made this at all.
I get it, but they dropped the MX RWD (never produced) for a reason. Extra complexity and most don't want a 2WD SUV. (How do you go off-road...I mean drive over a curb at the Mall).Better range with RWD. Range matters.
The low resolution video from the stream made the blue one on stage look really lame.
Absolutely yes he said that. He said they will be upgrading existing SuperCharger sites to V3 as well as adding new V3 SuperChargers. Elon said they slowed down building out the SuperCharger network while still installing V2 so that as many as possible could be built at the V3 version rather than V2 after V3 came out.Anyone remember Elon saying that they'll be upgrading V2 superchargers to V3 during his "history lesson" when he was talking about supercharging? I think that's what he said, if so that's awesome!

How is RWD extreme complexity when it's based off the same car that you currenty drive?I get it, but they dropped the MX RWD (never produced) for a reason. Extra complexity and most don't want a 2WD SUV. (How do you go off-road...I mean drive over a curb at the Mall).
In most fancy cars today, that would cause enormous damage. Curbs are death, to cars and people. I paid many thousands of dollars to repair my Model S after brushing on a curb once. I totaled my Mercedes once by driving in a driveway with a fairly normal looking drainage dip by going 10MPH instead of 5MPH. I've heard of accidents where curbs sent cars flying into pedestrians out of control of the driver and pedestrians, just because the curbs are the same color as the travelable part of the roadway. I think your statement about SUVs driving over curbs is wrong.I get it, but they dropped the MX RWD (never produced) for a reason. Extra complexity and most don't want a 2WD SUV. That was the weakest reveal of a product I’ve ever seen.
I cannot imagine who is going to give them a $2500 loan to reserve this after the fiasco that was the Model 3 reservation queue.
Hard pass on this one.
You are spot on, is his really an SUV?
Or drove up a black Y when he spoke about the 3.they should have done matte black at the reveal just to troll everyone.
