With that logic I would have had my vin a week ago. There is no rhyme or reason with this awesome company
Mine is for luggage, etc when traveling. I have a carrier for it. I got my vin today with a tow, OD 6/5, so don’t think the tow is an issue with delays.It's funny that so many want tow - you just all pulling trailers?
For what other reason spend so much for just a hitch (unless you really are gonna pull a trailer - then tesla 7 mode pin makes sense)
Bike and boat is not the same.
The bike doesn't need the "hookup" (brakes, lights, etc) while trailer does and would benefit from the oem adapter.
I myself am a biker and plan on just adding a $350 hitch.
You can activate (manually) "trailer mode" and disable the sensors (at least you were able to, not sure current build)

Not sure ifs it's true but I read that you dont have trailer mode unless tesla installs. Lots of misinformation out there so who knows
Tesla support does state that you can manually activate the mode but it's unclear if you needed the actual package...

Seem like since he has a vin and received a text about his being in the delivery truck Both on the 5th. It seems unlikely yours would be on the truck if you didn’t get notified.
It's a risk. How do you know Tesla won't increase prices again? Today Ford increased the price of the Lightning by 7k.. I wonder why.
Also you don't know how delivery times will be once it gets closer to 2023. Everybody will start ordering so they can get the car sooner while getting the tax credit(which may not even be the full amount depending on where parts are manufactured).
I would read and understand the bill completely before making a decision. Also, I would think you would need to wait until November at the earliest to place an order in hopes of receiving a 2023 delivery date.

So when is it safe to change your order from cash to financing? Once you get VIN or wait till delivery date is set up?
I would suggest waiting until you get your VIN. However, I would line up my financing once you get your two-week window.
