Is the $7500 tax credit worth waiting months to get Mach E instead of Model Y?

i think at 1 time BMW offered 4 yrs of free oil changes but would only do them at 15K intervals, which was too long in some cases and caused sludge build up. It was more of a stupid policy than a dealer actively trying to ruin peoples engines. If you wait longer than 10K or 1 yr on an oil change you pretty much deserve what happens ..

Ha, that's crazy. The dealer in my case would offer as many as you wanted. You could go in twice a month or every hundred miles if you were crazy enough!

I noticed that after a couple of oil changes, they put out placards limiting the # of changes for cars sold after a certain date. I'm guessing unlimited turned out to be a bad idea. :)

Ok so I went to the Alpharetta service center today after the 1 month wait and assured by all you guys that I’m crazy for even suspecting the Tesla service wasn’t absolutely superior to any other car brand

.. fanboys must be drunk on Elon’s sweat or something. Hour later they finished with the spoiler replacement. Waiting room was about what you expect at kids r kids. Some toys an empty fridge, some stained couches. Not exactly a $100k vehicle waiting room .. whatever it wasn’t worse than dodge but there were no Vipers or Trackhawks to look at ..

hour after I get home and new spoiler is worse than old, peeling off on both ends. Texted pic (since you can’t call or just come by, that’s far too personal) and they said come by again tomorrow and we will fix it again. Fk off. I’ll get some damn 3m tape and do this myself. Although I think real issue is the curve of the spoiler isn’t same as the trunk lid so no amount of 3m will do it. Maybe will buy an aftermarket version since Tesla can’t do Cad or QA all that well apparently.

so how bad exactly is Ford service again ?

Denisssis can u come out to Atlanta and just fix this for me ? No name calling this time i swear ;)

Just sell the Tesla and get the Ford. You could possibly get more than you paid for it right now due to the high used car markets. By the sounds, you’d be happier.

No Tesla is still the better car but will be interesting to see if that’s still true in a few years. Ford still has a lot of catching up to do. Just wish the complete Tesla owner experience was better, but it won’t improve if they are only congratulated 24/7

Tesla Y also is the better looking car. Aside from the duck lips front end the car is gorgeous. The Ford looks overdone like they tried to do too much with the lines .. a la late 90s Escort GT vibe (remember that styling turd?)

I’ll keep it for a year or 2. Sorry you are stuck with me :)

Thanks for the personal invite but no, experiencing your charming personality at a distance will have to suffice. And I'm sure you're correct, your penetrating (and meandering) insights into Tesla's many shortcomings are probably driving improvements throughout the company as we speak - that's your only motivation right?...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Love all the out-of-spite disagreements here.

Am I missing something? Ford is not considered an American manufacturer because they produce some vehicles in Mexico, but Tesla is considered American, even though they produce vehicles in China?

The Kool-aid is strong on this forum.
Wait US buyers buy Fords made in Mexico and US buyers buy Teslas made in USA is considered the same?

Teslas made in China for China is irrelevant.

Also to OP. Don’t under estimate range and supercharger network.

In the Customer Service department, Tesla has a long way to go for sure... I actually like the looks of the Mach E a lot but the Model Y is the superior car by a HUGE margin. Efficiency, space, performance, infotainment and Supercharger Network.. Also, the Mach E can't tow.. Very nice looking car but between the MY and the Mach E, it's really no contest.. Tesla is almost a decade ahead when it comes to Electric Vehicles..

Nice 1st attempt for Ford to try to compete with Tesla, but they are probably at least 3 years away from having something that can actually compete. Not just Ford, but VW Audi Mercedes etc. Tesla built and constantly update their own software which probably took many years to perfect. Tesla is made up of many small companies that they started so they wouldn't have to comply with legacy car manufacturer standards and just made up their own standards for parts and software.

I've looked at the ID4 well before it became available as VW was testing them in my area and I got to meet and talk to VW Test drivers quite a bit about the car. I also got to sit in the back and the legroom in the back was very small with a tall driver.. Also, no Frunk... WTH??? A lot less space, less power, less range etc.. Not ideal.. Sure, VW has better fit and finish than Tesla.. No doubt... but from any other aspect, Tesla is superior.

And now Sandy Munro shows how the Mach-E battery cells, made by LG, look very similar to the cells in the Bolt EV that have a recall now requiring replacement due to a manufacturing defect. (Just like the LG cells in the Hyundai Konas that also require replacement due to a manufacturing defect.) The Bolt and Kona cells were made in two different LG factories, so it seems like a systemic issue with LG making these cells.

What are the chances that the Mach-E cells will end up requiring replacement?

Seems like this guy isnt a big Ford fan, lots of jabbing back in my day comments lol. Im not seeing where this is a poor design just super labor intensive/expensive. Thats not necessarily a bad thing just means Ford has probably rushed it to market without optimizing the build cost.

Love the big planetary gear system Ford uses. Thats big bucks.

I dont know enough about a deep dive into electrical component assy here (im a mech engr) but is anyone seeing huge red flags here on the ford ? I would love to see just a summary of the technical pros and cons in comparison to VW and Tesla. Also I dont mind Ford including the parking brake pawl system. Yes it can be 3 lines of code but electronics tend to fail and cars tend to run over people when they step out of them to get their mail. Its an added factor of safety, surprised he missed an obvious one.

He worked for Ford for many years, was in charge of fasteners, wrote their standards for fasteners. Labor intensive and expensive is poor design.

Munro has several videos where he breaks down the VW and compares it to Tesla.

I feel like people read too much into his comments sometimes. As a consumer, I don't really care about a part costing a little too much.

The parking pawl seems silly as they aren't bulletproof either, but it makes little difference as a consumer.

I think you miss the real implication. Complicated design and unnecessary components are going to break more often and very difficult to fix (if possible at all). Not to mention the added weight (which cuts down the range).

Personally I think he’s very straightforward. He’s complementary when he sees things he likes too (even when it’s Ford. For example, he likes the look etc…)
